I’m starting to think Bowyer was the right man at a bad time, but he isn’t the right man at this time.
Utter Bollocks !! Look at all our injuries and our bloody defence 😂😂😂😂
You are a member of a small and diminishing group of BOWYER apologists. Your like the Trump mob...... totally brainwashed that he is the only man for the job.
Oh I see. So YOU are a member of the Ruling Party, the larger mob, so only your opinion counts?
Maybe it's actually a matter of quality over quantity.
No.. when I started to question whether LB was the man for the job, I was in. Small minority. But, as I said more and more are joining this opinion. Which meaans they have changed their opinion from the one previously held. Maybe YOU will change yours at some point. Until then we have this forum for debate. I am purely interested in what are the tipping points that make people switch. My comment indicates that I believe some people, would be backing LB as the man no matter how bad it gets.
OK Got it now. Thanks for clarifying, only the 'Trump' and 'brainwashed' labeling came across as a put down as opposed to an interest in tipping points.
I think his comments were about two players bottling tackles and he also named his two centre backs as lacking in desire to battle their front two. Is he right ? I remember Denis Rommedahl jumping out of the way of a tackle at West Brom, most supporters were furious but Curbs never uttered a word publicly. These are different days perhaps but the fact for me is Bowyer decides he won't put up with it and was correct about both players actions. I don't like Maddison as a player and this is not the Jonny Williams we knew two seasons back, if it were me I simply wouldn't play them which is what Curbs did with that Tosser Rommedahl.
I have never been part of the "Bowyer Out" brigade, I've been a more cautious member of @ForeverAddickted's group.
However, after this evenings post-match interview I think the manager has had enough.
He hasn't just thrown a player or two under the bus, he's put on full Rambo outfit, lobbed a couple of smoke grenades into the dressing room and started spraying bullets everywhere.
There can't be a player left in that squad who'd want to run through brick walls for the boss.
It's a sad day for the Charlton Athletic Football Club.
Sadly I think you are right. Welcome to Danish Dan the next manager of Charlton some no mark that fans can get behind for a year.
The point is Bowyer has to take responsibility for that shit show. Then perhaps genuine fans would be more willing to draw a line under it and allow Bowyer to do what he needs to do behind closed doors. I think it is very poor management to single out individual players publicly like he has done.
It's his style and I don't know why people are shocked by it. I'm just saying be careful what you wish for.
It's not a great style as it doesn't seem to work. We can't play much worse.
We can and have played worse, many nights I travelled home watching us at shitty Selhurst. And many times under many managers since. Bowyer had no interest In football after he retired. Robinson with his gob somehow talked him into coming back(maybe he was wrong). Bowyer was then left in charge and done an amazing job under the circumstances. I'm not saying that makes him untouchable but I'd give him this season with the new ownership to build. I don't think he will even get this season though as it appears so many want him gone. So when some random Danish manager rocks up with a Charlton kit on I'm sure everyone will behind him.
Weren't we in the top tier for most of the time at shitty Selhurst? We were never rolled over by fucking Accrington Stanley. Liverpool, Clough's Forest, Arsenal, Spurs maybe but fucking Accrington Stanley?!?!
Karl Robinson lost a lot of the fan base by loosing to Gillingham. But fucking Accrington Stanley?
The wage cap isn't an excuse because they didn't make us pay Gunter and Watson about half of their 1st 11s wages.
I am not embarrassed we lost to Accrington Stanley, I am embarrassed we didn't give our selves a chance to win and were out played, out thought and out battled.
You mentioned Accrington Stanley a lot then say you aint embarrassed? Yes we didn't lose to them whilst playing at Selhurst but we were still awful to watch there against whoever we played. I'm as lost as you why we ain't battling but Im hoping LB can sort that out still. The wage cap is not an excuse it's a fact and it's fkd us. I just think LB needs a bit of breather and change of plan. I don't think he will be given that time though
The wage cap hasn't fucked us, how we spent it fucked us. How many Accrington players wages do you think Gunter's and Watson's cover?
The same is true for Burton, MK Don's, Shrewsbury etc etc. I'll give you a clue, it's about 5 or 6.
Really poor, dont blame Bowyer the starting 11 purely on pedigree and ability are good enough. Mentally too many of them daydream, havent got the right level of commitment and shamefully I thought 2 of the midfielders were actively hiding
Completely understand Lee Bowyer digging the players out and its obvious who he was talking about. He has high but completely achievable standards and watching players hide from the ball, pull out of 50/50s and look to take the easy way out is not on
Accrington were good for the win, we made them think they could have had 4 or 5 and they should have
I get your point, however do you think his comments are going to get a positive reaction? I’d say it’s unlikely as things may have gone too far to repair.players are just going to down tools if they are pissed off with the manager.remember mourhino at Chelsea a while back, the players properly stabbed Jose in the back, although he probably deserved it.lol.
That could well be the case - but for all we know he may have tried the softly softly approach , had a word with Maddison behind closed doors etc etc and this was the last resort. After all he praised him a few weeks ago for working hard for the team .....
i know that Lee’s comments are going to polarise opinion and you may well be right , but we don’t really know the whole story.
But then didn’t play him in the next game. Bowyer has made some odd decisions lately,I’m not convinced the soft approach is in bowyers makeup. Obviously I don’t know for sure.
The point is Raplh that if someone makes a comment on here it is their opinion, its neither right nor wrong, its just their opinion. There are quite a few people on here who rip into to people because they don't agree with them, trying to almost troll them into shutting up. Don't become one of them Raplh .
I am not one of them. Hence by I don’t react to name calling. It’s never my intention to insult any individual. As for the depression comment. I know my own state of mind.
My general well being would be far better if we winning games, and heading for the top of the table rather than the middle. Waiting for the next game hoping it’s going to suddenly change, only to see the same dross, is demoralising. Following tonight, I have given this season up now. Our demise would seem irreversible, if it’s only going to turn on Inniss and Famewo returning, then it’s all going to be over. They may well have to come back to stop us going down.

