Bogle would be better with a strike partner (which striker wouldn't?) but the modern way seems to be to have someone notionally playing behind the striker. It rarely seems to work like that though.
Bogle seems to be playing to soften up the opposition and occupy the minutes that Aneke is seemingly unable to achieve. Maybe the longer term plan is to slowly build up the stamina of Aneke to an extent where Bogle is reduced to cameos from the bench? I get the impression the management is so concerned about the fragility of Aneke that they daren't ask him to play for more than 60 mins (which in turn means the max you get in the next game is 30 mins). You can see their point; anyone watching that Plymouth game would have seen Aneke look great for 20 mins and then disappear completely. At least last night, Aneke WAS in the game for the 60 minutes he was on. That was encouraging and he does look like he's got a lot of great attributes.
At the moment, Bogle is looking like a Marcus Bent, Leon Best or Ricardo Vaz Te type of signing. Get someone in who at least has a bit of physical presence and experience of playing up front and any goals are a bonus....
I understand why you make the bolded comment but it is unfair in my opinion. Bogle has worked hard and not scored. The other three were Bertie Bigbolloxes who thought they were too good for a shitty little club like Charlton and slouched around accordingly.
If Chuks could play 90 Omar would be on the bench at best I agree but that is not the case so he has to play. I've said before he is a poor man's Leaburn and I think that remains the case. The potential is there for him to set up the likes of Maddison, Morgan or even Williams coming through from midfield and /or Washington or Smyth.
He has been with the Club a short while only and partnerships are still developing. I think he will contribute more soon and we need a little patience.
Harsh on Leon Best, he did alright in the handful of games he had before tearing his ACL
Mistakes are forgivable because nobody means to make them. But not following instructions is a reason to be hauled off. I’ve read some of Bogles tweets (if they are his) and backed up by his performances it seems that LB had a job on his hands. Do what you’re told for the benefit of the team.
Will he start on Saturday?
Who knows. Personally rather get 60 minutes of quality from Chuks and then defend what we have. We simply cannot go behind in the game.
I'd be surprised if we gift as many goals on Saturday. Neither side is in great form.
Charlton have had one bad game in the last 9, winning 6 out of them. We are not in bad form.
I'll counter that with we've had 1 win in 3 & got 1 point out of the last 6. Our 6 game winning streak has hit the buffers & we are now on a downward spiral .
You expect us to win every game? Are we on a downward spiral or have we lost one game in 9?
We're not playing well. Nobody expects us to win every game but given our recent defensive displays there are grounds for concern.
Lee builds the team around a solid defence but injuries have derailed that hence the downturn.
You can't simply keep repeating we've lost one game in 9 and pretend that our recent performances haven't dipped?
Our recent defensive displays? What about them.
fleetwood - conceded two very quick goals, one questionably a foul. Other than that, we looked comfortable
gillingham, aged make shift centre halves only conceded a goal from a penalty
burton - aged make shift centre halves played like aged make shift centre halves.
downturn??? Gillingham was the tale of two penalties. If we scored, we would have won. If they missed, we would have one. It was just one of those days.
burton - very poor but one defeat is a blip, not a down turn.
Bowyer likes groups of 9, in that 9 games, we picked up 20 out of 27 points. We’ve had one blip but still in a good place. People need to stop over reacting!
If our next 9 games read w1 d2 l6 then it’s time to panic.
We didn't concede in 6 and since then have won one in three, conceded 7 goals including shipping 4 against the bottom side. I'd suggest our defensive displays are a concern going by those stats and it coincides with us playing the make shift centre halves that you keep referring to.
If you don't think our defensive displays have got worse since we started picking up injuries that's fine. The number of goals conceded suggests they have.

Behave will you. We’ve had one bad game in 9.
Tuesday was shocking but we had a right back and a centre midfielder as our centre halves.
We had two experienced centre halves who are both very good players at league 1 level on the bench. I reckon one, if not both, will play on Saturday.
Ipswich will be a tough game but the defence will look better on paper.
Tuesday was a blip and not a long term catastrophe as you suggest.
remember notts county coming to the valley when we won the league and scored 4?? Was that a blip or the start of a downward spiral that cost us promotion?
lee bowyer is a very good manager and I’m confident that he will address Tuesdays issues and we will bounce back
Confirmation then that Bowyer subbed Bogle on Tuesday because he wasn't doing what was expected of him ... and not for Bowyer to 'show who is boss'.
Players like Bogle and Maddison are interesting in that they may not be good at coming up with alternatives when things are not going according to plan.
The ball was not sticking to Bogle on Tuesday. I think that's largely due to his poor first touch and because Burton crowded him out.
Under those circumstances, you change the plan. You look for the flicked on header, you look for team mates exploiting the space created by the fact that you have two defenders marking you etc etc.
Maddison was also not getting into the game. Under those circumstances, you have to go looking for the ball. You have to make things happen ... small things at first, then greater things come later.
If the players are not cute enough to work such things out, it is the Manager who has to do their thinking for them.
Hope Bogle who I have never heard of before doesn’t get anywhere near the team for a long time or never wouldn’t care. maddison a show pony and league 1 doesn’t allow that and he can do one too!

Maybe ..... but listening to Bowyer, Bogle wasn't getting in the right positions, wasn't giving 100% and not defending from the front. In short, he's not doing his job.
How dare he score terminate his contract. Ha ha. Some people over react typical Charlton lose to bottom of league then beat Ipswich some of yous have not supported us long enough to know this is how we roll
On our form before we played Burton, should we not expect to beat both of them and Ipswich? After all, Burton might be bottom but Ipswich have lost 7 of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
It just hit him today and didn’t celebrate.. jog on
Yes for someone so desperate to score he tried to steal Innis's goal & so getting it disallowed for offside & deciding at Gillingham that he was now our penalty taker I thought it a bit strange that he didn't show any enthusiasm at breaking his duck.
In the only five minutes this season that Chuks played alongside Omar we scored.
I would be interested to see how this might work in a longer run out.
I think it could work out quite well, especially for Bogle. He doesn't appear suited to the lone striker role and Chuks does draw a lot of necessary attention from defenders, which can only help a strike partner. Sadly for Bogle, we are probably expecting too much from him in terms of softening up defences on his own. But in the meantime, it's great that he scored an important goal and hopefully this will give him a lift after last week's difficulties.

Bowyer said that he won't have it.
He's struggled in the last two along with everyone else.
Not a time for scapegoating. Bowyer has had a chat and we need to see how Bogle responds before writing him off.
he had a difficult job to do but him being in the right place at the right time was the reason we were in the position to see out the game
He didn't go mental, true - but when team mates came over to him, he put his arms round them.
I doubt he would have done that if he was arsey.
I would be interested to see how this might work in a longer run out.
