Just reading up on the old Bexley brewery Reffells.
Started in 1876 and sold off to Courage Barclay in 1956. Shame really, had some interesting labels and as the advertising boasts, bright to the last drop (genius portrayal of the last drop).
Getting our draught beer delivered by Twickenham Fine Ales. Just had 10 Litres of ‘Naked Ladies’ and 5 Litres of ‘Spring Ale’ delivered for £55.50 - which works out at £2.10 a pint. Excellent value for very good beer.
Big Smoke Brewery in Esher also deliver draught bitter in 4 pint plastic containers at £10 each and their beers are also good. We’re just within their free delivery area but they deliver nationwide for orders over £48 - https://www.bigsmokebrew.co.uk/shop?category=Cask
So, back in lockdown I thought I'd resurrect this thread.
I put a few orders in with Bexley Brewery in the end and settled on their "Redhouse" as being my favourite, but they rarely seemed to have it in bottles and buying the milk carton containers was just a bit grim. Tried a few of the others but wasn't overly impressed. But now I seem to have been dropped off their mailing list. Not sure why, but fuck em!
Am now ordering from Westerham and so far so good - nice range of beers and have settled on "Grasshopper" and "British Bulldog" (got one on the go now) as my favourites, with a mention to "Spirit of Kent" too.
Am gonna revisit some of the recommendations on this thread as well, to try and do my bit for the local economy.
You could try the Full Monty Mixed Case and work out which ones you like. Bound to be something that hits your spot, but there will also be some you dont like.
I started with the "core four" case, but wasnt keen on the Viceroy. Not enough to tip it away, of course, but it became a bit of a chore drinking them.
Mr T likes the Viceroy and Spirit of Kent as they are on the more 'bitter' side which he tends to go for. He's been using their 'drive through' for buying but they also do a click and collect.
