32 in 82 starts for us is pretty handy, 27 in 45 starts for Bournemouth after leaving us was sensational. Possibly the single biggest error of the RD era letting him go
Charlton legend and was the jewel in the crown that should have taken us back to the top flight.
I’m not old enough to remember the pre Mendonca era, but I can imagine it was similar to his arrival, after so many years of watching rubbish player arrive and depart he was a breath of fresh air.
Can remember his cameo debut against Chesterfield and being instantly convinced he was class. After 4 years of journeymen footballers he arrived and showed class and was a born winner. Don’t think he lost an aerial battle during that 2011/12 season.
The worst decision in Charlton modern history was giving him away. Will always be welcomed back to The Valley. All the best Yann.
Exceptional footballer and talisman for the team under Chris Powell. Showed what a huge mistake it was to let him go, when he helped Bournemouth win promotion to the PL. Wonder if he will go in to management....
I wondered what Katrien Meire thought when Yann returned to the Valley in 2016 with Reading, scored two, created one and had a worldie disallowed in their 3 - 4 victory over us. He never celebrated because he was class. We could should have had another three years from him. There again I don't suppose she even noticed - the daft cow.
Amazing player, best header of the ball in my 27 years going, and an incredible all round player, one of only a handful in that era who you can say even playing in a mediocre team genuinely turned up excited just to watch that single individual in his own right, with incredible blend of skill, fight, flair and intelligence (a bit like Lyle now). And genuine love of charlton!
Bona fide legend, love the man, one of my all time faves.
One of my favourite players over the whole time I have supported the club. And will never forget the goal he scored against Hartlepool in the last game of the 2011/12 Championship winning season. Knew Roland Duchatelet was a wrong 'un the moment he forced both Powell and Kermorgant out of the club. If only the silly **** hadn't of been so stupid, who knows how many more times we might have seen a picture like this.
What. A. Man. Big leap. Big Heart. Big goals. A Cut-Price-Cantona and my favourite player of the 21st Century, possibly all time. Will never forgive those Belgian twerps for taking him away from me prematurely.
Lots of man love to you Yann, if you're reading this I hope retirement makes you as happy as you made me.
Echo what everyone else has said. Just watching those clips again makes me mad knowing we literally gave him away when there was no need to.....and to then (try) to replace him with Pete the pole.

The man always gave his all and oozed class in everything he did.
Was a top professional and a class act.

Kermorgant and Mendonca would have been something else.
Or replace Mendonca with Bent and you have the perfect balance of pace and the dropping deep of Kermorgant

Enjoy the rest of your life Yann.
Best player since the Premiership days.
Glad for him he got out in a way, probably had a much better time of it at Bournemouth in particular than as.part of our mess.
Still hurts though, lettering him go and wasting more money on Polish Pete than we got for Yann.
