Bauer: 8 the big fucking German!
Sarr: 6 felt for him, has won our hearts and that early gaff ruined his final moment this season.
    Purrington: 8 superb
Bielik: 9 I hope we sign him, unreal
Cullen: 9 I hope we try to sign him too. What a player
    Aribo: 9 praying he stays
Pratley: 8 a great leader. Hos presence and puts his body on the line
    Taylor: 7
Parker: 5 I honestly think he has nothing to offer. Make poor runs, Poor decisions, cant finish, doesn't win the flick ons, nothing screams keep him to me
Pearce: 7 great impact and what we needed at that time. A calm leader
Williams: 8 changed the game for me
    Referee: 6

  • Phillips: 7 Tough one this. He was more responsible than Sarr for the goal, switched off. Pretty faultless after, one good save, generally quite.
Dijksteel: 9 Growing game by game. Gets extra mark for standing tall when he could have frozen
Bauer: 9 Sadly leaving I fear, my favourite all time German
Sarr: 6 Love him, but the play offs have not been his thing. Bowyer absolutely spot on to hook him at HT. Red card waiting to happen.
Purrington: 8 Steady at the back and of course was in right place right time. 1-1 get in
    Bielik: 8 usual massive presence
Cullen: 8 Busy and steady, needs to get loaned to a Championship side next season. Let me think which one would be a good fit
Aribo: 7 Great first half, liability at the end. Cullen gave him the ball gave it straight back. Didn’t want to know, total out on his feet gave it his all, but if he wants to play with bigger boys he needs to play 90mins
Pratley: 8 Solid hour, let nobody down
Taylor: 8 Yet another assist, didn’t get many other chances, but him and Parker kept their back line alert all afternoon
Parker: 8 if only he could finish, has massively improved over the last few weeks
Pearce: 8 Real man mountain, nervous Naby was replaced with nerveless Jason
Williams: 8 Game changer, minute he came on the momentum swung our way, the Sunderland defence hated it. He was only on for 25? I wouldn’t be surprised if he was the most fouled player in the whole game. I think he drew 2 yellows
Referee: 8 Big game quietly and sensibly handled

  • Phillips: 7 - Other than the howler, and the good low save soon after, he didn't have much to do
Dijksteel: 8 - Very good defensively, and pushed on well
Bauer: 9 - He had a terrific all round game and the winner was icing on the cake
Sarr: 6.5 - No fault for the OG, but his lack of pace was a worry when exposed
Purrington: 8 - Mister reliable as ever and popped up with a deserved goal
Bielik: 8.5 - Always in command, whether at the back or middle
Cullen: 8.5 - Buzzed around all over the place and won so many 50/50 balls
Aribo: 6 - Just never really got into the game
Pratley: 7.5 - Was our best player first half and all over the place
Taylor: 7 - Made his presence felt, but not one of his better days
Parker: 6 - Bless, he tries so hard but is just not good enough
Pearce: 8.5 - Had a fantastic second half
Williams: 8 - Won plenty of free kicks and his enthusiasm turned the game
Referee: 10 - Had a very good game
  • Phillips 7
    Dijksteel 8
    Bauer 8.5
Sarr 6.5 felt he was getting picked off because we was being over run in the midfield. Courageous sub by Bowyer.

    Cullen 9
    Aribo 7
    Pratley 8

Pearce: 8 Great half a game!
Williams: 9 Changed the game when he came on. Please give him a decent contract!
Referee: 8 As already said left the bookings a bit late. They certainly dished it out to Jonny Williams!
  • Phillips: 7 terrible error to start, recovered well
    Dijksteel: 7.5