If the softly, softly approach in private didn’t work, what for the love of all that is holy would make Bowyer think that a public ridicule would?

Fair point, and the knew the player they were getting, clubs always mention the amount of research they do prior to getting a player in to make sure he will fit in.
Take no notice 1968, most of the posters on here believe that only they have a divine right to an opinion, write what you want and take pleasure in the fact that you are annoying the soppy little pratts.
Says the man, who the resorts to calling people childish names......
unfortunately the fallout from the demise of our team under LB are some of the worst divisions ever seen in our fan base. An petty name calling and arguments. We are living in a depressing troubled time (not LB,s fault) but our team imploding in front of our eyes every week, is adding to this agony, and I’m sure to the depression of some of our fans.

So when you used the Trump analogy you didn't use it to belittle someone? Then when I tug you and the other other self righteous twats on here you decide you climb up on the moral high ground and start linking Co vid and depression to the fact someone disagrees with you. Jog on you nob !
Who is that aimed at? Maddison who he wanted in the championship? Gunter who he wanted in the championship? Smyth who he wanted in the championship? Bogle, who it could be fair, who didn't play?
Washington or Gilbey that already had contracts at clubs?

Sorry you really are not making sense. Those players were bought in during the last transfer window when we didn't really know if we would still have a club, so it was very last minute. This window we have money but are hampered by the cap.
I agree with this but Bowyer called him out as well in his interview! He clearly doesn’t rate him like he does Pratley and Watson. It must be horrible for the individual to play under those circumstances especially someone like Deji who, despite his limitations, never gives less than 100%...
You must have seen a different interview. No mention of Deji criticism in Richard Cawley's piece.
And having watched the game, I can't find any argument with it.
From Richard Cawley, London Online:
Lee
Bowyer tears into his Charlton Athletic side and calls display against
Accrington Stanley “unacceptable”
Lee Bowyer blasted the performance of his Charlton team after tonight’s 2-0 loss to Accrington Stanley. The Addicks manager has been critical of his side’s performances on more than one occasion this season. And successive reverses – Colby Bishop striking in either half – have dropped the SE7 outfit out of the League One top six.Bowyer
said: “They deserved to win – from start to finish they looked
hungrier, they had more fight. I just said to the players that it’s
probably the calmest I’ve ever been after a defeat ever. And it’s
because I can’t defend what’s just happened.
“It’s not like my
team. My team, you fight for everything. And then at least if you come
off you say: ‘I’ve given everything’. There were too many last week, too
many this week who think they can just turn up and be given three
points. We got outfought and outbattled. We were too soft.
“First
goal – it’s laughable. It’s like going to watch Sunday league football,
that goal. What, the goalkeeper catches the ball and just punts it up
there? You have a mix up. Come on, you’re meant to be professional
footballers. That can’t be happening.“You’ve got to take pride – two experienced players. Your captain and your goalkeeper. That’s a poor goal.
“At
times we moved the ball well and we had to move it well because we
don’t have that physicality until we bring Chuks [Aneke] on.“We
had to be brave and try and play out at times, maybe overplay at times
but when we did do it then we looked dangerous. But again, in front of
