Few comments on the Match Thread asking if Washington's goal was offside
Just watched it back and notice there was no reaction from either the Goalkeeper or the Defender who almost caught Washington to appeal after we scored
JJ’s not been told anything about the weekend and has only had, in his word, a quick chat with Sandgaard before this evening’s game. He says, he asked permission to take the team for this evening’s game. Surely, someone should have been in contact with him as a priority, and if not Sandgaard, then Roddy.
A very scratchy performance but a win is a win and we are somehow back in the Play Offs even after the dreadful run from December to February.
Lets be honest folks, this league is absolute gash, there is no point denying the fact that we ourselves are about half as good as the 18/19 promotion team.
That side had some real class in Philips, Djiksteel, Bauer, Sarr, Aribo, Bielek, Cullen, Taylor, Grant and Williams - all now playing at a higher level than us.
I mean, every time I see them on TV Ipswich are getting pumped at home and yet they - just like us - are around the Play Offs too! Absolutely weird.
Still, as shite as we are, the chance is still there to make the Play Offs again and we have to grab it as best we can.
Forget the games in hand other teams have, it’s all about points on the board and we can still realistically get to 72-74 points which should get us sixth spot.

Thought it was as well at the time but it's the defender that heads it not Chuks

That comeback would not have happened if LB has been in charge...we woulda sat back then waited for the break that probably wouldn’t have come, but keeping the pressure on them did the job, well done the Boys & JJ

It's a header back from the defender so no offside.

It came off their defender didn't it?
Absolutely, clear as day came off the Defender last.
Just says it all even more when the opposition dont even bother to try and appeal the goal as offside
Great fightback, after a dismal and familiar start. Wouldn't have written Jacko off as a terrible manager if we'd lost, and one win doesn't make him a great manager. Sandgaard will make his decision based on what he knows about Jacko already, and if Jacko's able to impress him in an interview. I doubt that tonight's performance has any bearing on his chances of landing the job.
Separately from that, I've thought we'd been significantly underperforming for the last few months, but I'm now starting to think we're just a fairly average side that is missing the key components needed to be the real deal. Nobody's fault based on the circumstances in which this squad was assembled, but perhaps we are where we should be in the table. Can't see us getting too many results against the promotion challenging sides with this squad, regardless of who's in the dugout.
About 10 minutes into that first half I already thought we looked so much better in possession - which is not a shock when you don't have Pratley in the middle of the park.
However defensively at first I thought we looked as lightweight as we had ever done this season, and it took Shinnie's goal for us to really start looking like a confident team.
Once we were on that front foot, Bristol Rovers never looked like having a sniff.
Overall thought everyone looked a yard quicker, and more alert, and it was a much better watch for it.
Happy with the result, especially after the opening 25 mins. JJ looked chuffed, Conor Washington run his socks off, JFC and Shinnie were excellent, overall a fantastic fightback after a very dodgy start. If TS has a manager lined up, he would be well advised to keep JJ on and ask Curbs to add some insight as well. Now onto the Wombles and hopefully another 3 points.........well done to JJ and the entire squad.
I know one swallow does not make a summer, but what a difference. I'd love to see Jackson here as manager at Charlton, but I expect TS has his own ideas What a legend JJ is for us.

He’s no Iain Dowie.
Much more belief and confidence after that. Different team. Only one winner.
First enjoyable game since Ipswich.
Well done Jacko.

What a very, very strange season.
Thanks to all for the updates on the match thread too.

Been a while.
Good stuff.

I'd be happy with Jacko manager and AC as advisor at least til the end of the season. If it works keep it, if not install something else.
However, reading & listening to the various media snippets from TS since yesterday, I honestly think it sounds like he's already got someone lined up.
