  • All the best to you all getting back to a game, obviously I hope it ends fruitless but after that best of luck for the season.
We're both back where we were about 10 years ago and possibly we're both even more shite.
Never mind I was never in it for the glory.
Was fun in the end. I'd take a repeat

As each day has gone by since Clare signed, the harsh reality of still being in the 3rd tier is being shown by the shifting of optimism by many of our level headed CL members.

Whatever the result tomorrow, cafc will have a weaker 11, and weaker 18 to start this season than the team which played our last game against Hull at the Valley, despite the bar being set high by Thomas Sandgaard's comments.

The Caveat is TS is a good guy and came along to save Cafc from some of the most odious people that has ever been involved in our club over the last decade.

Up to now, all we have done is replace players that have left, are injured, or are considered senior. Unfortunately the guy who could score every 100 minutes, mainly from the bench has moved on and we are no nearer in replacing him.

On a Professional level Nigel Adkins is frustrated, despite his sunny disposition to life. All his comments about getting fitter and younger player for this season is still a work in progress.

We do have 3 more weeks to the window shutting but again players have to be fit and also to blend in straight away.

The home crowd may well be MOM in the return to the Valley but we are well short of a team or squad to challenge over a demanding 46 match season.

Never in a million years did I think we'd start the season with a Right back covering the left back position. Its not as if the injury only happened yesterday - it's been 2 weeks since Purrington limped off after only 5 mins. If we can't see our way to actually bringing in a left back in those circumstances I worry about the rest of the season.

Heavy heavy rain over night that’s continuing now. Forecast is pure rain until 6pm, we couldn’t be in danger of this being called off could we ...?

It's supposed to stop raining around 1pm if Met Office is to be believed.

Gutted that the weather is going to ruin this. Can’t see how this goes ahead, unless the pitch is covered?
  • Lets hope the later KO gives the area to clear up as forecast is better from lunchtime onwards

might have to turn the sprinklers on at half time in that case
  • Hopefully the pitch drainage works okay. Weather forecast said light showers.

There’s 9&1/2 hours to kick off and the forecasts I’ve seen are for light rain showers which eases off at 16.00 🤷‍♂️. If you’ve had  persistent heavy rain all night then a pitch inspection is probably necessary lunchtime to save the away fans having to make the journey. Fingers crossed it goes ahead.

I've always found Met Office to be more reliable than the BBC

Let’s hope you’re right, would be devastating if the match was called off.

"Pre-season has been a great opportunity for the young players from the Under-23s and Under-18s," he added.

“They've got a fantastic opportunity to make up the first-team squad.

So, there you have it - straight from Nads.

Our promotion challenge is going to be fought with youth players, not with great signings.

What do you expect him to say?

It will absolutely suck, and feels like a typical thing that always befells us Charlton fans.

But then again if it gives a chance to get a another couple of bodies through the door before we start then I guess it's not all bad.

Calm yourself down, that isn’t what he says at all.

Charlton have always offered to young players “a fantastic opportunity to mark up the first-team squad”, it’s one of the great things about this club and why being in the Charlton academy is a great place to be for any young player. I’m really proud of that heritage, and it surprises me than any Charlton fan would want it to be any other way.

Enthusiasm for the new season and trust in NA just about outweighing disappointment at lack of signings. Hopefully the lucky socks can swing three points our way.

The Beeb used to get its weather info from the Met office….
On 6 February 2018, BBC Weather changed supplier from the government Met Office to MeteoGroup, after being required to put its weather services out to tender. Previously, the government Met Office had been the provider of weather information for 94 years.’
