Is it on sky? Why is it a 12.30?
Not on Sky, they’ve decided all our Saturday games are to be 12.30. We kick off at 6pm on Wednesday away at Birmingham and then again, 12.30 against Wigan next week.

All our KO's are at 12:30 on a Saturday since the restart, I think its to allow more recovery between the midweek / weekend games

I like the squad, team is as I expected really. But the bench looks strong.

Back to 4-4-2 at home then, cant say I'm overly surprised

Did feel against Millwall as though playing Oshilaja on the left was a tactic that had worked against Hull and QPR but not against better opposition

Good to see Bowyer keeping faith with Albie Morgan though who has been one of our best players this mini-season

Is Purrington just not considered fit enough? It’s not as if Oshilaja has been outstanding, he’s done a job. Being right footed slows down our attacks, especially when Morgan and McGeady are also right footed.

Always assumed they've staggered the kick off times to manage the number of people using Ifollow at any one time but that makes more sense

Is McGeady sleeping with Bowyers Mrs? What's he got on him.

Mcgeady does have the ability to bang some into the back of the net, not that we have seen it yet. Hopefully he has been showing this in training and we will start to see this on the pitch - starting this afternoon

Think there’s stronger players on the bench than in the starting lineup. As I said, starting the game well is very important so would of liked our best XI from the off, but in Bowyer we trust.

McGeady just needs reminding he's back in the Championship and isnt in League One now

If he was a bit quicker making a decision and didnt dither on the ball so much then I think he'd do really well in this team

I agree, I just don't get it. Purrington is never going to pull up trees, but in a 4-4-2 he has to be the better (natural) option at left-back.

I know its not a popular opinion on here but I think Purrington is decent enough in the team provided we're playing 4-4-2

Bench looks really strong. Wouldn't have been my choice of starting 11 but, like you say, trust Bowyer

    Pressure game.

Remember whatever side Bowyer selects, whatever tactics he chooses there in another team also trying to win the game.

Aneke and Bonne could be interesting.

I think Williams offers more coming off the bench anyway (see Wembley).

    2 - 1 to Charlton

    Up the Addicks

Not really, he would’ve been in the red zone to start today, he will likely come on and as we have an extra day recovery before Birmingham, I would expect him to start in that one instead.

How the hell does he get in ahead of Williams. I hope he makes me look like an idiot but he's just not very good.
  • I'm sorry but starting McGeady over Williams, assuming both are fit, is bonkers.

He must be REALLY out of condition to not be the default LB in a 442

I just don't get McGeady over Williams.
    Never will.
  • And just noticed Oshilaja again presumably at left back. Why? Surely a left footer like Doughty or Purrington.

    Genuinely confused.

Q: When did Williams last start a midweek game and weekend game in succession?
A: Was the weekend of the Derby game when he played for Wales and then came back and started for us... He didnt get to Half-Time!!

Bowyer said in his press conference this week that he's finding physio: Danny Murphy's input really useful

Previously he'd rotate less and push players more in training and keep players on the pitch in games when they should be coming off - He mentioned in his press conference this week that he's taken Murphy's advice more in terms of when to rest players etc. which appears to have worked seeing the only injured players out are those with historic problems

Pele, Puscas and Moore in the squad for Reading, we are fucked.

Regarding Purrington, I think Bow is thinking of just keeping what worked before. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Purrington start next weekend.

However, today Oshilaja is up against Meite who is quick and left footed, so the fact Oshilaja is quicker than Purrington, and is right footed, could be important reason in that decision today.

Osh has played a part in our wins but didnt expect him still in the team. He has made mistakes that have nearly cost us. Shame we are relying more on a loanee in McGeady than one of our own players in Johnny or Alfie.
