He said he disagreed with kneeling during the national anthem which he saw as disrespectful to the flag.
He's since replied to Trump (who "stood by" him) saying stuff along the lines of "I realise now, after talking to leaders in the black community, my teammates, and friends, that it's not about the flag" and going on to condemn racial injustice in the States, and that that's what needs to be addressed.
It seemed like a genuine statement (if slightly edited by a PR team), and I'm happy to see Brees' views shifting like this.

Makes my 40th-round pick of Taysom Hill in my mega dynasty fantasy league slightly less hopeful than I thought for this year, though...
Worth every penny assuming he stays healthy. With the CBA due to include a generous rise in the cap, I assume his deal is linked percentage-wise and is high enough on guarantees so that when he's looking like he's underpaid, he's still earning more in real terms.
What a deal though. Amazing. This could change QB (and other high value position) deals forever.
Obviously as a Chiefs fan, delighted we've tied Mahomes to a long term contract. Of greater concern is whether we can afford the players around him to get us further Superbowls. It's going to be tough. Chris Jones is the first test and I can see him leaving.

He/his team have been adamant from the start that he wants the same as Frank Clark. Not sure how I can see us finding 21million a year tbh.
This situation was always going to come to a head, and I think the day we signed Clark was the day it began.
Think the Jets have easily got the better end of that deal, even though Adams is (for me) the best safety in the league. Two firsts AND a third AND Bradley McDougald, giving up a fourth... Yeah, they've done really well there. But if it gets the Seahawks closer to a Super Bowl - which it genuinely could - I'm sure they won't mind.
Love it for both sides. Seahawks in ultimate win now mode. I wonder if they could get away with not paying Adams until next year and bringing back Clowney.
Thought I’d resurrect this thread before it all kicks off. Missing Hunter for the first 3 games isn’t ideal after he’s been put on IR, but makes Ngakoue even more important and gives Odenigbo a chance he deserves. What do we all think about our teams chances?
Lmao we're apparently "getting creative" with Laviska Shenault at the moment. So instead of run, run, pass, punt, we are gonna go pass, run, pass, punt! Woo!
That said - with Fournette's most recent comments and things like that, it genuinely seems that it's becoming more of a genuine rebuild in terms of culture now, and I'm desperately hoping the lazy "Tank for Trevor" stuff is proven wrong. (I doubt it, as we literally have some guys at RB and who the hell lmao at safety, so... we will see.)