goal, they threw their body on the line, blocked shots and their keeper
made some good saves.
“It’s
just not good enough. Not acceptable. And to play for this football
club, you think it’s acceptable to jump out of tackles? Literally jump
out of the way. Again. That’s two players now. To play for this football
club you should be proud and fight for this shirt. There are too many
that turn up, think it is okay ‘I’ve got another one Tuesday’ – because
we have got injuries and we’re short in midfield.
“Maybe
people think ‘I have to play because there is no-one else’. So they
think they can take it easy, I don’t know. I don’t know – I can’t put my
finger on it.“But what I’ve witnessed just there is not what I expect from any of my team. Disappointed….I’m being very, very polite there.
“Sometimes
it’s not about what I do. I said to the players: ‘You have to look at
yourselves at times’. Do you accept what you’ve just done on the pitch?
Do you accept it, as a professional footballer? Some of them, it’s their
career. Some of them are coming up in the last year of their contract.
Some of them are playing for contracts, whether it is with this club or a
different club. They are on Sky tele – these are the days, if anything,
you express – not go the other way.
“When
I say you’ve got to be brave – fight and compete – that also means to
be brave getting on the ball. Not just hiding. Get on the ball and make
something happen for your team. Not just the physical side.“What
will I do? I will speak to them as individuals. But as a starting 11
there isn’t really much you can do. The midfield is the midfield. That’s
the three midfielders who are fit and eligible to play today. And
Tuesday – it will be no different.
“Jonny
Williams came on. Was he any better than any others? No. You’re
bringing midfielders on and thinking ‘ come on, now give us that bit in
the last 20, 30 minutes’. Chuks did. Chuks made a difference. The other
two didn’t. If anything it made us weaker. And I have to take the blame
for that. I brought on subs to try and make us better and it made us
weaker. But that’s players who have to look at themselves as well. Have I
given enough? Could I have given more? If any of them walk off that
pitch and say:
“I gave everything’ then they are liars.“I
can do so much but sometimes it comes from within. If you accept that
is good enough then you’re in the wrong game. And you’re definitely at
the wrong club – because you have to fight at this club.”

The wage cap hasn't fucked us, how we spent it fucked us. How many Accrington players wages do you think Gunter's and Watson's cover?
The same is true for Burton, MK Don's, Shrewsbury etc etc. I'll give you a clue, it's about 5 or 6.
Sorry you really are not making sense. Those players were bought in during the last transfer window when we didn't really know if we would still have a club, so it was very last minute. This window we have money but are hampered by the cap.
Gunter and Watson were bought in after Thomas bought the club. So we did know we still had a club. They are on over 10k a week between them.
That's why we are hampered by the cap. Accrington, Burton, MK dons could probably have 4 or 5 players on that between them.
Yes but it was very last minute.
This window we are hampered. Who are you blaming as I'm confused
We are at the cap because we are paying top dollar for players, when other teams aren't.
Bowyer can't big up Gunter and Watson as "transfer coups" then blame the fact they actually cost money as a reason he can't replace them 3 or 4 months later.
Both of those deals weren't last minute. They were on the table last January, if not before

Players he has both publicly called out, and dropped after good performances.
Washington or Gilbey that already had contracts at clubs?
It can't be Maatsen or Millar.
So who?

