  • From a short corner, an unmarked Purrington heads in a Dobson cross
    Short corners do work then
  • This is how Dobson played against Crawley. Does it mean anything? I don't even know

    Pearce or Purrington?
    Definitely Purrington
The original tweet said Pearce, thank you.
  • HT 3-0
  • That Southampton U-21 team are not that good

Our purely defensive left back adds a goal to his assist
He's looked decent tonight and gotten forward, but both his goal and assist were from his role as a big lad at set-pieces

Must be the most prolific Full-Back we've ever had?

  • Out of sight here. Defence untroubled, Harness only had to make one save. Clare and Dobson effective in midfield.
But DJ constantly making the wrong decisions and Kirk offering no attacking threat. Kirk is a real puzzle. He does not have pace, cannot beat a defender going forward, missed the best chance of the game and does not cross the ball. What exactly is he supposed to be?
  • I believe I'm right in saying that half a dozen of tonight's outfield players were in the side for our first three League games. None of those started on Saturday with only Kirk starting in both our last two games. Hopefully this bodes well in terms of getting a squad of 20 or so all fit and desperate to get in the first team.

I was just wondering exactly the same thing!
  • Yes, it's not a "proper" match, but this sort of result and performance must be a confidence boost to the players, which should help them in the league matches
Its also great for their match fitness...

If this game wasnt scheduled then we'd have two weeks between games - Am sure there will be a behind closed doors friendly between this game and the one against Lincoln, but its not quite the same

    Yes, but they count 😉

  • Just for context...

    League Cup... 1-game | 0-goals
    EFL Trophy... 2-games | 9-goals
    League... 11-games | 12-goals

They definitely need a quality CB to shore up their defence.. let's hope DE has signed up for us!

I know they were only goal & assist highlights but the video posted when we signed him showed him being very attacking, taking on defenders & cooling slotting home from all angles.

    Must have signed his twin.

He’s supposed to be a threat who keeps getting into the right positions, one who is looking more dangerous with each game after needing a while to acclimatise to his new club. He’s interchanged really well with Purrington so far and looks like he needs to get back to believing in himself to show why Crewe rated him so highly.
  • Morgan could have had three or four assists tonight.

Kirk? It's Danish for church.

  • Partially it's a confidence thing, but there's a notable lack of end product from DJ when compared to CBT and Leko in the last few games
  • Damn. I'm watching on TV. I was at the Fulham U21 game that was the previous record holder. Gutted tbh
