Possibly, although the key word there is 'upgrade'. Most watch junkies don't upgrade, they just keep adding to their collection.

I had the road cycling "burden" in the last month then watch fancier in me has bubbled to the surface as well!1 -
Orient Crystal Mexican watch. I have small hands/wrist and this auto is quite subtle. Love it. £276.

Last year I did a watch building experience with these folks: https://www.watch-supply.co.uk/pages/live-courses-in-london
was a fun few hours. You select the parts to build a watch and then get to put it together with the support of the staff.Might be of interest to some of you, I certainly enjoyed it. You end up with a decent watch at a reasonable price.3 -

Can't face talking about football, so watches it is!
Managed to get a new Rolex explorer 124273, 36mm, stock image below.
and waiting for these to be released as will order.
https://www.maenwatches.com/products/lunar-classic-m7-1-2
Watch prices are certainly dropping, I got the explorer for £1.4k below list (and it's 2024 brand new), was offered a Cartier Santos, whilst a 2023 still with all tags and stickers etc, retail £6,700, offered to me at £5k but with some negotiation will let go for £4,650, just not my cup of tea.
Also nabbed a Patek Nautilus when in Lanzarote - 40 Euro's :-)6 -

Medium Model, Steel - Ref WSSA0029, steel and orange strap, white face. The guy did have a 0061 also, green face and strap but bizarrely wouldn't go much under 6k.1

I wouldn’t consider myself a watch fancier, but my other half just got me a Hamilton Ventura for my birthday, if you know the history of this watch then you’ll know why I’m very happy to own one.1
-
The Ventura was the first electric watch?1

Really like the new Zeniith El Primero Hodinkee Limited Edition

Rob's Explorer (nice!) at 36mm will have a dial size approximating to a 40mm diver because the Explorer has a much thinner bezel. For example, my 37.5mm Clemence Munro wears just as big as my 40mm Sub.It's what it looks like to the eye rather than getting the measuring calipers out!

I've never thought of myself as a watch fancier, but perhaps I am. I spent more time admiring the clock than watching the match last night.6

I also have the issue of small wrists, so anything above 40mm looks like I'm 11 years old and borrowed my dads watch
As bob says, sometimes the measurements don't give the full picture.1 -
Two watches of huge sentimental value to me (and one worth far too much in £'s!)
The first was my dads daily that I remember as a young kid (so 70's) - think he got it for his 25th birthday so around 1968, manual wind, as far as I know not been serviced for 25+ years yet keeps almost perfect time. Worthless to anyone bar me. In immaculate condition considering the age and use.
The 2nd was my grandads, later passed to my father and then me, a present from Fyffe's for 25 years service as their importer in 1956, it's 18ct, even the strap, hands and hour markers, Omega lettering and badge, it lives in the bank most of the time, comes out for special occasions, last time I wore it was my fathers funeral in 2017. Very unusual clasp which was patented at the time, was offered £3k just for the strap! But it's going no where (literally!)9