And having watched the game, I can't find any argument with it.
From Richard Cawley, London Online:
Lee Bowyer tears into his Charlton Athletic side and calls display against Accrington Stanley “unacceptable”
Lee Bowyer blasted the performance of his Charlton team after tonight’s 2-0 loss to Accrington Stanley. The Addicks manager has been critical of his side’s performances on more than one occasion this season. And successive reverses – Colby Bishop striking in either half – have dropped the SE7 outfit out of the League One top six.Bowyer said: “They deserved to win – from start to finish they looked hungrier, they had more fight. I just said to the players that it’s probably the calmest I’ve ever been after a defeat ever. And it’s because I can’t defend what’s just happened.
“It’s not like my team. My team, you fight for everything. And then at least if you come off you say: ‘I’ve given everything’. There were too many last week, too many this week who think they can just turn up and be given three points. We got outfought and outbattled. We were too soft.
“First goal – it’s laughable. It’s like going to watch Sunday league football, that goal. What, the goalkeeper catches the ball and just punts it up there? You have a mix up. Come on, you’re meant to be professional footballers. That can’t be happening.“You’ve got to take pride – two experienced players. Your captain and your goalkeeper. That’s a poor goal.
“At times we moved the ball well and we had to move it well because we don’t have that physicality until we bring Chuks [Aneke] on.“We had to be brave and try and play out at times, maybe overplay at times but when we did do it then we looked dangerous. But again, in front of goal, they threw their body on the line, blocked shots and their keeper made some good saves.
“It’s just not good enough. Not acceptable. And to play for this football club, you think it’s acceptable to jump out of tackles? Literally jump out of the way. Again. That’s two players now. To play for this football club you should be proud and fight for this shirt. There are too many that turn up, think it is okay ‘I’ve got another one Tuesday’ – because we have got injuries and we’re short in midfield.
“Maybe people think ‘I have to play because there is no-one else’. So they think they can take it easy, I don’t know. I don’t know – I can’t put my finger on it.“But what I’ve witnessed just there is not what I expect from any of my team. Disappointed….I’m being very, very polite there.
“Sometimes it’s not about what I do. I said to the players: ‘You have to look at yourselves at times’. Do you accept what you’ve just done on the pitch? Do you accept it, as a professional footballer? Some of them, it’s their career. Some of them are coming up in the last year of their contract. Some of them are playing for contracts, whether it is with this club or a different club. They are on Sky tele – these are the days, if anything, you express – not go the other way.
“When I say you’ve got to be brave – fight and compete – that also means to be brave getting on the ball. Not just hiding. Get on the ball and make something happen for your team. Not just the physical side.“What will I do? I will speak to them as individuals. But as a starting 11 there isn’t really much you can do. The midfield is the midfield. That’s the three midfielders who are fit and eligible to play today. And Tuesday – it will be no different.
“Jonny Williams came on. Was he any better than any others? No. You’re bringing midfielders on and thinking ‘ come on, now give us that bit in the last 20, 30 minutes’. Chuks did. Chuks made a difference. The other two didn’t. If anything it made us weaker. And I have to take the blame for that. I brought on subs to try and make us better and it made us weaker. But that’s players who have to look at themselves as well. Have I given enough? Could I have given more? If any of them walk off that pitch and say:
“I gave everything’ then they are liars.“I can do so much but sometimes it comes from within. If you accept that is good enough then you’re in the wrong game. And you’re definitely at the wrong club – because you have to fight at this club.”

Love the big man but it does feel like Bowyer's lost the players.
