Sadly I can’t see this ending well for bowyer, throwing the team under the bus after the way he has been managing lately seems very odd. I would be amazed if his post match interview has any effect of a positive reaction, if that was his aim.The players don’t seem to be playing for him anymore, you can’t sack a whole team, so as they say the buck stops with the manager. Bows does seem to be going down the Roy Keane path, also shades of the all round negativity mourinho brings when things go tits up for him. They turn to blaming everyone else but themselves.
Would be interested to see Roy Keane in that dressing room after that
I have never been part of the "Bowyer Out" brigade, I've been a more cautious member of @ForeverAddickted's group.
However, after this evenings post-match interview I think the manager has had enough.
He hasn't just thrown a player or two under the bus, he's put on full Rambo outfit, lobbed a couple of smoke grenades into the dressing room and started spraying bullets everywhere.
There can't be a player left in that squad who'd want to run through brick walls for the boss.
It's a sad day for the Charlton Athletic Football Club.
Sadly I think you are right. Welcome to Danish Dan the next manager of Charlton some no mark that fans can get behind for a year.
The point is Bowyer has to take responsibility for that shit show. Then perhaps genuine fans would be more willing to draw a line under it and allow Bowyer to do what he needs to do behind closed doors. I think it is very poor management to single out individual players publicly like he has done.
It's his style and I don't know why people are shocked by it. I'm just saying be careful what you wish for.
What do you mean by that comment? I don't accept that style of management. I just wish he would take some of the responsibility on himself, that is all.
Bowyer is not alone in his style of management is what I mean. Managers call out players to get a response, sometimes it works, it's clearly not working for him.
Take no notice 1968, most of the posters on here believe that only they have a divine right to an opinion, write what you want and take pleasure in the fact that you are annoying the soppy little pratts.
Says the man, who the resorts to calling people childish names......
unfortunately the fallout from the demise of our team under LB are some of the worst divisions ever seen in our fan base. An petty name calling and arguments. We are living in a depressing troubled time (not LB,s fault) but our team imploding in front of our eyes every week, is adding to this agony, and I’m sure to the depression of some of our fans.

So when you used the Trump analogy you didn't use it to belittle someone? Then when I tug you and the other other self righteous twats on here you decide you climb up on the moral high ground and start linking Co vid and depression to the fact someone disagrees with you. Jog on you nob !
Oh...... well we really are in the playground. I won’t come down to your level. I come on here for debate, and shared opinions, with those who agree and disagree with mine. You obviously don’t........
You gave 1968 a tug by accusing him of having a Trump supporter mentality or have you forgotten

Problem is these guys expect the players they manage to be as good as they were. It’s not realistic and not conducive to good management. If bowyer is still with us at the end of the season I would take it as a good sign because it means he’s probably sorted out the current mess. But I’m not holding my breath with that one. Weve all seen managers sacked with far less good reason for it to happen.
The last article reads much better than the twitter quotes.
That's what I thought to be honest. A little more level headed - though had a few messages from non Charlton supporting friends today saying sounds like your manager has lost it.
I agree with this but Bowyer called him out as well in his interview! He clearly doesn’t rate him like he does Pratley and Watson. It must be horrible for the individual to play under those circumstances especially someone like Deji who, despite his limitations, never gives less than 100%...
As a manager or a supporter , no matter how the result goes, you should be able to rely on the players giving 100%.
The oppo gave everything fought for every 50/50 and deservedly won.
Agree 100% with Bowyers comments and appreciate his honesty.
The players let him and us down tonight.
Whether or not you agree with Bowyer’s comments is irrelevant - the place for that is in the dressing room or the training ground behind closed doors.
If one of my senior managers criticised his or her staff in public, including claiming to not care about their welfare, their feet wouldn’t touch the ground as I escorted them from the building.
it is piss poor people management, pure and simple.
Maybe , but Football isn’t quite like every other industry though is it ?
I could be wrong but I haven’t seen a court case where a footballer has sued for constructive dismissal over a managers comments.
Maybe he has tried doing it behind closed doors with Maddison and that hasn’t worked ?

Don’t think they necessarily think they want them to be as good as they were, if they haven’t got the ability , but they can work as hard and put in the effort.
You can excuse not having the talent , but IMO you cannot excuse not working hard.
Really poor, dont blame Bowyer the starting 11 purely on pedigree and ability are good enough. Mentally too many of them daydream, havent got the right level of commitment and shamefully I thought 2 of the midfielders were actively hiding
Completely understand Lee Bowyer digging the players out and its obvious who he was talking about. He has high but completely achievable standards and watching players hide from the ball, pull out of 50/50s and look to take the easy way out is not on
Accrington were good for the win, we made them think they could have had 4 or 5 and they should have

That’s better, you have taken my comment in a way it was not intended. I was trying to give an example of undying support and loyalty of a lost cause. If my choice of Trump is regarded as insulting I apologise.

