Altrincham are a National League side while Gateshead are National League North . They drew 2-2 on Saturday and the replay is at the National League’s ground next week.

Prob be a Sunday at Midday knowing the tv programming
  • Saturday evening in Manchester or Newcastle...
Saturday night at home if it’s Altrincham.
  • Defo a TV game . Away to Gateshead or Altringham
"big" L1 side away at a non league side, definite TV pick, so the replay will be keenly fought

    The replay is Tuesday week

So there are three ties where its Non-League v Football League

BBC and ITV showed six games in the First Round

Going to be proper Charlton luck if we dont get picked for coverage
  • Haha for a minute thought that ITV werent even going to show our game as one of the highlights of the draw
  • Well from the run through they did just then, it doesn't sound like they think we're one of the ties of the round...

Havant 12th in the NLS, Gateshead 12th in the NLN!

Altrincham are 10th in the NL so would be a tougher proposition most definitely. Still massively winnable.

  • Probably the one either or we wanted to avoid!

BBC and ITV showed four games in the First Round

Going to be proper Charlton luck if we dont get picked for coverage
Salford vs Chesterfield is locked in no doubt.
  • Altrincham and Gateshead fans both understandably delighted

Pougatch still decided to talk about Boreham Wood v St Albans, Kidderminster v Halifax and Salford (imagine the surprise) v Chesterfield instead!
  • Thankfully both teams appear to play on Grass pitches instead of anything artifical

Fine by me, would rather be on the beeb anyway
  • They have not mentioned us, as it’s just so bloody unusual for us to still be in the cup at this stage…….

Lovely stadium up in Gateshead - will be just like playing at West Ham.

It's away which makes it much tougher
  • It'll likely involve a hotel night.

As will Crewe away, provided we get through.

Yeah, and I still remember the commentator (might have been Jon Champion) exclaiming "It's Northwich Victorious" at the final whistle, would rather do with BBCs slightly less biased commentary
  • Our game still stands out

Buxton vs Morecambe is in some ways the tie of the round in terms of the gap, but Morecambe are L1 minnows, up for the first time. The Buxton players will be excited to play a L1 side, but not to play Morecambe, if that makes sense.

By contrast we are a "fallen giant" L1 side, former winners and ex PL. We even have the player who's goal beat Man City!
  • The road to Wembley is opening up nicely!

To be fair it's a good line!