    Pearce: 7

    Dijksteel: 8

Phillips: 8 Excellent save from Leadbitter shot while we were under some pressure and a goal down.
Dijksteel: 8 Lovely bit of skill to back heel pass the ball to Taylor for Purringtons equaliser.
Bauer: 8 The BFG pops up at the right place and time to poke it home.
Sarr: 6 OG, yellow card and got caught out by the pace of Morgan. Quite rightly taken off.
Purrington: 8 Great finish to a great season. Sign him up!
Bielik: 8 Strong as an ox in midfield and should be playing premier league football.
Cullen: 9 still can’t work out what he did with his feet to get the space for the cross in the last minute.
Aribo: 8 Pure class but looked like he was running on vapours towards the end.
Pratley: 8 Got stuck in and broke up Sunderlands attacks.
Taylor: 8 Chipping in once again with an assist. Lead the line perfectly and won a few free kicks.
Parker: 7 Worked his nuts up front with Taylor and won his fair share of headers.
Pearce: 7 Shored up the defence.
Williams: 8 Forget Will Grigg, Williams terrified your defence.
    Referee: 7

    At the game

Phillips: 7  Great save after the howler, and dealt well with some tricky high balls in. Nice to have a goalkeeper who is actually ours

Dijksteel: 7.5 Played well, skilful, calm

Bauer: 8.5 Pretty solid at the back and did well for the goal, following up his own header from a near prone position, and what timing!

Sarr: 6 Shame about the rather heavy back pass and looked to be struggling much of the half. Good move to take him off.

Purrington: 8.5 Played well enough at the back and an extra mark for the goal.

Bielik:  7.5 Didn’t seem to notice him much which I guess means he did nothing wrong.

Cullen: 8 Looked very small on the big pitch and some things he tried didn’t come off but got in some good crosses and of course the one for the winning goal.

Aribo:  7.5 Quiet but looked the business when he turned it on.

Pratley: 7.5 Put himself about and was committed, just not good enough for the fast flowing game we play. Good sub to take him off.

Taylor: 7.5 Played well and worked really hard all game. Would have been brilliant if the volley had gone in.

Parker: 6 Stole a living for most of the game, didn’t really offer anything positive, always played the easy pass, didn’t do anything sharp or inspirational. Was never going to score with that flick BUT he did up the tempo in the last few minutes which ultimately led to the winner.

Pearce: 7.5 calming presence, good person to bring on.

Williams: 8 Great going for it sub by Bowyer, really caused them trouble, they were lucky not to have anyone sent off for those cynical challenges.

Referee: 7 Bit too lenient with some of their earlier offences but got most decisions right.
  • Phillips: 6 (minus 1.5 for the howler but otherwise flawless)
Dijksteel: 7 outrageously good flick to Taylor for the equaliser
Bauer: 9 MOTM didn't give Sunderland a kick and provided the best moment in years for us
Sarr: 6.5 didn't play badly at all but the yellow made him a risk
Purrington: 8 so pleased for him what a time to score your first EFL goal!
Bielik: 8 so composed on ball
Cullen: 8.5 a class above, praying we can have him for another year!
Aribo: 7 not great today but was involved in both goals
Pratley: 7.5 rock solid today, was very impressed
Taylor: 7 lovely assist and ran tirelessly
Parker: 6.5 pretty anonymous but tried hard
Pearce: 8 was solid as ever, Sunderland didn't have a chance when he was on the pitch
Williams: 8.5 scared Sunderland shitless when he came on
    Referee: 7.5 pretty good

  • Phillips: 7 (the save so soon after the error shows great character)
    Dijksteel: 8
    Bauer: 8
    Sarr: 7 (still love Nabby)
    Purrington: 8
Bielik: 8 (was excellent again really hope we can have him next season)
Cullen: 8 (was excellent again really hope we can have him next season)
    Aribo: 7
    Pratley: 7
Taylor: 7 (worked hard feeding off scraps great assist for 1st goal)
Parker: 7 (if he had a touch more quality to go along his work ethic and commitment would be some player)
    Pearce: 7
Williams: 8 (game changer such a superb ball carrier what a cameo)
    Referee: 6

obviously all deserve 10 for the achievement but scores given are being as objective as possible

  • Forgot to add can't put in words how much we owe Lee Bowyer he has been a revelation! Thanks Bows and Jacko will enjoy my summer so much more now
  • At the game!!

