Yep, cash out for me too. £275k is sufficiently life changing in itself. My heart couldn’t take the stress of seeing it all disappear. I wish the guy every bit of luck for tomorrow if he holds his nerve.
Piss take offer on the cash out given the SP is likely to be shorter than 1/2. Fair offer would be in the 300-330k range. But perhaps one of those times where you have to take it and let the bookies off the hook for the 50k+ of additional value.
Envoi Allen should, of course, win. But the 4/9 takes no account of the horse's sudden change of scenery since it was removed by Cheveley two weeks ago so would be a bit nervous to let all of it run for that reason alone.
It all depends how much you might need the money although you can bet your bottom dollar, the minute your other half finds out that you can press a button and £275k will suddenly materialise, that decision will well and truly be taken away from you!
Why not lay off a portion on the exchange? Currently trading at 1.52, so laying it for 100k would mean he'd either win 95k after commission if it loses, or just over 459k if he wins. Obviously could tweak those values to what he was comfortable with. Will be enough liquidity in the market as well, given 820k has already been traded on EA for tomorrow - just the small matter of having a spare 50 grand lying about as liability, or having a few mates who can help!
Just a thought but let's say EA is pulled out before the race. If he hasn't cashed out he will get £93K. But, presumably, if he has cashed out he gets to keep the £275K?
I know that it's very unlikely to happen but no one was expecting Politologue to be a non runner either!
No brainier for me in my situation. I’d cash out. what he’s gotta ask himself is would he have still put the fiver on if Bob Olinger was 20/1, hello youmzain 8/1 and golden horde 10/1. if the answer is yes, then he should cash out as that is roughly the cash out offer those odds reflect.
In 2001, the Festival was cancelled due to Foot and Mouth disease restrictions. That year aside, every Festival since 2000 has realised a horse fatality. What an appalling record.
‘The Cheltenham Festival continues its reputation as a lethal and warped spectacle where horses’ lives come a poor second to money-making and gambling. For all the hype about race horse welfare, we see these poor horses being made to compete in this atrociously gruelling race over a long distance with too many obstacles. The sight of poor Kings Temptation falling to the ground will sicken viewers. Every year horses are killed at this so-called Festival. But it continues because making money is clearly more important than the lives of individual animals.’
I hadn’t realised until visiting Fergal O’Brien’s stables in Cheltenham just how loved and pampered these animals are. They love to run and they love to jump. The casualties are very sad, and the staff at the stables go in to meltdown when it happens. However, they are bred to race and jump like huskies are bred to pull sleds. You either carry on, or you stop and then do away with all the horses. I wonder what they would say if they had a choice?
The reputation continues. Different year. Same outcome. Kings Temptation RIP. Raced to death.
I had a very large horse steak in Iceland when I visited, Perhaps this is why you want horse racing to stop? more steaks? they were very delicious so I can see your point.

Yesterday I saw a jockey fall off their horse, the horse continued with the other horses but when it reached a fence it didn’t love jumping that much, because the ridden horses jumped over the fence, but the riderless horse went round the side.

And for every time you see that, you’ll see several others jump every fence riderless.

Absolutely true.
I was responding to the suggestion that the horses love jumping, and suggesting that isn’t always the case. To declare with any authority that the horses love something does not always fit with what we see. It is as strange as declaring that a fish with a great big sharp metal hook piercing their mouth doesn’t feel it. I have never understood that assertion.
What a strange position to be in. Wouldnt know whether to cheer envoi on for the extra 70k but also know I could have had 500k. Obvs now it's done you would want the 322k but my head would be all over the place.
There's one in the first that I am struggling to get away from. Today could be the day that Asterion Forlonge fulfils his true potential. I would like to think that Mullins wouldn't send it to Cheltenham knowing its issues without thinking that it would run a meaningful race.
Taken the 25/1 (EW) and have it in a F/C to come 2nd to Envoi Allen as well as in the W/Fav market.

I think he's gonna let it run.
