I went to the pga golf at wentworth yesterday instead of going to the Valley. Had a great day and a right result as my phone died mid afternoon so was blissfully ignorant of the unfolding shiteness in SE7.
Lavelle looked slow motion and pony to me but that’s on one viewing and I thought the new keeper was pony after one watch and he’s our best player atm First viewing of Kirk , pony the Lino west side was so scared of making a decision it was embarrassing my 9 year old , who is up for it most out of my sons came home and told mummy he was scared of me cos I was losing the plot ,screaming, swearing and shouting . Charlton should come with a health warning fuck off son this is the worst footballing shit Charlton have served up for 90 years and that was when we were on our way up our local rivals are smashing Spurs up 3-0 in the top flight and drawing away at West Bromwich Albion in the secon tier and we’re getting torn a new one by a fucking racecourse town full of pissed cnuts in the third tier of complete wankness

Unhappy players mainly because of the money some new players have come in on. Also, no promotion bonus offered by TS despite negotiations. Doesn’t help.
If this isn’t a fact, with actual evidence of the statement, then it’s unnecessary and a wind up post. Why has there always got to be some conspiracy when we are playing bad. The next thing will be Adkins really isn’t a positive fella and nobody likes him. The players moaning about new players wages have no right because they were less than impressive last season. Get over it and prove they are worth more money and bonuses. however Charlton do like to be record breakers, the shortest amount of time to down tools into a season maybe? 🤣🙄
I don't think this lot need to worry about a promotion bonus tbf!!! But I assume everyone's wages will be reduced if we go down.
Side issue really, but I thought their keeper should've been booked.
The long winded approach from the ref, followed by an extra long verbal caution just added to our frustration and played somewhat into their hands. An early booking for time wasting sorts out all that old malarky.

Will never understand how they only get a caution for blatantly time wasting when you know they’re not going to get a second yellow if they carry on anyway
I know people keep on about the quality of players both new and old, but I personally believe there's enough ability in them to structure a decent side including some back up to swap it round a bit if needed. As long as NA is willing to "experiment" away from this existing format.

Add to that the fact he didn't play the full 6 minutes added time, which is strange, but even worse seeing that they were continued time wasting in the just-over-5-mintes he did play.
Not that we'd have score if we were still playing now though tbh.
Ref was poor but we deserve third division refs as we are in the third division. A lot of people at the club should be embarrassed by that fact and should be fighting to put it right.

He should have been booked, but to be fair to the ref he was lenient with his cards to everyone, there were plenty of other offences like shirt pulls which could have been bookings too
We look worse defensively without Dobson. People (oddly) seem to slate him but he currently needs to be in that CDM role. We are struggling without him closing down and hassling attacking players.
Dobson has been hit and miss and being honest mostly miss, but I think he has more to offer. I think the full backs are important with our set up and they are not doing their jobs at present. Gunter is playing out of position and you have to take that into account.
I look back at our last team to get out this division and granted I think we had much more quality than we do now, but we also had real characters and leaders down the spine of that team who you could really get behind as fans. Phillips was an academy product who wore his heart on his sleeve, Sarr granted could be a liability at times but at least you knew he cared, Solly had been here years and was a club legend, Bielik and Cullen you could see although they were loans had really taken the club to heart, Pratley surprised everyone with his quality and then of course you had Lyle up front who at the time we all loved.
When you add Bowyer into the mix as well who everyone at the club really seemed to be behind it was genuinely a great team to watch, but also even when we lost you could see players had put a real shift in and that it hurt them when we lost. I've posted this before about our current squad but there are ways to lose football matches, our style of play isn't enjoyable to watch at the moment but let's be real, if we were winning nobody would care. However when you have a dull style of football AND lose football matches it never bodes well.
I remember after the play off semi-final Bielik saying it was the best dressing room he'd ever been in, OK he was young and probably hadn't been in many dressing rooms however could you imagine any of our players saying that about this current squad?
There seems to be a distinct lack of personalities and leaders in this squad, even the experienced pro's like Matthews, Gunter and Watson don't really seem to be leaders as such. They are decent players but I wouldn't call them leaders. Who would you describe as a leader in this team? Inniss perhaps however he seems cursed by injuries, Arter from what I've seen at other clubs probably fits that mould as does Stockley but then other than that nobody springs to mind.
There are so many players in this current squad I have almost no feeling for, I don't dislike any of them however if you told me 5-6 of them were leaving tomorrow I really wouldn't be to bothered. I exclude any of the summer signings in that list as they haven't had enough time yet to show what they can do.
Someone else posted around JJ's current role as well and his change in mannerisms on the bench since NA took over and I agree absolutely, he is almost like a different person on the touchline. Under LB he was always giving out orders and almost playing the match just on the touchline however without fail everytime I have looked up to see what he's doing under NA he's been sat on the bench. It would be a crying shame if doesn't get the opportunity at some point to to manage this football club, I don't think anyone genuinely knows what his coaching ability is like and he is unproven as a manager but I think you could guarantee we would play with a little bit more passion and desire than we do at the moment.
It was without doubt an awful performance and what we are trying at the moment obviously isnt working. I really like Stockley but next game I would start with Washington down the middle with lee just behind, leko and CBT either side. Kirk doesnt deem on it at all and I dont think he has tried to take a defender on since the first 5 minutes of his debut. Dobson deserves to come back in as I really dont think he did much wrong in his previous performances. Hopefully Arter is far off starting as if we have to use Watson and Morgan much longer we can write this season off. Watson should be using his experience to assist from the sidelines and Morgan needs to go out on loan if there is anyone that will take him. Lavelle I thought did ok and just as well as Innis seems to have gone again. Surprised me yesterday that Pearce was on the bench and not Deji

