Like the in the know thread if Bows stays on and we get promoted I’d move to name and shame they Bowyer out brigade
So if we don't and continue to defend like dogshit and he gets sacked, we should name and shame those who wanted to keep him in?

I don't think anyone who is suggesting Bowyer out particularly wants to be in that situation, or one of the ridiculous claims that we want to be doing badly to get rid of him. He's a hero for the last few years, but we're on a bad run, and he's reacted to that himself pretty poorly and all the whispers suggest he's losing the dressing room for it. Unfortunately with a change in ownership, management changes are always pretty inevitable at some point to get their own men in, and this seems to be going that way.

If the comeback tonight ignites a change in his philosophy to go a bit more attacking and on the front foot etc, everyone would be delighted. I'm not going to get too excited about a draw with Rochdale at home in isolation though, but we will see.
I dunno.. I've been labelled a Bowyer Apologist a good few times now so its maybe only fair that the label gets dished back :)

The "In The Know" thread isn't about naming and shaming people, just a light-hearted way of showing which posters have sources that tend to pan out, that people can refer to at times when there's a flurry of rumours about transfers etc. Would you be arguing for a "deluded rose-tinted glasses" brigade list if we plummet down the table and Bowyer gets sacked? People have different levels of patience or expectation, and while you can try to persuade people why you think changes need to be made or more time is needed, digging out individuals isn't going to get us anywhere.
Fair... I don’t want to dig out people as that just makes things more toxic.

It’s just frustrating when a normal bloke like Boywer admits a mistake (Smyth at RB) and the rest of us can’t admit our own mistakes.

His tactics haven’t been great, it annoys me too. Christ though a lot of those decisions have been thrust upon him. Matthews has been pretty bad since coming back with the same people digging him out... now it’s so clear he should have started?!

So much for Bowyer's loyalty to the club.

    Football fans are so fickle.
And in 2 years time we are still in league 1 are we supposed to still say well Bowyer was loyal to us.

    How long does it last?
We need to get out of this division ASAP the wage cap is bad enough when we was one of the championship teams coming down, but when we have players out of contract and need to replace them under which cap restrictions, us you have 3 sides coming down from championship with better players already having an advantage, its gonna make it tougher to get out this league.

We need to get out now before we get stuck here and if Bowyer cant dont that we need to try someone else
This is our 3rd spell in recent times in the 3rd division. On the 2 previous occasions it took us 3 seasons to get out. We started this season in a total mess, and we now alsi have the salary cap to deal with.

It needs time and patience, there are still big clubs in this league who have been here a while and still don't look that great to get out of it this season (Sunderland,Ipswich Pompey) and a host of other clubs who have been stuck in it not so long ago (Leeds, Both Sheffield club's, Southampton).

It's nice to say we need to get out of the league ASAP but teams who normally go up do so with a proper pre season both in terms of having players at the start of it and getting players in long before the season starts.
    Well said that man.

Problem is league 1 is going to be cut more adrift from the championship with the wage cap as I said, we lose players and have to replace them with a wage cap in place, clubs are coming down from the championship with decent players already in place, over the next few years you will see more teams get relegated from the championship then bounce straight back up because they have an advantage in league 1 now

He deserves an opportunity to take us up. The moment that looks unlikely is the moment he should go, whenever it is.
It doesn't look likely at present.
The league is toilet. Standard is far worse than when we got promoted in my opinion.

We've played more games but its a tight league. We have won twice in 11 games and are only just outside the playoffs.

    Far from unlikely yet.
We may be just outside the playoffs BUT have played many more games than just about all the teams around us so it's a bit misleading

Accrington have 4 games in hand; Doncaster 3; Posh, Pompey, Ipswich and Sunderland 2; Hull, Fleetwood and Oxford 1

On a PPG basis we've slipped badly since November

Indeed it will, probably why we voted against the cap.  However we started this season off at a huge disadvantage as a result of our own issues, hopefully things as a club will settle down and a decent pre season and summer window will sort us out.  Wasn't it changing the manager all the time one of the main reasons we fought so long and hard to get shot of Roland?

OK and if he stays on and we don't I'd move to name and shame the Bows can't do wrong brigade.
  • Still shocked that smyth started as wing back. Second half was a lot better

bowyer is on very thin ice at the moment but the second half showing would keep him in a job until Saturday if I was owner

Really winds me up when Bowyer bangs on about how hard the cap is. He's the one who signed Watson and Gunter on inflated wages, could have 5 players for their wages
Not saying that's not true but how do you know what Watson and Gunter are on?
  • Redrobo said:
We saw tonight that the players are behind Bowyer 100%. They could have folded after conceding four goals in the first half, but came out and won the second half convincingly. A fantastic effort and if had not be for Kettle, who has clearly never played the game, I think we would have won.
Now the players have regrown a pair I can see us performing better. Maybe not winning, but I will be looking for the performance. The team that played that half should be the team that starts Saturday - although the defence will need a change. I think we stand a good chance of getting into the playoffs still.

    that's a quick u turn on williams  :)
  • Get in a defensive coach at the very least. We are a shambles.
It’s interesting we’re all blaming Bowyer but Jackson has a role to play and getting more senior or additional coaches in, though costly could be a good move.