    Phillips: 6.5
    Dijksteel: 8
    Bauer: 9
    Sarr: 7.5
    Purrington: 8
    Bielik: 8
    Cullen: 8.5
    Aribo: 7.5
    Pratley: 7.5
    Taylor: 8
    Parker: 7.5
    Pearce: 7.5
    Williams: 8.5
    Referee: 7.5
  • Phillips: 6
    Dijksteel: 8
    Bauer: 10
    Sarr: 6
    Purrington: 10
    Bielik: 10
    Cullen: 10++++++
    Aribo: 9
    Pratley: 10
    Taylor: 9
    Parker: 9
    Pearce: 10
    Williams: 10
    Referee: 7
  • Phillips: 6.5 couple of decent saves, but I don't care what people think, at least 50% of the blame for the own goal is on him
Dijksteel: 7.5 what a lovely flick around the corner for the equaliser, he's really grown into the role this season
Bauer: 8 his first goal of the season could also be his last touch in a Charlton shirt, he's cemented himself as a legend
Sarr: 5.5 look he didn't cover himself in glory yesterday but he's not fully to blame for the goal and I think he was unlucky to be booked for a challenge that Sunderland players seemed to be getting away with all game, and subsequently unlucky to be subbed at half time
Purrington: 7 well taken goal and he has been arguably the most consistent player since January
Bielik: 7 solid and dependable for much of the game, not sure why he was named MOTM in the end but hey he played well
Cullen: 7 stepped it up in the second half and started influencing the game more, his intelligence in the 94th minute got us promotion in the end
Aribo: 6 I honestly thought he was disappointing yesterday and barely involved in the second half, but he's been so good in the 5 games beforehand I can forgive him that
Pratley: 6.5 not the greatest footballer, but his calm head after that opening 10 minutes definitely helped things
Taylor: 6.5 a bit like Aribo, wasn't very influential and seemed to drift in and out of the game
Parker: 6 didn't run around as much as normal, didn't look like scoring, the flick at the end of the game was just weird and not something I want to see players trying in the 92nd minute of a playoff final
Pearce: 6.5 did ok when he came on but didn't have too much to do
Williams: 7.5 ran with the ball more than anyone else and got kicked a lot for it, his energy swung the game to us by the smallest of margins
Referee: 6 thought he was too soft on Sunderland to begin with and should have given a couple more yellows out early on

  • For the final time this season your marks please:

Phillips: 7 after the howler didn't put a foot wrong
Dijksteel: 9 thought he was quality in both roles yesterday
Bauer: 10 legendary nothing got past him and that 94th minute will go down in history
Sarr: 6 gotta feel for him the OG was more Dill's fault but he looked a red card waiting to happen and was targeted by their pace. Definitely the right subbing him
Purrington: 10 best he's played for us and what a time to get his first career goal!
Bielik: 8 not on his forward forays as often as in the past but played well at both CB and CDM. Hope to see him back here next year!
Cullen: 8.5 quality in open play, won us so much back, but woeful set pieces
Aribo: 7.5 much quieter and less effective at winning the ball back today, not as decisive with some of his passes either but played an important part in our first goal
Pratley: 9 did what was needed in the middle of the park for 70 minutes, I despaired when I saw him in the starting 11 but am so happy to have been proven wrong
Taylor: 8.5 not at his best but great assist and pulled their defenders all over
Parker: 8 got better as the game went on, and won us the all important free kick
Pearce: 9 imperious at the back
Williams: 9 changed the game for 20 minutes, they just couldn't handle him, and their bookings started to really affect their decision making
Referee: 8 decent, could maybe have booked earlier but good otherwise!

  • Phillips: 6
