Has Bowyer lost it?

  • First half hour mess purely at Bowyers door with his ridiculous three at back with smith on right.
But hopefully he’s seen the light second half. Four Four Two (4 4 2) and attack. Chucks can play 90 minutes.
  • Bowyer almost lost us that game.
    Nobody can argue with that.
Smyth RB? what was he thinking
    Agreed on that decision

Second Half showed at times how much we're missing Pratley or Watson in Midfield - But putting Smyth @ RWB is the sort of decision that just makes life so much harder for yourself
  • There will be moans and groans and overreactions, we are in a rut nothing more, nothing less!

Played some fantastic football at times and should have won!

Biggest positive for me was Pearce getting sent off! He is one of the catalysts in our downfall in my opinion (I don’t care if we haven’t got cover), as harsh as it is. He is not good enough! Everyone questioning Oshilaja recently, he worked his socks off tonight and for me along with JFC and Millar can really hold their heads up high!

Chuks also playing the whole game was a big positive.

I am still confident we will turn this around! No panicking for me just yet, just frustrating!
  • I was hopeful LB would see some sense after Friday but he’s on some weird shit mission in selecting players not at all suited to the positions. He’s cost us promotion now. Of that I’m convinced.
  • Get in a defensive coach at the very least. We are a shambles.

Has Bowyer lost it? Yes he has, simple as that. He needs to go.

Why because we pulled it back in the 2nd half the draw against a team in the relegation zone.

Dont get me wrong it was a fantastic comeback but we should never have been in the position to need a comeback, and we still only managed a point.

Just papered over the cracks for me, we all know come Saturday, someone will be playing out of position again and it likely will cost us a goal

Because he is due loyalty and has proved his worth over recent years even though there seems to be collective amnesia and uber entitlement now that we have had a takeover.

Football fans are so fickle these days.  This bloke got us to Wembley and gave us one of the best days of our lives not 2 years ago against all odds.

He's stood by us after a multitude of off the field shenanigans when he could have walked, gone elsewhere or just gone fishing.  Against all odds.

He very nearly kept us up with an injury ravaged squad of biblical proportions down to the last game last term against all odds.

He cobbled together a squad after an exodus, uncertainty as to whether we were even a going concern, embargoes and no real pre season against all odds.

We were flying and probably would be had we not lost Iniss and Famewo like we have despite the wage cap etc.

I get the criticism of squad selection and out of position players and I have also been critical of it but not to the point of calling for him to go.

Players deserve to be called out for bottling it and I don't buy this namby pamby attitude of treating them like precious little flowers.  They all put their bodies on the line for him tonight which disapproves that they aren't/ won't play for him....well even if not play for the fucking club and fans paying your wages ffs.

He stood by us during one of our grimmest patches in our recent history and yet fans can't do the same after a month of poor results- it is stomach churningly grim.

To see grown men sucking up to our chairman who albeit likeable and doing well so far has only been here 5 minutes and calling on Twitter for a Charlton man like Bowyer to get the sack is skin crawling.

Really do think I am a different breed from many of our fans sometimes.  So entitled, negative at whiney many of them. It's all 100% knee jerk and deluded with our fanbase sometimes.  Expectations do not seem to factor in realities.

Expecting us to be Barcelona and don't have the intellect or perception to see the bigger picture.  Fucking pathetic and like whingey kids some of our lot out there.

Bowyer should get backing from TS and the fans for a proper summer window, pre season and then see where we are by Christmas/ end of next season.

    Bowyer In.
I quiet like you view, and you are correct that football fans are fickle - but that's not a new phenomenon. Secondly the issue for me, and many fans is that the poor performances have gone on far longer than the last 10 games - so it's not a fickle reaction.

I do feel it is a bit unfair to refer to people as entitled and unintelligent for having a different view to you. Especially when many people are making very valid points about constant formation changes, playing players out of positon, and shocking post match press conferences.

Once again in the 2nd half we saw glimpses of what a Charlton team can look like under Bowyer. But these performances can't be 45 minutes every 7-10 games or so.

Read twitter...not saying people are unintelligent for having a different opinion or even thinking it's time for him to go....just that many clearly unintelligent people on twitter etc calling for his head.

And twitter is abundant with thickos many of whom seemingly follow our club as is expected in an extrapolation of the general population.

There is so much negativity everywhere and so much unrealistic and entitled expectation.
  • So much for Bowyer's loyalty to the club.

    Football fans are so fickle.
And in 2 years time we are still in league 1 are we supposed to still say well Bowyer was loyal to us.

    How long does it last?
We need to get out of this division ASAP the wage cap is bad enough when we was one of the championship teams coming down, but when we have players out of contract and need to replace them under which cap restrictions, us you have 3 sides coming down from championship with better players already having an advantage, its gonna make it tougher to get out this league.

We need to get out now before we get stuck here and if Bowyer cant dont that we need to try someone else
Why will we still be in this division for two more seasons?
  • I expect a manager to know how to set the defence up in L1 - I don't think it's acceptable to start shipping so many goals.
  • None of us are privy to the discussions between Bowyer and Sandgaard. It is all speculation.
I wonder whether TS has said to Bowyer that he has a bit of a free hit, a license to give thjngs a go to see who and what works well. Give all players  a go (Gilbey for example?) and then settle on your team and formation for a real go second half of the season.

If I recall correctly he wants promotion to the Championship this season or next. Bowyer knows he will be given time hence the odd selections and formations.

We're Charlton fans, not Bowyer fans. If a manager holds back our club, my loyalties lie with the club.
Yeah, that's right.  Sack him now and bring in another manager.  He has a bad 15 games and get rid of him.
    Clueless.
How many bad games before you worry?
  • Bowyer talking very well here. Has the same calmness of Curbs.

Exactly this, I love Bowyer but if he isnt getting the results and performances then I am afraid IMO he has to go as my only concern is Charlton Athletic not Lee Bowyer and whether he should us loyalty by staying or not

That’s why we will still be in this league if we stick with him.

Having a different opinion to you doesn't make me clueless. Part and parcel of posting on a football forum.

Anyway, I'd say his bad run extends into last season. Injuries or not, his tactics after Christmas were shit and effectively got us relegated.
