    That’s Courtney Cox you idiot.
  • PS .

IF Taylor does start playing up then we could still sell him before the end of the month.......to a L1 or L2 side.

Tell him Pompey or Ipswich have come for him - I'm sure he'll like another stint in L1.

Thats the stance I'd be taking IF he doesn't get his head done - but I'm sure he will & he will be back to his striking best.
Do you have zero understanding of the rules?

You can't just sell a player.
    Eh....what rules...??

    Club A  -   "we'll give you £4m for Taylor"

    CAFC    - "done"

Club A then speaks to Taylor, offering him 2x what he is on now. Taylor leaves.

Not hard to understand & not sure what "rules" there are.
The transfer window has closed. We could LOAN Taylor to a league One or Two club. Not sell. We have also supposedly just knocked back near £4 million from Brentford for Taylor. Which League One Or Two club do you think could come remotely close to that.
Sorry, I thought League 1 & 2 clubs could still buy players, hence we could still sell them one of ours.

    Was clearly joking.
  • I mentioned Will Keane 100s of pages ago, if we could get him fit on a short term contract he would be a triffic signing.

Potentially a cut above anything else we have, would be a gamble, but it could pay off.
  • Myself and a fellow lifer from Dorset been puzzlingly about the Rats out of character behaviour the ref LT transfer to the Bees and indeed the entire window, our theories:

Mine: Bow and Rat have a cunning plan to deceive everyone and secretly support the Cloob, a tad hard to believe given Douchbag is clearly a vengeful twunt, who don’t like us very much!

Dorset;  “Astonished he didn't cash in on Taylor unless of course Roland feels Brentford did him over the Konsa transfer”.

I give that some credit, he’s a vengeful old git and I believe he instructed the Konsa deal himself, he may well feel he’s been robbed!

No matter, He’s still a TWUNT Feck off soon Douchebag!
  • Yup, Gallen and Bowyer would have identified Toney as a good player that they have the possibility of getting in, and would have convinced Roland due to his resale value, but he would have told them they have to fund it via player sales. Peterborough knocked us back so we knocked Brentford back

  • I could see lapslie join his brother on loan at Colchester. Think that’s where he is. I’d let both lapslie and Morgan out now for a season with a recall in Jan, just in case the West Brom boys do well. If they’re playing well they’re definitely getting recalled.
cullen will get a recall in Jan too as WHU will want some sort of transfer fee for him. Hopefully We’ve either been sold or Roly let’s us buy him

My theory is that we would have sold Taylor if we were able to bring in a replacement which seemed to have been identified as Ivan Toney. The reason why we rejected the deal and Taylor stayed was because Peterborough rejected our approach.

Roland got a taste of what would have happened if he agreed to sell Taylor without a replacement coming in when the contract situation with Bowyer went down in June. He hates being embarrassed in his own country, therefore he knew if he did what he wanted to do without considering Bowyer and the team, the backlash would have been too bad.

[Ties in 100% with what GM said.]
Plus I think Bowyer has struck up a just about functioning working relationship with him.

I think there is a bit of confusion and the miss use of language around our transfer dealings over the last 3 or so years.

Roland isn't greedy in terms of selling players (the asking price of the club is a diffrent matter).  His MO is to sell a player, early in the transfer window to try and cover the last seasons losses.  If there have been any.

Then he sets the manager a budget, they can reinvest some or all they get from any sales.  Bowyer sold Josh to get Taylor in and Dijksteel this summer.   I also belive Robinson sold Fox to get Page and JFC.

When it was first mentioned on here, last weekend that RD would sell Dijksteel, I didn't think that would be the case.  It was proved to not be the case.  Bowyer sold him and reinvested.  Remember be did reinvest the Gomez money, just very badly.

The 2 obvious exceptions to this were Grant and Holmes, both obviously had the head turned but I don't think the business planned on selling them.  What it probably did do was ment we only had to sell Konsa last summer and didn't have to sell anyone next summer either.

There never has been a "fire sale" as predicted ever transfer window.

He has a plan, no matter how deluded it is, and 90% he sticks to it.  I think it's actually the only thing that is predictable about Roland's behaviour.

The fact that by and large he has brought in the wrong players, sold the wrong players, for the wrong fees on the wrong contracts, I think his behaviour in this area is actually almost predictable.

Agreed, and players have been kept (such as Bauer last summer) even when bids were received. Bowyer has a budget, and it was up to him how he used it, and if he felt that selling Dijksteel was needed to create more funds, that was his choice. Selling Taylor was never in the agreed budget, hence Bowyer being able to buy a direct replacement if it happened

Thought Simpson was being eyed up by Palace.

What about Adam Matthews and Nathan Thompson.
  • Probably been mentioned already but we were in for Mark Duffy who went to Stoke in the end on loan, might play today.

Instead, because we didn’t get Toney, Taylor stayed and hopefully can kick on instead.

Regarding the rest of the deals near or on deadline day, I believe they were funded by the sale of Dijksteel. We never intended on selling Dijksteel, or anyone else for that matter. But because of the extra income, Bowyer convinced him that at the expense of losing Dijksteel, we could bring in more players of better quality without going much into the original budget that Roland set. Just the same as the money spent on Bonne and Purrington was the money received from the compensation of Aribo and Fosu.

So theoretically, Roland hasn’t really spent anything extra this summer, just kept the same budget as last season and Bowyer and Gallen has worked a miracle to pull together the squad that we have now assembled.
That summary in my opinion is absolutely bang on the money.

    League 1?

A bit like Sid James's team
  • See that Lundstrom bloke linked with us started for Sheffield Utd today, couple of great passes too to set up goal scoring opportunities.
  • Louis Moult started and scored for Preston today, was he realistically ever going to join us?
  • Where's the bloke who said Cullen had found his level at league one?  :D
Was it the West ham manager ?

Reading thru these comments, it seems fair to conclude, the Rat has a plan/working agreement with Bow?

Being, Bow/Galen have his budget (albeit small), allow them to use that budget how they see fit without stepping in on their decisions, and so long as they keep within the Rat’s financial rules he leaves well alone?

We will now see a few months of stability, if the business done is actually as good as it looks, come January we may just be in sight of playoffs, thereby making the clooob just that bit more saleable?

Sounds logical and makes sense, but these are words I’ve learned not to use in context of Douchbags ownership!

  • The thread is now unpinned and about to slip onto page 2.
Can't let it disapear into oblivion just yet, so I'm going to be a bugger and bump this.

So ...... who do you think we're going to sign at RB on a free transfer?

Rumours only, please - we don't want anything with any truth in it.

  • Surely we need a new thread "Late summer into autumn rumours"?

Can't imagine either Hutton or Simpson being within budget. Same with Cristian Gamboa who I think would be a decent signing and gets forward so would add some attacking width which we do sometimes lack.

Would imagine Jordan Spence or Nathan Thompson are more likely.
