Fair play to him really, at least he is keeping himself fit and doesn’t matter to him where that is he is training. Personally, if his wages wasn’t a problem I’d happily have Bony at the club.

It works well for both parties really, Bony needs somethere to keep fit and it must be really boring training on your own, while the Newport players get to see a top player at close hand.
I know Nathan Thompson was mentioned as a potential rb who was a free agent. He’s just signed for Peterborough.
Strange one. Why leave Pompey to go to Posh, it's hardly a step up. I'm sure he would gave chosen us if we wanted him?
I doubt that was his plan when he was advised to turn down Pompey's new contract offer last season. Even Darren Ferguson admitted he was surprised to get him as he was expected to sign for a championship club.
I think Thompson probably needs to fire his agent as he's had a shocker.

Perhaps it's a question of wages. Posh were prepared to pay what he asked for?
But the player was surely disappointed not to be offered a contract by a Championship club. He's 28. Time is not on his side if he has ambition to play at a higher level.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants English midfielder Herbie Kane, 20, to feature in their Carabao Cup campaign, ending the hopes of Portsmouth, Sunderland and Coventry of signing the player on loan. (Portsmouth News)
Interestingly Herbie Kane could be staying with Liverpool now

Surprised as he didnt play in their early friendlies for them
Certainly shouldnt be dropping back into League One, dont see it as being beneficial to his development
Might not be bad for us though as if we were to lose Cullen in January, he'd be a good option as a replacement
Very strong CV up until last season or so at Sunderland...
If we're only (initially) going to sign someone on a short term contract, I'd rather sign Matthews than Mears...
If neither are a success, then we've lost nothing.
If the one we were to sign was a success, I'd rather have a 27 year old, to whom we can offer a contract extension, than a 36 year old (and I'm not criticising Mears) who is looking for a last payday.

if they are both chasing the same contract it may come down to who kicks lumps out of the other in training ….

Hunger Games re-creation wouldnt be a bad way of deciding
Winner would certainly be showing a lot of fight for the cause, we've got a few holes where we can hide whoever loses
I guess he was on high wages with Sunderland from their Premier League days
Season in the Championship left him with no takers and a season in League One certainly left him with no takers... Cant imagine a Premier League team wanting to touch someone at a club with a poor two years, nor can I imagine a Championship team wanting to pay someone on such high wages for similar reasons - take Ben Amos and his struggles of late with finding loan clubs from Bolton.
Matthews deal of course ended in the summer which game Sunderland the chance to get him off the wage bill - Reckon they'd have kept him at the club else
Remember him being very highly rated when he initially came through @ Cardiff though so would be very happy if we signed him
Sort of thing that amuses me (e.g. Jacko scoring his first goal at the Valley for Spurs) yet Matthews' first ever appearance on the bench for Cardiff was at the Valley (2-2 draw), didnt get on though

Sounds like the kind of player that Bow thrives on bringing the best out of, clearly has talent but has lost his way. If anyone can get his career back on track its LB - hope we sign him.

Pratley's only league appearance for Fulham was against us also

His pedigree is very decent. He's played in the Prem, Championship, Scottish Prem and in League one for Sunderland.
He's a full Wales international, capped 14 times.
But at 27, he finds himself without a club.
Here's something to read about his career:
