Stupid challenge from Bright. Definite yellow there, though her first booking was a joke. Sadly Bright will end this World Cup without having had a decent showing all tournament. Abbie McManus must wonder what she has to do to get in the side
On the pen, one of the frustrating things is it's meant to be clear and obvious. It's not clear if it takes five minutes to decide. It's a REALLY tough decision, but you are now letting VAR Referee the game.

In her defence England needed the ball back and she was just trying to help make up for the failings of others, making the challenge was understandable. But it was the challenge of a lumbering carthorse of a player and was a fully deserved booking.

It probably didn't help that VAR kept showing the wrong angles. The foul was absolutely clear from the rear view.
Women's football really is in a strange place. At this elite level, there are moments of real skill and technique but also still moments of proper hungover park football stuff.
Gave the eventual winners a good game. Still sloppy in areas but overall this tournament had shown a step up for the women’s game. Can’t be too disappointed with that. Well played England.
Christ I'm not going to bother with women's football again. I understand that it is a different style, but the poor passing, the poor ball control, the failure to hold a shape. It was dire.
That was a poor penalty by any standards but it doesn't necessarily follow that your top scorer is your penalty taker.
Leighton Baines converted 20 out of 22 penalties in his career. Michael Owen netted just 13 times for Liverpool from 23 attempts.
One of our best penalty takers (if not the best) was Bob Curtis (a defender) and he took them despite Killer being in the side.
It's the player that can shut everything out and take one as if he (or she) is doing so in the back garden with no one in goal that is most successful. Not necessarily the one that is an instinctive finisher in open play.
Disappointing. Particularly galling losing to the Americans as their game management tends to come out at times like these and it's not really in keeping with the rest of the tournament. Alex Morgan needs strangling in games where USA are winning in the last ten but it works. In the end though, it was a really tight match that really should have been level at 90 mins but we fluffed our lines when we had the chance. Too many wayward passes throughout when USA sat back and invited us to find the goal and we never really built up a head of steam. Real shame.
Why do you men always come on this thread only to criticise and gloat???
Don't know, it's weird. You always get the 'I just watched one match and now I'm writing off women's football as shit' posts, despite the fact a lot of the people on here have watched England go out of a tournament to Iceland and Charlton lose soul-destroying matches against Dagenham and oddly not written off men's football.

Those taken in the World Cup last year and the Nations League this have made me feel really uneasy and nervous
Bronze and Houghton gave everything But made vital mistakes tonight.
We came Into this tournament the 3rd or 4th best team. We will leave it the 3rd or 4th best team.