I agree - I think there’s enough quality in the team/squad to be doing better than we are. This isn’t a vintage year, we aren’t going to storm the league with 101 points, but we are underperforming currently.
We look worse defensively without Dobson. People (oddly) seem to slate him but he currently needs to be in that CDM role. We are struggling without him closing down and hassling attacking players.
Morgan and Watson is not going to work.. ever
Isn’t that why we’ve signed Arter? Either way we need to find a CM setup that works. Everyone can see Morgan and Watson or Morgan, Clare and Dobson isn’t the answer.
Curbishley said you have to manage what you've got. Not dream about other players. Not imposing a system but using the strengths you have. I'm sorry but 1-2 at home to Cheltenham is appalling.
Cheltenham were decent in all areas. They’re used to winning, are all quite comfortable on the ball, and work for each other. Their history is irrelevant. But I still know what you mean.
However, I’d probably swap starting elevens if we could. Which is crazy on paper.
To think some people slagged Lee Bowyer off, this Adkins is a joke!
Bowyer would have blown a gasket after that first half.
The least he demanded was a work effort, that lot today with few exceptions were devoid of any spirit. I have to wonder about Kirk, I've not seen him pass anyone yet and as for tracking back or putting a tackle in forget it. As usual our midfield was toothless and gutless. I don't think Morgan and Watson can play in the same team.
Crewe supporters said this when we signed him, for all the praise for him offensively we shouldn't expect him to track back, he just doesn't do it. Do we actually watch the players that we hope to sign ? Ok stupid question but if Crewe supporters can see it why can't our scouts ?

Curbishley/Jackson anybody?
Curbishley has a stand named after him, we can't allow that history to be tainted. An advisory role absolutely. I'd go for joint managers in JJ and Euell. Which is what I felt we should have done last season. It was a free hit for them.
Wasn’t at the game yesterday thankfully, but have seen a few comments about Stockley’s role as a captain.
Whatever anyone says about his supposed limitations, he is the sort of player who will typically battle hard against any side.
For those saying he shouldn’t be our captain, can you name someone out of this mediocre, tame lot who would be more suitable?
I’ll wait.
Sadly there isn't a single leader on the pitch in a Charlton shirt. Stockley may battle (though he didn't yesterday), but he's not a leader in the true sense of the word.
Look at the personalities of our previous captains, then look at Stockley's. Miles apart.
I tend to post my thoughts a day after the game so that I give myself some time to think rationally about what what I saw. Cheltenham looked so comfortable with and without the ball, passed it around neatly and hardly reverted to hoof ball. We were the exact opposite. Cheltenham totally dominated that first half.
If it took a whole half to work out the tactics weren’t working then something is not right.
Second half we looked much better but only because Cheltenham were happy to sit back, soak up the attacks and hit us on the break.
If this carries on it doesn’t matter which players come in to the side, the tactics and formation aren’t working and we will struggle to finish mid table.

NA either can’t explain what he wants, doesn’t know how it’s supposed to work or doesn’t have the players suitable
5 times he’s tried it and 5 times it’s failed miserably
He and we were let down yesterday by shameful shirking from Kirk and Jaiyesimi who must both be due for a long spell in the stiffs
That takes little away from NA’s tactical shambles
He talks of pressing
He talks of tempo, organisation, movement
There Was None
15 minutes of movement tempo and a changed shape at the start of the 2nd half and we ripped that shit Cheltenham team a new hole but they gathered their thoughts and with the aid of a compliant piss weak referee clung on to their gifted lead
without MacG it would have been a rogering
The shape and lineup at Wycombe have to be different
If it ain’t then fundamental changes will be needed before the Pompey game on 25th
