I like Josh but I think I’d start DJ, Leko and CBT up front
  • He's definitely come on this season, to the extent where it's no longer a "wildcard" suggestion to see his as a genuine alternative to Stockley. Especially the way we're playing doesn't suit Stockley's game

If you don't get crosses in Stockley is not really a great option.

Davison has lost a lot of weight since last season.
He's leaner, quicker and showing far more energy.

Conversely Stockley looks heavy legged, cumbersome, lacking confidence and can't stop moaning.

Davison should start on Tuesday, with Stockley on the bench.
  • The more I watch of this team, the more I think, if it is to be successful, the centre forward needs to be a supporting role, rather than the main man. All the talent in this team is in the that row of attacking mids - Lee, Leko, CBT, Gilbey, Kirk, DJ, all talented players who can do a lot of damage on their day, especially if they can start to click as a unit. You might even include Washington in that list.

The centre forward just needs to work hard, run the channels and occupy. and ideally pull out of position, the centre backs. If he can do that he will also get goals from the chances those talented players create.

Davison looks much more likely to be that willing runner and he’s not a exactly a total cart horse himself either. Stockley started the season quite well but more recently he has played like he expects to be the focal point (to be fair he was last season). He’s in a rut form wise, which can happen to any player, but instead of knuckling down and working hard to get through the bad patch he’s walking around shrugging and moaning and looks well off the pace of the game. I think he’s a much better player than that but he’s not in a good place right now and I don’t think he’s doing the right things to get back to a good place.

Getting dropped vs Gills should’ve been a wake up call for Stockley but I saw no reaction from him today which was disappointing. Davison looked much hungrier when he came on and quite clearly should be in the team on merit right now. Stockley, on the other hand, needs a spell out of the team.

I had big doubts but he’s starting to show the potential the club saw in him. Deserves to start ahead of Stockley.
And again. Really impressed with how he’s improved. Despite not scoring many out on loan he’s clearly learnt from those spells and worked out where/how to improve.

It’s easy to overrate a player after a few good games but he’s got a lot to his game to make him a dangerous striker at this level. Works very hard, mobile enough to run the channels or in behind, physical enough to play as a lone striker, gets into good positions to score those poachers goals and not afraid to shoot from long range.

I think we’ve uncovered a striker who will score goals in this league and offers a more all round threat that Stockley and Washington can’t.

Who could have predicted Davison and CBT would go from being seen as cheap back ups to possibly becoming key players? And by the end of September?

On his contract it ends next summer but has as a 1 year extension option. Time to activate that or get him on a longer deal if that’s activated based on appearances.

I never thought he'd make it at this level. He's proving me wrong! Strong, mobile, works hard and gets into good areas.

felt sorry for him last night, worked hard, should have scored another. Washington could do with looking at his work rate.
  • Turning into a rare bright spot in a miserable season.

Am i right in thinking he's out of contract next summer? I think we should probably get him tied down soon as if he continues to play and do well, we'll be losing another youngster for free.

The best moment last night was when he played that through ball…..to himself.

To be fair you've glossed over the incident a little bit.

His pass was shite, but Adkins should be showing everyone that clip because he busted an absolute gut to then run and ensure it didnt end up as a wasted Goal Kick - Its embarrassing comparing him to a lot of team mates the effort he's put in these last two games.

I hold my hands up to writing him off pre season. He's come in and done a fantastic job. Levels of effort that, as a fan, you love to see.

One pleasure of watching below first team level (when the club can be bothered to allow it) is seeing players coming through.
I want to repeat that Josh is almost the definition of a good lad, and he usually puts in the effort of two players.
He is not a sensation as such but great to watch.
I am sorry Nige, but his emergence is not down to you unless you count the miscalculations over Stockley as your achievement, opening the door to Josh.
One name not mentioned recently is Morgan, can we be much worse with him in the team? If we’re destined to be crap I would rather it was our crap than expensive mercenaries like Watson and Gunter and Arter.

Yeah I know Arter started here, but he is still an expensive mercenary.

We have been crap with Morgan and allowed him to be crap too. I sadly feel the tone of his season was set by those awful hoofs v Sheff W in the first game of season.

I think he's surprised everyone... Did great at first with Woking but then struggled with Forest Green.

    Josh Davisooon
    Josh Davisooon..
  • Football is about taking chances. Am I Davidson biggest fan, not at all. However, two goals in two games when he got himself in between the goal frame and put away his chances. The way he attempted that shot which hit the post at 1-1 shows hes playing with confidence (Probably the one on the pitch).

Fair play to him for taking his chance. Rightfully will get another chance against Fleetwood to keep up his good form.

  • I know he has scored a few recently but i remain unconvinced.  He certainly isn't a number one striker for a team serious about promotion from L1.  Willing runner from the bench, but we have no one better and I commend his effort and determination.

Many less skilful players have been successful due to work ethic.

Davison will carve himself a half decent career in this mould.
  • Has to be a starter over Stockley whilst he’s playing the way he has been. He’ll only get better too.

Play him, encourage him, let him develop further.
Josh when played right up front is never confused about what his job entails.
Honest lad, kudos to him for his focus.

    Give Davison a chance.

No prizes for guessing he's not the finished article. But come on, he's lean, mean and hungry and he's scored 4 goals in senior competitions already this season.
Look at his movement, tenacity and defending from the front - plus he's shown the anticipation to get himself in the right place at the right time with 2 goals in 2 games.

Who else on our books is doing that?

Washington? Really? He's the player you call out for effort? The guy puts in a shift every game.
He didn’t last night. One point we had a throw in line with the edge of the area and Washington stood and watched , like his feet were glued to the grass. He’d only been on ten minutes

    Davis-son or Da-vison?

I don't know why this should even be a question; Should be Davis-son to me, but I keep hearing Da-vison.

He's far leaner and quicker this season, which is making a big difference.
He was arguably our best player last night and undoubtedly looked like he wanted to win more than the rest.
