I think Millar’s been key to our attacking play, but at the same time he does have a habit of seeing people (notably Purrington) run past him, stopping, turning back, and passing to Pearce.
Maybe he’s worried about losing the ball whilst Ben’s out of position but it does stall our attacks sometimes...
That said, I don’t think we’ve had much joy down our right so 🤷🏻♂️
And Maatsen is left footed......playing on the right.
Coaching badges.....aren't worth a fig.
Some of the best players in the world are left footers coming in off the right wing. Maatsen has a goal for us doing that exact thing. The ability of some of our fans to moan about any little thing at all remains the most entertaining part of match threads
This might be the reason they can do it though - they aren't League One wingers.
It’s relative though, no reason a League One winger can’t play on the “wrong” side and be effective against League 1 full backs.
Personally I think it depends just how one footed they are. You have to be at least able to go the other way occasionally. DJ can, Millar really struggles to. The only really one footed winger I can think of who played on the wrong side successfully was Robben, and he was a bit of a freak.
