  • I don't think it's that fans didn't believe in their team it's just that in this particular season we have been kicked around so much on and off the field that your self belief gets worn down..a lot of us saw this coming it was inevitable....the team did not have enough fight and I lost faith like many others but it didn't stop me supporting the team though.
Unfortunately for me, supporting the team goes as far as refusing to give up even when the future looks bleak... I dont see the point else

Not a dig by any means but for me its part n parcel along with games like the Play-Off Final, its easy to get behind the team in that scenario so for me its just as easy to believe in the team in a situation like this

As I've said throughout the season when I've argued we'd survive, part of me always felt we might get relegated but that I'd refuse to believe or accept it until it actually happened
The results tonight were a kick in the teeth. 2 injury time winners in 4 days save Barnsley

My fear is that Barnsley won't sue the EFL now and if we sue them, they may take revenge via their investigation of the sale. It is safer for them to delay the points reduction until next season. No point Wigan doing anything about that, as we would be the team who are saved unless they think Derby could still be relegated. Anyway, lets see. We all know Wednesday were charged in November and are as guilty as fcuk!

Only need a 9 point deduction for Sheffield Wednesday now. Go on EFL, you know it makes sense.
  • 9 points is the minimum they can give to Wednesday if guilty. Seeing they gave Birmingham 9 points last season.

Even if Wednesday were deducted, I'd really fear for us next season in the championship with the owner situation, obviously being in the Championship will make the club more attractive to buyers but trying to get in players for the start of the season would be very difficult

Another season of what we've gone through since Jan would be soul destroying
  • I believe it's an independent arbitration that is deciding/ has decided whether or not Weds are guilty and if so, what the deduction should be. Not sure if they also would recommend when the penalty should be administered. You'd think someone will have to make some kind of announcement tomorrow either way..

More attractive to crooks i would also believe.

PV and AB have said League One doesn't affect them. They just need to know who owns CAFC from the EFL.
  • A few saying on Owls Talk that the season has ended so can’t be applied now.
Tending to agree with them on that point, doesn’t make sense.
  • EFL will bottle it especially now that the Barnsley owner with deep pockets won’t pursue it

Surely it hasn’t ended until the play offs have been completed
  • If Sheffield Weds get a reduction I bet Wigan get theirs rescinded. Be just our luck. What irks me more is if Wigan get theirs rescinded it’ll be Barnsley who suffer.

It doesn't end until the play offs are completed but I agree it won't be applied this season if at all. Wishful thinking on our part.
  • Just read on the BBC site that it doesn’t end until the EFL meeting in mid August, but agreed it’s clutching at straws.
In my opinion, and as others have said we should have done better in the last 5-6 games and probably deserve to go down.

Don’t we ‘only’ need a massives 9 points deduction...surely possible.
EFL will give them an eight point deduction then so we go down on Goal Difference

They've not relegated Maccesfield for off field issues, they wont do it to Wednesday too
They have set a precedence with Birmingham last year. Macclesfields case was completely different.....I say in desperation
But as we saw with Macclesfield, they make up their points deduction penalties as they go along
Like your we are staying up bollocks you are wrong here. They are appealing the independent panel two points deduction as they feel it is not severe enough/
lol! Wondered how long it would take - Apologies for believing in my club and sticking by the players

Dont worry I'll take all the comments on the chin about not giving up on survival unlike everyone else who predicted relegation a long time ago
I was one of those who has dug you out. Your one of the most optimistic fans on here and it sometimes borders insanity.

However, you deserve no criticism for keeping the faith and backing Bows/players. So apologies for any little tiffs we had, you don’t deserve any shit for it.

How do you all just say we should have done better etc.....they cheated and it was not a level playing field regardless of when it was done. It's fraud....they cheated and then lied about it...9 point minimum
They did and yes they should be punished. But Wigan didn’t, they don’t deserve to go down. We came back from lockdown, did the hard work and won 2. We haven’t won since, chucking points away against Millwall and Brum in particular. We’ve essentially finished 23rd and deserve to go down.
  • No doubt we deserve to go down, our squad will struggle to be mid table L1. But just for once it would be nice to have some luck and Wednesday get relegated in our place. Being shit in the Championship is better than being shit in L1.
  • Knowing our luck Wednesday will get a 9 point and Wigan will get three of theirs removed

  • We can forget about Sheff Weds as if they get a deduction, they'll surely appeal. No way it'll happen this season now.

I was under the impression that any appeal would of taken place already. Didn't they have 14 days from verdict to appeal.

If they had been found not guilty, I'm sure we would of heard
  • It feels the most likely scenario is that this has been dragged out to ensure the points deduction is next season. If it is so complex to take this amount of time, Sheff Wednesday have to be let off. But they are guilty and they will be found guilty thanks to the longest hearing in history.

Wigan can't win their appeal and won't. It does genuinely sadden me to say that, but administration has a penalty everybody understands and it needs to remain so. I feel a brotherhood with them as we are both clubs fcuked up by cnuts.

Also read that they will be limited to a playing squad of 20 next season and have a 2 year transfer ban.

Assume that means banned from paying a fee though, as they'd have to be allowed loans and free transfers.

Good luck with that....and if they do watch out for the abuse of ungrateful CARD holders who wanted Roland out that led to this...and the revenge is not over yet. With Covid , who will by into football ?
    What is a CARD holder?
