  • I’m only joking, if he’s got half as much battering ram about him as say, Mathias Svennson I’ll be happy 😉
  • We need someone who can get stuck in and who doesn't think he is too good for the league. Someone that can play Lincoln City at their own game and enjoy it. Welcome Omar.
    4 4 fucking 2 ?

You like numbers? Here's a couple for you:

    2. And 0.

Just Wikipedia’d this striker Dennis Bergkamp some older football fans kept banging on about, terrible scoring record, dunno what all the fuss was about.
Bit old for us now at 51... Not dismissing him yet, will probably still score more than Hemed.
Just did same with Gianfranco Zola, 1 in 5 return and only 5ft6, no thanks #Underwhelmed
  • I think there's a huge difference between between underwhelmed at us signing him because there's better out there, or just underwhelmed because you can't see him firing us up. I'm in the second group and I think 90% of those not jumping for joy will be the same. Unfortunately between the takeover coming late and the wage cap our options were limited and I don't think we could have done much better.

Having said that, I don't think it's fair to criticise the posters who are not massively delighted. In fact, I think it's fair to say we wouldn't have been signing Bogle had we got Schwartz over the line, so Bows and Gallen weren't desperate to sign him. He gives us options, either as direct competition for Aneke or the two of them together. My fear is that Bowyer goes with the diamond which lacks width, and as such the crosses won't come in which you would think would suit Bogle.

  • Schwartz was a vastly bigger gamble than Bogle.
I would probably agree with that, but it still looks as though Bowyer wanted him. Might work out well and I don't mean to criticise Bogle, but I still see him as Plan B because Schwartz didn't sign.

Bowyer seems to be favouring 4-3-3 now. We have some decent options for the two wide players in the front three in Doughty, Maddison, Washington and Williams. We needed a physical striker who could hold up the ball, Bogle will hopefully give us that.

I expect the aim is to bring in a pacey striker on loan and that would have been John-Jules had things worked out differently.

In this extreme hypothetical, the point is that we don't have an Ian Wright, Anelka or Thierry Henry to score goals next to him, or Pires/Ljungberg scoring many goals from midfield. Our main striker is going to have to be a pure goalscorer.

Would you back any of our non strikers other than Maddison to get more than 10?

I actually think Bogle is a decent signing on a free, I just think it now looks ridiculous people being happy that Bonne was going thinking we were going to get 2 better options, this is the reality of where we are at. Bogle would be a good compliment to a Bonne, but his past history suggests we can't be hanging our hopes on him, Aneke or Washington scoring many goals

He looks to have something about him and think he can add to our squad, but it seems like an U21 loan is going to have to be our top scorer if we are going to be successful this year with the wage cap restraints now, and that is a huge gamble

My point isn’t that deep mate.

    It’s don’t judge a player by Wikipedia, that’s all.
  • He's a good addition on a free. Hopefully Bowyer gets him up to speed quickly.
  • Lets just give the guy some time to get used to our
play and set up, before judging him.
The one saving grace in this is Bowyer, i have every faith
in his judgment and perspective on all his signings so far
and feel Bogle will be another piece of the puzzle to get
us out of this terrible league.
  • I’m 200 posts behind on this thread, I can’t stop dolling out the Lols!
  • The constant negativity is boring. Get behind the lad, he might do alright.
    It's grim isn't it.

I'm just grateful we have a club to follow still and an owner who has come in and make a good impression by backing up his words with actions so far.

Done more in 3 weeks than the other pricks did in seasons in that respect.

We're a club that's been a basket case for the best part of a decade. We have been to the dizzying heights of mid table top flight football before and have the potential to do so again...eventually...and it is only potential...but we do not have an entitlement or divine right to succeed just because we have a decent stadium, committed following and won the cup in 47. Many clubs bigger and more successful than us have learned this to their peril.

Need to have realistic expectations at what can be achieved and over what period.

Thankfully TS seems to get that and talk of top flight in 10 years rather than fantasy of it being within reach in less...of course mathematically possible in two but unlikely.

Many of us feared potential oblivion only a month ago or terminal decline as court cases and transfer embargoes loomed heavy.

We're now on a (hopefully) new path with a bloke who seems genuinely committed (from early evidence) to halting the decline and turning us around and are making signings as good as the wage cap and late in the day window will permit.

We're an oil tanker to turn and put on the right route after 10 years of flailing about on choppy waters.

I'm delighted to log on and see we're signing players and regardless of perceived quality want players who want to play for us.

It's a long road ahead before we'll likely see any form of sustainable success but we should ensure we retain perspective of where we've been and what we've experienced the past decade and we're in all likelihood in a far better position overall than when we triumphed at Wembley.
    Well said Rodders...👍

The only real physical presence we have is Aneke, a player capable of half an hour here and there only and not much more. Therefore  I'd say this bloke is needed to bulk the side up (assuming he can play more than Chuks) and his previous record, albeit at a lower level, suggests he knows where the net is.

Bonne scored 11 goals last season. If this bloke can do similar or better we should avoid relegation and perhaps do even better than that.
Steady on Len, don’t get over excited!
  • Seen him play before, is a good player. 1 year deal whats not to like? Good to see someone looking up for it in a Charlton shirt
  • I've got a good feeling about this signing, welcome Omar
  • Play Lincoln City at their own game....  What playing out from the back like a Pep team?

Happy with Bogle.  We need someone awkward and physical, happy to play at the apex.  Magennis was a little more mobile than Iwelumo, but both lacked threat and channel running.  At least at L1 Bogle looks like he has it.  Lets Bogle.

No U21 loanee striker will score us 20 goals.......they'll be lucky to get half that amount.

About the only player to do that over the past 20 years is......Defoe, when he went on loan to Bournemouth.

If we have that much faith in him, why is it a 1-year deal? He's 27.

We just gave a 31 year old a 2-year deal with an extra 1-year option. Strange.
    I agree. The mind bogles.
  • Don't really know to much about the guy other than what's been said hoping he can hold the ball up so it relieves pressure on our defence and with the service that Maddison offers score some important goals
