Talk about football coming home And then one night in Rome We were strong, we had grown And now I see Rice ready for war Sterling good as before, Kane certain to score And Southgate screaming
How fit is Kyle Walker? I'm not talking boyish good looks. The fellas a machine and must be hitting numbers better than he has his whole career. Extraordinary!
If I believed in numerology then I would be beside myself with wonder!! Why? I was born in 55, I was 11 in 66, when we last won a major tournament. It is now 55 years since then and now I'm 66. We must be bringing it home.......surely!!!
Amazing tonight. And don’t want to bring it down but some of the anti English stuff on social media from the Scots and welsh is pathetic. Small man’s syndrome on overdrive.
We put in one of those performances tonight which I think could have beat every other country.
The real exciting thing is I genuinely think we can get better.
Personally I'm not getting carried away, we were good but let's not forget this was a Ukraine side that only finished with 3 points in their group and maybe got a little lucky against Sweden. Denmark will be a much tougher test but I'm very much encouraged by the professional and mentally strong way the team is approaching each of these games.
This team can beat anybody. A more attacking approach tonight , but it's not rocket science . We have the best attacking players in Europe . Play to your strengths.
I don’t wanna go OTT but this performance gives better vibes than anything I’ve seen over watching England since 1996. We’ve absolutely smashed them and now we get to play potentially two games at Wembley to win a major tournament. Southgate you fucking legend.
Exactly what I thought. The best I can remember since beating the Dutch in 96.
Brilliant for everyone that wanted the solid winning formula and presumably painful for all those that were happy to get knocked out as long as we played non stop attacking football and didn't care about clean sheets.
There's something quite motivating about the reaction of the Ukrainians after the match, it was like when a small team reaches the 5th round of the FA Cup and gets beaten comfortably by a big club. They see us as a real football power, and have no shame in losing like that, which shows how other countries see us.

No one was happy to get knocked out as long as we played non stop attacking football.

During the groups there were definitely people saying they’d rather see us lose so Southgate would be sacked.
The performance was machine like. A well oiled unit. Everyone knows their role and is given license to perform to the best of their ability together.
Really a “more than the sum of it’s parts” team which I can’t ever remember being the case with England before, not since I’ve been around and following football anyway…
And that’s before remembering the players are pretty decent anyway!
Beat Croatia 'It's just Croatia'. Beat Czech Republic in second gear 'You should be beating them!'. Beat Germany comfortably 'Germany aren't the force they were'. Beat Ukraine, 'It's just Ukraine don't get so happy'.
Sit down. A team we can all be proud of, we haven't even seen what these boys can do when they're up against it, we just always look in cruise control.

Apologies, but they were, maybe non stop attacking football isn't accurate, but certainly heavily criticising Southgate for playing so defensively and would rather be knocked out playing attacking football than win boring.
In fact I was in a small minority that backed Southgate from the start on the basis that our previous strategies have never worked in my lifetime, so why not try a different strategy?

I had a semi at 4-0. Then got a red card from the other half.
:-)

Focus all on Wednesday and go again.
Every player including subs were great 2nd half.
If they beat us I’d want them to win it .

Could tell they were just happy to be there.
We needed a point to qualify and we got it quite comfortably.
A professional job done.
We have the ability to do it, but I can see us finding it tough to break them down. And they will properly test us at the back in their current form.

Bring on the Danes
