  • What was DJ doing there.

Also last game and this game I’ve been very impressed with Harness.
  • Lovely quick break, Harness to Morgan to DJ who has a shot

Worth pointing out that Johnnie Jackson is in charge for this game.

Adkins is up in the stands next to Roddy.
Who selected  the team ? I never understood why managers don't sit in the stands. Curbs had Keith in the stand with a phone.
A couple of us discussed this same point on the pre-match thread.

Jaiyesimi should have laid that on for Kirk.
  • Jeez DJ... Why didnt you square it to Stockley?

    Matthews needs shooting.

Same mistake as last 3 games he's played, this time it costs us again and Harness saves his skin.
Showing why he's having to play in these games.
  • Another great break, Harness to Morgan to DJ

Harness to Morgan to DJ who wastes it again.

Come on DJ I've been a huge backer but you're doing yourself no favours.
  • Watching Harness makes you wonder why we signed Henderson

Our purely defensive left back adds a goal to his assist
Must be the most prolific Full-Back we've ever had?
No that was the guy who scored a hat trick
on his debut or Mark Reid.
I know. Mar Reid scored a few though.  Kinsey also but left wing before switching.  Hewie maybe ?
Impressive stats from all three... Just checked Wiki so might not be accurate but:

    Mark Reid (15) | Brian Kinsey (19) | John Hewie (37)
Mark Reid was our regular penalty taker.

Brian Kinsey scored most of his goals as a left winger.

John Hewie played every position for Charlton - including goalkeeper, although he didn't score many in goal.

Bob Curtis has to have scored most as a full back. He was, in my opinion, our best ever penalty taker and did play at CB as well but I do remember him once scoring from about 35 yards at home. Think it might have been against Southampton
  • Claydon on for DJ, who might have a slight strain

It's clear to me Clayden and Kirk should swap wings.

DJ's replacement runs the ball hilariously straight out of play. Charlton Life says nothing
  • The ref loses 0.5 from his score for not playing an advantage

DJ's game was frustrating, yes, but he didn't hide and he caused a lot of threat. Didn't quite happen for him. Ended up probably trying too hard. He needs to keep at it and he'll get another go soon enough.

    70' Dobson is cautioned for a foul on Watts. #cafc 3 #saintsfc 0
  • We are looking a bit sloppy this half. Wonder if it’s a lack of fitness again.

Not a player that's realistically challenging for the first team is it
  • Poor pass by Deji leads to a Soton breakaway and a Dobson breakaway

A touch of the 60 minutes tiredness

You're right Bob Curtis did score a few from Right Back. I can remember one spectacular effort from just inside his own half, must have been all of 70 yards - was it against Middlesbrough, October 1967 ..... ? He was only 17 at the time.

Theo Foley also regularly picked him as a midfielder for a while - it was about March 1971 and we had been really struggling at the foot of the table.
With Curtis being dynamic and full of running in midfield, it inspired the team to comfortably stave off relegation.
Scored a couple of piledrivers too.

And as you point out, he eventually became a mean penalty taker.
    Memories, eh?
