    Was out drinking a couple of weeks ago with a Rangers fan and a Sunderland fan. They were comparing notes on how bad Beale had been for each of their clubs. I mentioned it had looked like he might have joined us at one stage before he went to QPR and they were both of the opinion we dodged a bullet.

    Didn't Sandgaard say he wasn't high profile enough to be interviewed? Then went and appointed Garner?

    If I remember correctly, Beale was angling for the job when Adkins was appointed.
