Match Thread: Charlton Athletic v Oxford United Tuesday 27 October 2020

Matches coming thick and fast, a bit like Robbo in full flow.
Thanks to him, we've get Lee Bowyer as our manager, we're on a run and need it to continue.

Post the team when it's announced.

I’d clap Robbo if I was there....

Don't understand why Bowyer feels he has to play either both of Watson + Pratley or none.

Defense seems solid enough that we'd only need one DM in midfield.
  • Options
Charlton: Amos, Gunter, Famewo, Shinnie, Washington, Pratley (c), Bogle, Maatsen, Inniss, Watson, Smyth

Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Purrington, Williams, Forster-Caskey, Aneke, Maddison, Levitt

What like the second halves against Blackpool and Northampton?

And for those who prefer it in plain ol' English:

Charlton: Amos; Gunter, Inniss, Famewo, Maatsen; Pratley (C), Watson, Shinnie; Washington, Bogle, Smyth

Substitutes: Maynard-Brewer, Purrington, Forster-Caskey, Williams, Levitt, Maddison, Aneke

Hopefully we can get at least 30-45 out of Maddison tonight

Watson and Pratley again *sad face*. Guess we are playing 4-3-3?

Suprised to not see one of JFC or Williams instead of them.

Expect I will be frustrated at some of the football we play, but not care at the end of the day if we get another 1-0.

Hopefully Maddison will get some minutes.

Waiting for a rant from Leuth at that midfield ;-)

Ironically this one is probably a game better suited to Levitt than Pratley but hey ho. COYR.

Both games won in the second half. Wonder why he won't try it from the start for a change.

I am guessing that Watson and Pratley will be the midfield we love to hate!

    Deffo 4-3-3 you'd reckon.

Got the 2 old boys acting as enforcers to protect the defence, with the not much younger Shinnie in front of them.
Midfield looks a bit turgid and one paced.

    Bench, by comparison, is glittering.

Smyth and Washington on the wings.

Smyth and Washington out wide I imagine.

Thats what I was thinking. Don't they all play up front?

    Williams started on Saturday...

And that’s why you quote your replies. :-)

Smyth is a winger really and Washington has played out wide before.

    Could be, Henry.

Especially if Bowyer thinks Robbo will spring a surprise and play 4-2-3-1.
Like Curbs, Bow does like to match up to start with.

Smyth is the 'new' Alfie Doughty.

The bench looks more potent as an attacking force than the starting line up

Keep it tight in the first half, go for it in the second, especially away from home... thats always been the Bowyer way

I know we're at the Valley today so should be more attacking but as @Sage says, others arent up to speed so its a bit limited in Midfield