It's not a great style as it doesn't seem to work. We can't play much worse.
We can and have played worse, many nights I travelled home watching us at shitty Selhurst. And many times under many managers since. Bowyer had no interest In football after he retired. Robinson with his gob somehow talked him into coming back(maybe he was wrong). Bowyer was then left in charge and done an amazing job under the circumstances. I'm not saying that makes him untouchable but I'd give him this season with the new ownership to build. I don't think he will even get this season though as it appears so many want him gone. So when some random Danish manager rocks up with a Charlton kit on I'm sure everyone will behind him.
Weren't we in the top tier for most of the time at shitty Selhurst? We were never rolled over by fucking Accrington Stanley. Liverpool, Clough's Forest, Arsenal, Spurs maybe but fucking Accrington Stanley?!?!
Karl Robinson lost a lot of the fan base by loosing to Gillingham. But fucking Accrington Stanley?
The wage cap isn't an excuse because they didn't make us pay Gunter and Watson about half of their 1st 11s wages.
I am not embarrassed we lost to Accrington Stanley, I am embarrassed we didn't give our selves a chance to win and were out played, out thought and out battled.
I get an ever increasing sense week by week that Bowyer would rather be on a lake fishing than be a manager. Saying you don’t care about a player being injured is an absolute disgrace. Thanks for everything Bows but you’ve got to go now
First time posting. This might be slightly contrarian, and whilst I don’t agree with some of Lee’s comments, I think we need to have some sympathy that he is still working with hands tied behind his back somewhat. Yes, he’s got an owner that supports him but what good is that when he can’t utilise the war chest that may or may not be available to him? Somehow we’re still within touching distance of the top six which is a minor miracle within itself. The pressure is clearly getting to him, but let’s not forget 90+4 and how we so nearly stayed up last season when we had no right to. I’m backing Lee to turn this around, but tonight’s result hurt.
The point is Raplh that if someone makes a comment on here it is their opinion, its neither right nor wrong, its just their opinion. There are quite a few people on here who rip into to people because they don't agree with them, trying to almost troll them into shutting up. Don't become one of them Raplh .

I get your point, however do you think his comments are going to get a positive reaction? I’d say it’s unlikely as things may have gone too far to repair.players are just going to down tools if they are pissed off with the manager.remember mourhino at Chelsea a while back, the players properly stabbed Jose in the back, although he probably deserved it.lol.
In the match thread I said Bowyer had one hand tied behind his back given the quality (or lack thereof) of players available to him.
Unfortunately after his post match comments I can only conclude that he has tied the other hand behind his back all by himself and put a blindfold on for good measure.
Lee - please. Take a look in the mirror. Sort it out ASAP or you'll be gone a lot sooner than I expected.

The problem is that he isnt getting the best out of them & they are good players.
John Coleman has less talent to work with & they are a solid unit who work for each other and win games.

John Coleman has his hands tied behind his back managing a team with one of the lowest budgets across the football league. I'm sure he would have loved to be able to bring in players like Chris Gunter, Ben Watson, Alex Gilby, Marcus Maddison - players who have all proven to compete at this level.
Worrying performances for me tonight from players who have, can, and should play better.
Gilbey again absolute toilet but gets 90mins. He hides, plays safe balls sideways the whole game, just 'passes the buck'
Im one of Morgans biggest fans but he looked lost tonight, almost disinterested for a player who always wants the ball.
Pearce, still thinks wrestling players is an art.
Maatsen, so impressed to start with but just looks to be trying to avoid injury if you ask me recently.
Gunter 99 International caps but gets turned inside out by a league one winger every week.
Honestly there is no way back for me this season with the players we have, course I'll still watch every game just like the past 40 years but there has to be some (very) drastic changes this season for us to make top 6.
Positive - Deji played really well for me
Agree with nearly all that bar the highlighted bit.
Maatsen to me is an 18 year old struggling in an out of form side who is not getting the support he deserves from his so called seniors and betters.
I just hope Chelsea don't recall him because that really would put the cap on it.
Yeah probably a bit angry as I called it first half that hes going to get injured by not going in for tackles, his lack of challenge IMO cost us the 2nd goal, or at least made it easier for them.
What does bother me a bit is why we’re blooding an 18 year old from another team who, as you’d expect, is extremely raw when someone like Barker, one of our own, isn’t anywhere near the first team when we’ve been lacking support at centre half for a while.
Really poor, dont blame Bowyer the starting 11 purely on pedigree and ability are good enough. Mentally too many of them daydream, havent got the right level of commitment and shamefully I thought 2 of the midfielders were actively hiding

That could well be the case - but for all we know he may have tried the softly softly approach , had a word with Maddison behind closed doors etc etc and this was the last resort. After all he praised him a few weeks ago for working hard for the team .....
i know that Lee’s comments are going to polarise opinion and you may well be right , but we don’t really know the whole story.

You mentioned Accrington Stanley a lot then say you aint embarrassed? Yes we didn't lose to them whilst playing at Selhurst but we were still awful to watch there against whoever we played. I'm as lost as you why we ain't battling but Im hoping LB can sort that out still. The wage cap is not an excuse it's a fact and it's fkd us. I just think LB needs a bit of breather and change of plan. I don't think he will be given that time though

Absolutely agree about having to work hard, but I fear it’s the ole chestnut of not working hard on purpose so the change is forced. Bowyer has maybe ruffled too many feathers to get everyone back on side.I mentioned somewhere else about mourinho at Chelsea a few seasons back, they had great quality like hazard and they downed tools with there being only one outcome, goodbye mourinho. I fear that’s where bowyer is now.

You and your diplomacy.
If the player that told J Block Bowyer's lost it and tactics were non existent, is being honest then it really must be an option.
Weird thing is he's lost all his passion and bite on the touchline.
