  • Not sure Lee is motivated by money, otherwise I think he'd have left already
I'm sure he is not motivated by money. Nor I am - but everyone has their price.

I don't think he will go to WBA, for all the reason pointed out above.

But I am not sure the "he didn't go when we were a basket case, so he won't go now" is accurate.  No one would have blamed him if he had walked any time between March and September but maybe he knows that if he had what the consequences would have been, for the club.
And then of course there was the one good thing Southall did, sign him up to a long contract
  • I can’t see it personally. Pandemic would probably stop him even considering it.
Eddie Howe is a great shout.
Knows how to keep a team in the Premier league (despite last season) and out of work.
  • I don't think it unrealistic to expect both clubs to be in the same division next season even if he were to go there.

What is to be gained career wise would be my thoughts in his shoes. Being linked with a relegation from the Premiership would likely rule out the sort of club he might aspire to.
  • If Bilic can’t keep WBA up with all his experience, I doubt LB could either. I would imagine that he is here for what looks like an interesting ride. Sensible owner willing to invest, stabilised club, very good squad in place, promotion already looking a strong possibility, WBA looking doomed, risk of tainting his young management reputation........it all adds up to Lee staying. Surely?
  • He wont go to.WBA. Once a blue remember......
Not sure this matters having lived with a few baggies once. They dont like wolves.

Money talks. If this is serious then its all up to sandgard.
  • He wont go to West Brom, for all the reasons mentioned above.

I think the only realistically offered jobs that would see him leave now are Leeds and West Ham. Maybe Newcastle.
  • Taking off my Charlton tinted glasses, if he was offered the job at a Premier League team who, despite some of the comments on this thread, have a reasonable chance of survival this season I reckon he would take it.
  • He will go, maybe not soon, but to a better job than WBA.

  • I think West Brom is one of the last places Bowyer would go right now. The owner doesn't really engage with the club and doesn't want to invest any more money, but also can't seem to sell it. That resulted in Bilic having a much smaller budget to work with than he needed, not getting all the players he wanted and losing player he wanted to keep so the books could be a balanced. I think given the couple of years he's had with Roland Bowyer would much rather spend some time working with Sandgaard than jumping across to a similar situation to what he's finally escaped. Bilic also fell out with the Director of Football, and I think Bowyer's good relationship with Gallen is another real pro for him, so he won't fancy losing that either. Unless he just really misses Karlan Grant

  • Does he want back to back relegations on his CV ...

Imo he’s settled down in Kent with youngish children .
It would take a monster offer to leave the area or Gillingham ...

seriously he will go when it suits him , so if West Ham came in for him he’d be gone in a shot cos of location location location and that’s what we have going for us against the likes of West Brom .

of course the stability and ambitions of TS give us more attractiveness but Bowyer has stayed with us during the wank ownership because it suited him not because of some magical bond to the club that some fans believe exists between players/managers and our club.

He'll take the Millwall job after Rowett gets them promoted and pushing for a CL place next year and Man Utd poach him.

Chris Powell will then takeover the reins from Hodgson at Palace and say it's "Great to be back at his boyhood club who have an immense away following and are the best fans in the land".

    Happy Friday mate.

    :-)
    Pass the rope ;-(
  • I guess the fact that journo says Bowyer interviewed twice for the job before Bilic got it, suggests he'd certainly be interested, and that was when they were just a championship side.

But that was obviously pre-Sandgaard and he's clearly going to be a lot happier in his current role now than he was back then.
  • What’s the situation with Bowyer’s contract?

The one he signed when Mouthall was pretending to be chairman, is that still valid or has TS made any moves to secure a new valid one under his ownership?
  • Really can’t see this happening. Not sure Bowyer is ready for a premier league job just yet. He’ll at least want to stay and get us established in the Championship I should imagine as well. I think he will be us for another few years. Unless it’s a job offer that he can’t refuse - which I doubt West Brom is.
  • A lot has changed at Charlton I would like to think LB is relishing the transformation of the club and his part in it.
  • I know Leeds, West Ham and Newcastle are all bigger clubs but doubt any of them are going to get higher than where TS is aiming to take us and i'm pretty sure LB will be relishing being the man to see if he can get us there. What i've liked about LB, as opposed to Curbs, is he has openly declared his love for the club - despite being a west ham fan as a a boy and coming from Canning Town. His actions so far have indicated it ain't bullshit. Curbs was never prepared to say such things and that was always a black mark against him in my book. In Bowyer we trust and in TS we trust to ensure LB is suitably rewarded for his ability and loyalty as we go forward.

Its as simple as this really.
  • Can't see it happening.
Its quite possible we will be meeting them in the championship next season.
But, we must expect more interest from other clubs impressed with the way he manages the club.
  • I'll stick my neck out and say there's zero chance of LB going to West Brom
  • He didnt leave when the club was a joke so why would he move now everything is settled and normal? Its bonkers!
  • He didn't go in the summer when we were a mess and there was serious interest, I'm told.

Never say never but can't see it happening just yet.
Agree with this. Lee has always seen this as a journey and stayed on the trip when the going was anything but smooth. He must see that with TS the road ahead has straightened. He also knows that his own star is still rising and when the time comes which it will he will have a pick.
  • He knows grant and Gallagher already which may help.
  • West Brom fans seem more horrified at the prospect of this happening than we do
  • It is going to be a job for any manager to keep WBA up. He is very likely to be in the same division next season staying where he is and having a relatively enjoyable season.
