  • Morning all from the sunny North of England.

Doncaster are now selling tickets for Jimmy Seed stand block D. They still have over 100 tickets available for the other three blocks.

The only way the IS stand can be split now is top/bottom and that is never going to happen.

If they don’t sell many more then they can all be pushed into one half of the JS and the other half can be made available to Charlton fans. I guess it all depends on the result Sunday. Donny win and they will sell out and probabjy get the last two blocks of the west stand (they gave us 3,800 tickets after all) or charlton win and they struggle to sell any more and the tickets are made available to charlton fans.
  • I'm sure @Airman Brown can answer this but if Doncaster sell 1500 then what's the cost effect of splitting the JS stand and having home fans there. You need different turnstiles, different food/beer outlets, extra stewards.

Cost shouldn't be an issue should it, any costs just come out of the amount we put into the "pool" don't they?
  • 141 seats still available in the B block.

I think that's the only time I've sat in that stand.

I remember leaving Uni early that day and getting the train down from Norwich ...

... and then mugged at knife-point on the train back to central London after the game. ☹

As we have housed away fans in the West stand before, Bournmouth spring to kind, if Donny sales are low, stick them in there and give us the Jimmy Seed then we would see an atmosphere.
That has made me think.  What was the game we let home fans use the jimmy seed since we returned.  I’m gonna go for up until the Southend game in 94 when they opened the east stand....could be wrong, but reckon it was whoever we played before that.  I remember sitting in there a couple of times when we returned to the valley.  Definitely against Pompey in 93 when we lost on tv 1-0, almost a year after returning, and again possibly against Peterborough in the latter half of the 92/93 season, April time maybe.  I think one other time against Watford that same season but it’s pushing the limits of my memory as I was around 10 at the time

I’m sure there would’ve been a few on here who sat in there as well
I was in the jimmy seed for the famous Leicester catalog game.

Was 17 got my first monthly wages and a season ticket was the first thing I bought but had to wait for the north upper to open.
I was in there for Bartlets goal of the season.

If the away team only took 1,500 then we got the other half....nearest the east stand.

Never gonna happen even if they win tomorrow, they’ll sell 2,000 tops if they win and even if they did sell the JS stand they wouldn’t get the end of the West

Other things were never going to happen this season. We weren’t going to make the playoffs, we wouldnt finish 3rd on the last day, we wouldn’t sell our allocation for the away game, we wouldn’t get many more than we got for last season’s playoff game. If it could happen, it probably will

My first game at The Valley in 1982....I sat at the back of the away end because a) I didn't know where to go b) £2.50 (compared with QPR £1.10 and Brentford £1) seemed steep and thus entitled me to a seat!!

We did....and also West ham at home on Boxing Day, 1-1 John Bumstead goal.
  • We won t be splitting the JS Seed stand. Period. End of.

There was game at Easter when we were on our way to promotion when we played Luton and they only had about 150 fans (they weren’t having a good season as I recall and we were flying) and were located into the bottom corner next to the west stand and charlton fans were in all the other seats with more or less just a line of stewards sitting between them
  • What was the atmosphere like in the JS when it was split? I'm always amazed at how much noise that stand can generate acoustically but have only ever sat elsewhere.

The atmosphere was pretty good but probably more for the reason that it was before the club had a ‘genius’ Idea of locating the ‘singers’ together in the upper north instead of them being spread all over the ground. It was a bit like being at an away match where songs start from anywhere in the away section and more or less everybody joins in

I had my first season tickets aged 12-15 in the JS. Really loved it, and do miss it. Seems really nostalgic now.

There were loadd of games where the away end was split in half during our Premier League days.
That’s a real mind blown for me.  Genuinely thought we’d stopped using it years ago.  The DJ coach has obviously fraggled my mental capacity somewhat
