Woke up this morning feeling fine12

So great to have previews back, to have the season back. Well done @ForeverAddickted and very much looking forward to sharing the duties with you again this season.
In terms of today, so excited. The team picks itself but I am sure that won’t be the case next Saturday when more signings are bound to be made.
Said for a while, an early goal and the place will be bouncing.
Everyone has worked so hard to get ready for today, I’m confident it’ll go well.
Going to be a very strange day where excitement will be sky high, but also it’s so important to enjoy it no matter what. We must remember those who we have lost between 7th March 2020 and now. An emotional day is set to be in store.

Nothing new. I mentioned this a month ago when the players came back for pre-season training. SG, NA & TS have been consistent. Want to bring the age of the squad down & happy to use the Academy.Valiantphil said:"Pre-season has been a great opportunity for the young players from the Under-23s and Under-18s," he added.
“They've got a fantastic opportunity to make up the first-team squad.
So, there you have it - straight from Nads.
Our promotion challenge is going to be fought with youth players, not with great signings.

We give thanks for our valley, our home, the precious ground, which sustains us and gives us shelter from the Badlands of Bermondsey and Croydon

Sorry if this has been asked.
Is the game on charltonTV, sky, or both?

Proper deluge in SW11 with minor flooding.0

Still pouring in Charlton - stopped briefly.0

If they cover the pitch you'd think it would be fine, does anyone know if they do that?0

I’m sure they will have covered the pitch, but I’m guessing with this quantity of rain the problem is probably rising groundwater.charlton_hero said:If they cover the pitch you'd think it would be fine, does anyone know if they do that?0 -
Days like this, we could do with a ground called 'The Hill'. Hopefully it's not called off until 3.01, when I'm in the bar.1

Staying calm here, but I didn't say I wanted it to be any other way, but there could be 5 youth players in the 17 - playing 3 games a week.se9addick said:

Charlton have always offered to young players “a fantastic opportunity to mark up the first-team squad”, it’s one of the great things about this club and why being in the Charlton academy is a great place to be for any young player. I’m really proud of that heritage, and it surprises me than any Charlton fan would want it to be any other way.
Bowyer had a spell where he had no choice but to play a lot of youngsters in the same team, and those results are a matter of record.

Don't like the new timings. Who is going to be in their seat at 4.40?stoneroses19 said:
Looks good. Can’t wait to be back at The Valley!ForeverAddickted said:0 -
Partly cloudy with some nice sunny spells here, 18.5°C ...
... but then I am 100 miles away from The Valley.
No doubt it'll start raining when I take the dog for a quick walk, start pissing down heavier when I've picked up a very excited Grandson No 2 for his first game as a season ticket holder, turn the roads into an extension of the Broads on my journey down, and then when I park up at Charlton find out that The Valley has been taken over by Thames Water as its new resevoir.
Oh the joy and optimism of a new season!2 -

Sorry to the guys who already understand Washington's role in a Nigel Atkins set up:
If 4-3-3 today, Stockley is the Central striker, DJ and Conor will go wide when the ball is played down their Flank. So when Dj gets the ball out wide, Conor will/should support Stockley in the box. To describe Conor Washington as a Winger, whether on the Left or Right is a total misnomer.3 -
Just as well we’re not in a valley.se9addick said:

Very good assessment @soapboxsamsoapboxsam said:As each day has gone by since Clare signed, the harsh reality of still being in the 3rd tier is being shown by the shifting of optimism by many of our level headed CL members.
Whatever the result tomorrow, cafc will have a weaker 11, and weaker 18 to start this season than the team which played our last game against Hull at the Valley, despite the bar being set high by Thomas Sandgaard's comments.
The Caveat is TS is a good guy and came along to save Cafc from some of the most odious people that has ever been involved in our club over the last decade.
Up to now, all we have done is replace players that have left, are injured, or are considered senior. Unfortunately the guy who could score every 100 minutes, mainly from the bench has moved on and we are no nearer in replacing him.
On a Professional level Nigel Adkins is frustrated, despite his sunny disposition to life. All his comments about getting fitter and younger player for this season is still a work in progress.
We do have 3 more weeks to the window shutting but again players have to be fit and also to blend in straight away.
The home crowd may well be MOM in the return to the Valley but we are well short of a team or squad to challenge over a demanding 46 match season.0 -
another league 1 campaign and yet another match up against some tin pot side (a club called Wednesday?! do me a favour) who will no doubt have some part time dustman score a worldie. 0-1 to the minnows from Owlerton.1

Every time someone calls it a 'pub league' the gods ordain another injury-time equaliser against usKarim_myBagheri said:another league 1 campaign and yet another match up against some tin pot side (a club called Wednesday?! do me a favour) who will no doubt have some part time dustman score a worldie. 0-1 to the minnows from Owlerton.3 -

Was chatting to a Wendy fan last night. He's quietly (not over) confident of Wednesday getting promotion. Thinks they've put together a very good squad and sees them doing well. He's also a realist and not seeing them smashing the league as some fans of The Massive seem to think.
As things stand I'm going for us getting 6th spot on goal difference. That's hope rather than expectation! Much more investment in this squad to be a realistic challenger for top 4.1 -
Since I was young....0

Could the game realistically be called off or is this all just message board panic?0
