they did the pre pouring for a bit but seem to have forgotten about it - good to hear its coming back within club control and i've always felt they could get the ale situation sorted better despite previous half hearted attempts - got to say crossbars and bartrams are great - not many clubs have facilities like those where you don't have to pay yearly up front - wonder whether crossbars will revert to that? hope not - there's queues out the door at the moment - not sure how but if more facilities like that could be opened up round the ground but there is definitely the market for it - maybe an increase in prices could stave off the yearly membership thing??
maybe some of the more peripheral facilities that are housed at the valley could be incorporated into the traing ground development and further fan bars opened up?
Get rid of the museum for a start
See how long before Henry bites
Not very long : - )
If that space could have been a bar or lounge we'd never have got it.
Other than the community trust and casino school there is no extra space and no peripheral activities.
Family next to us got back to seats on 62 mins having queued over 25 mins to get something to eat.
personally I go to a football match to watch football, not to wait ages to buy overpriced grub thereby missing a large part of the match .. I suggest 'the family' has got their priorities very wrong
What a hero Lincs.
I’m sure you don’t go to a football match with the intention of going a loo either so lets close the toilets as well.
They are open before and after the game. I understand kids might not be able to last but most men and woman should be able to go an hour and a half without a pee or three.
Back of the East stand needs a cover on it. Used to sit there but who wants to drink and get soaked. Nowhere to put your beer - a shelf would help.
Bartrams too small, good staff, no food.
Fans bar is open at half time - but nobody seems to use it. Big scope to serve pre-booked beers there.
Drinking areas are dull. Bars badly run with untrained staff. Beer crap throughout the ground.
Food is a crap and expensive.
Stewards rude and clueless. Away supporters find them this way as well. I don’t find this at away games. Brighton and Doncaster stand out recently. Brighton because they do it so well, Doncaster because the staff are helpful and good natured.
Lots that is fairly easy to fix. If a bloke in a van can produce better you have to be disappointed.

the museum is a great thing but no reason it couldn't be re created in a container in the car park where people could visit on matchdays

how do u get into the fans bar at half time? via the stairwells???
it'd be a help if the tills were cashless .. I can't think that many people/groups/families don't have a contactless payment card .. this would make the payment process so much quicker and save the problem of 'cashing up' after the game .. the insurance on moving cash around must be quite high .. the cracking brand newTottenham Stadium is totally cashless .. there again it's easy to go cashless when starting from scratch when all systems can be fully mechanised/computerised and be really fit for purpose
Surely it wouldn't be too difficult in this day and age to combine a season ticket with a club specific pre-payment card. You could even set up a standing order so that as soon as you swipe your card to come through the turnstile, the bar staff are alerted to start serving your favourite tipple.

I take it you’re not over 60? 1 before 1 during 1 before leaving for me
You’d be shocked at how quickly it will turn around once you bring everything in house, start paying decent wages to the staff and offer a wider variety of products.
Airman will probably confirm that a £20 ticket nets down to about £12 or something silly...they need these outlets in house, and also look at the quality of the products on offer.
And if a season ticket drops that down to £12 a ticket you probably need/hope that person then spends £50 on other stuff in the ground.
Not season tickets mate. But if they did these offers on a semi regular basis and also offered cheap season tickets they need to make money up in other forms. I would assume the idea of a full ground on these offers they would hope to see a decent up on food and drink revenues to offset.
Bigger crowds probably won’t mean more revenues because there is a limitation in how many people can be served and stay in the area to drink their pint. There just isn’t the room. Even crossbars is limited by the number that is allowed in at any time and that is reached fairly early on a match day.

Yeah and apart from the rush st the start as people wait for the half time whistle to blow before serving, it's easy to get a drink.you need to be there before 12.30 pre game though or youl probably need to queue to get in as its 1 in.. 1 out after a certain amount are in there.

good idea in principle .. but not all match goers are s/ticket holders .. you are presuming that every punter wants his 'favourite tipple' waiting for him as he staggers through the turnstile having had six pints and a full English before the game ((:>) .. I know your post is very tongue in cheek, BUT of course, there are some good ideas hidden amongst the comedy ((:>) .. I can't see ESI forking out too much cash to make the Valley fully 5G compliant.
Do people have experiences from other grounds that they could reference as good practice? If so, maybe a small list of examples and possible solutions could be presented by the supporters groups that have the ear of the new owners?
I would agree with others that the beer selection is terrible.

Try the Bovril instead, it will put hairs on your chest!
I haven’t drunk beer at a game for a very long time however I do buy coke and coffee and I am often puzzled by the way the bars actually work. The only certainty at all Charlton games is that hundreds of thirsty fans will want a pint at half time but there never seems to be very many pre poured. It seems to be the pouring which take most of the time and it’s not exactly going to ruin the “beer” sold!
As I posted earlier, I don’t think it’s legal to do that.
Amongst all of this I will say that Crossbars has been very good. I pop down there at half time, get a drink in and have enough time to finish it and be back up to my seat before 2nd half starts. Mate of mine even got food during that time too.
