Everything said was good, it sounded sensible and plausible.
Now we have to get down to work.
I agree. The only thing that slightly concerned me was not signing Bowyer & Co up until after the transfer window has closed. I’d be keen to hear other lifers thoughts on this.
for what its worth I believe that that this was a Lee B decision, not to negotiate a contract until the new owners had demonstrated their ambition

I am by nature a sceptic, but I couldn't help but be impressed by Matt S. Obviously he could turn out to be a massive bullshitter, but for now I am very happy. You know.
  • A sensible interview, said all the right things without getting too OTT, indeed as well as enthusing the fans, he was trying to downplay things as well!

Enjoyed that. He seems like a nice lad.

Sounds like we have a fair bit of money behind us and especially appreciated him stressing that we will not let academy products go for nothing anymore.

I would like to think there has been an informal talk with LB and his staff about new contracts. Something along the lines of ‘improved wages, longer term deals’ and I’m confident that there is no greed in LB, JJ and SG and they would rather be at Charlton than somewhere else just for a few more pound notes if such an offer came in. Playing careers are short so players do move for the money. Management careers not the same.

    Forever the optimist.
  • Overall, sounded promising and sensible, but not overly exciting.

    It's the Charlton way ,
we could get taken over by Hugh Hefner, Pablo Escobar , Mark Zuckenberg , Bill Gates in a joint takeover and we would still be run as a run of the mill dull as ditchwater operation , plodding along veering either side of mediocrity every so often , twas ever thus and I'm more than happy with that after the last few years of cuntdomness

Got confused by the bit about trying to get a player in in August. Did they have some sort of pseudo ownership agreement with Roland as far back as then, where they could say bring someone in and add it to the sale price? If so the poor Aussi bastards were really strung along.

Yes I think Matt said at some point said it was Bows idea, and that he is fine with it

Murray said that when the Douchebag bought us  :-(

I think he meant 'we' as in the club and not himself inparticular. He mentioned the first contact with Roland was at the end of August so wouldn't have had any say in transfers during the summer window.

Probably just meant "we" as a club, i.e. Charlton trying to get Andre Green, as opposed to ESI.

Lies already.  2 weeks ago they said the first thing they would do after the Takeover was agreed would be to tie down LB & his staff onto longer term contracts & now its that LB's will be discussed in February.

I wonder if the slump in form has anything to do with it....??   Easy get out (with not much compo) if things haven't improved, rather than saddling themselves with a manager they no longer want.

    Just a thought.
    Here we go

Fair point. As much as it may be bollocks, it's still nice to hear I suppose.

As said above Matt clearly said it was Lee and his agent who said to leave discussions till Feb, which makes me think its more Bowyer looking for a way out if the investment isnt made rather than the other way around

and ain’t gonna be taken for a ride just because our financial backers are from Dubai

:o Though never mentioned the premier league
im sure he meant too (but just saying)
agree with others that surely rewarding Bowyer with a new contract now would help I’m signing players (shows commitment from the new owners) I’m surprised Olli didn’t push him more on this question.

it did feel a bit pre rehearsed (I.e matt had seen the questions beforehand and had time to rehearse his answers or withdraw questions)

especially as we haven’t had an official press conference for people to fire questions

anyway he talks the talk - let’s see if he can walk the walk (as every fan will hold him responsible for)

Please share and post your thoughts?

    thanks #UpTheAddicks

Seems like a level headed young man. Said all the right things. Highlighted the marketing and commercial departments so I’m expecting new sponsorship deals and dare I say it sponsorship of the Valley. Just hope they’re true to their word regarding the academy. Cat1 would be a fantastic achievement and would be attractive to the local talent.

Agreed. When he said we tried to get Green from Villa in the summer but couldn't afford him.
I presume he meant Douchebag wouldn't shell out for him, as I don't see how non owners could interfere.

Sounds like lb has instigated sorting his contract after and I’ve no doubt it’s for no other reason than recognising they need to sort the squad out as s matter of urgency this window so it can wait - really feel this ownership is going to be good but we need to respond as fans and fill the ground for it to fully be realised and then the sky’s the limit as to where we  could go
  • for a chairman who wants to connect with the fans I find it surprising that he has not yet connected with CAST.
  • In general good. His use of so many names shows he has shown a lot of interest.
i was not sure I grasped the logic of the Bowyer situation.
at least we were not described as vinegar pissers.

Personally, I didn't learn that much new from that.
He didn't say anything wrong and came across as somewhat nervous, which surprised me.
I thought he'd be very/overly confident, yet the longer it went on the more you knows there were.

Surprised Bowyer's contract won't be sorted until after the window closes, but Bowyer has always said he's not in a rush over his own contract.

Overall, sounded promising and sensible, but not overly exciting.
He could of course be playing things down, as he said agents are already adding 2 zeros to all negotiations.
100% this for me. His body language looked a bit iffy with certain questions and I was intrigued with the decisions he is going to make that will not go down well with us.

However on the whole a huge step up from Roland so can’t complain.
