My son is a ground hopper and 12 matches out of 22 in the lower leagues that could have had spectators up to Midnight within 20 miles or so have been called off because of the pandemic.
His second choice was Croydon Athletic v Charlton U21 but according to the Croydon Twitter is off because of positive tests of opponents.
All this 'we've got too many COVID cases and the whole squad's got to isolate" is just so much convenient bullshine - those gasbags (pirates hah!) are running scared of the mighty Addicks and the hostile arena that is the capacity filled Valley (cap 2000) Rovers know fine well that the piss weak workshy charlatans at EFL won't lift a finger to "investigate" this or any other of the late postponed fixtures, Tisdale's no fool, he's swerved a coupla matches to get to work on his squad and get his players in as soon as the window opens, plus they all get Christmas off as well. [this is a joke Mr Tisdale, don't sue me]
We Addicks need to keep our powder dry for the moment tho. EFL jurisdiction is a pathetic farce and can be discounted. Bow needs to keep a couple of expedient "Oh dear, too many ill/isolating, we can't play tomorrow, the next day, next week, what can you do, it is what it is..." up his sleeves for times when injuries & suspensions get out of hand or form drops off a cliff. All the while EFL refuses to pay for player testing, clubs are free to take the piss, cos there's no way for the "truth" to be examined until after a club does what Rovers did today and by then it's too late the ship's sailed. Sheff W didn't get meaningfully punished for willful cheating plus lying about it on top, Birmingham got let off their flagrant transgression of EFL directly imposed sanction - there's no way in heaven, hell or hackney that EFL has the first notion nor willingness to police this, it's essentially open season for clubs to bugger about with the fixture list to their heart's content, "cos y'know: COVID -sad-face-"
It's my birthday today and with practically nothing to do the game was going to be my highlight of the day. Bloody Covid, it's really pissed on my chips this year.

We'd have only lost mate and pissed you off even more.
Oh boo. Was going to be my first game since we lost to Boro in the Championship in a god awful game last season, was really excited to be going. Hope the Rivers lads are all ok.

You share it with both Derek Hales and Alan Simonsen!
Unless, of course, you don't share it with both of them, Addick 'up North' ..🇩🇰🤫

not sure if this is tongue in cheek but nevertheless I totally agree. There seems to be no real policing around testing or results......how stupid were we to play recent games when we effectively had no centre halves fit. We gifted (literally) Burton & MK Dons 3 points & should be much cuter & use the Covid testing rules to our advantage.

Happy birthday
Could have written your first sentence myself, taking comfort that this might well have prevented a whole lot of misery in the cold at 10pm to really spoil a birthday
"The Brewers were recently hit hard by Covid-19, and had to take on Hull City last weekend without a total of 11 players, due to infection, others having to self isolate and injuries"
So how come they were made to play their game but Rovers can just cancel theirs?
Bristol Rovers' next two Sky Bet League One fixtures have been suspended.
The club has advised the EFL it is unable to fulfil the fixtures due to an outbreak of Covid-19, with players and first-team staff required to self-isolate in line with EFL and Government guidance.
As a result, the upcoming fixtures with Charlton Athletic and Oxford United scheduled to take place tonight and on Saturday 19th December respectively, have been suspended and the circumstances surrounding the postponements will now be the subject of an investigation in accordance with EFL Regulations.
Revised dates for the rearranged fixtures will be confirmed in due course.
My hoped for fall back position is a free live stream this evening of Dulwich Hamlet v Cheshunt in the FA Trophy Third Round Qualifying. Kick off advertised for 7.45. Now Dulwich have had to adjust tonight's game to behind closed doors at Champion Hill after talking to Southwark Council, but they have been streaming their games free of charge here:
I don't know for sure if there are different rules for streaming their league games as opposed to their FA trophy games, but I am hopeful there will be some live football to watch this evening.

Don't hold your breath waiting for the proverbial "EFL investigations", should get a decision by the end of the season, maybe, subject to any appeals

Groundhopping, what a strange hobby.
Only about 50 grounds watching Charlton but pre covid he would travel the world and watch matches. He has seen games in 28 different Countries including UAE, Serbia,Georgia, Singapore and Brasil including the Maracana.
He watched British Airways FC play at the end of one of the runways on Saturday and got some great pics of planes as well as trying out his new camera on the football action. BA Fc 2 Sandhurst utd 1: Despite Sandhurst bringing out the big guns they are a team of Officers and Gentlemen but couldn't contain the BA team who were very good in the air.
Soapbox Sam junior saw an aircraft made of bubbly chocolate, he thinks it was an aeroplane.
What do you get if you cross a plane with a magician? A flying sorcerer.

Invisible planes. I can’t see them taking off.
I thought British Airways groundshare with Bedfont and Feltham.

Does anyone know (including the EFL) what the rules regarding postponing games due to Covid actually are? That seems very unfair on Sunderland and would hate us having to play a game with eight players self isolating and six out injured.
"...due to the lack of clarity regarding potential sanctions SAFC could face in the event that the fixture was unfulfilled."
EFL, lack of clarity, surely not! Assume this means Bristol Rovers are happy to take any punishment for not fulfilling the fixture (which let's face it, is probably no punishment at all)

MORE4 tonight 9PM:
The black death:secret history.
The plague of the 14th century.
What too soon ?
What needs investigating?
If punishment for some reason is required i suggest giving Charlton the 3 points.
At the very least BR need to re-imburse Charlton for expenses, if there is no clear reason why they could cancel but Sunderland could not.
