    Ah fuck. Always fancied Italy if it got to penalties. Thought the 5 were a weird choice and said to my wife as they came on “I don’t like subs this late just to take a penalty. Puts added pressure on them and no time ti get into the flow.” Especially putting all that on a 19 year old. 

    So proud of the team though. They left it all out there could’ve won it (or lost it) in normal time. 

    They’ll finish the rebirth in Qatar.

    Management team needs to take a look at that line-up. 

    You give the all-important penalty to a 19 year old that has never played in a big game before? Sterling you leave out altogether?

    I agree they had the bottle. Words need to be said of the others. 

    Luke Shaw had such quality, how is Sancho with barely a touch stepping up.

    Very poor decision by GS to give pen kicks to the 3 youngsters , esp the 2 that had barely had time to acclimatise. 

    Hope he learns from this bitter experience.

    Anyway.....we didnt deserve to win. We spent 80% of the game in our final 3rd. Hardly mounted an attack from the 10th minute onwards

    I really don’t like people coming on cold to take penalties, after sitting on the bench for 2 hours

    We are all disappointed but would have taken that a month ago. 
    Beaten by the best team in the world in my opinion. Unplayable in the second half and probably more. 
    We have a young team  they will give us more to cheer in the next few years. 
    3-2 on penalties tough but we gave it a good go over the last month.

    Every one of the English subs did very poorly tonight. Not one I can think of that improved the play of the team. Not to mention the shootout performances.
