Can't see any good in this draw. Just have to win it. It would be more sensible if the earlier rounds were regionalised. Bigger attendances and less emissions!
Given the distance only the saturday and the 2 later sunday ones are that appealing.
Sunday 12.15 in that wide open Gateshead stadium, freezing cold with at least 50% of our support nursing hangovers from a night out in Newcastle would be soul destroying.
We don't know who we're playing until next Tuesday by which time trains etc are going to be a fortune (already are) especially on the back of 3 league away games.
It's probably going to be on TV meaning a dreadful KO time making it even more awkward travelling.
Hopefully BBC and ITV will leave it well alone but I'm 99% sure it'll be selected.
Agree though, the tie itself is a good one.
Yeah in fairness I meant more as the tie alone. Having just checked train tickets (and hotel prices in Manc!!!), it is shaping up to be a pretty expensive few weeks.
Come on Altrincham, you can do it!! Can walk to the ground.
Just for you I will cheer on Altrincham in the replay but would you mind running to the ground as Walking is frowned upon under JJ* and despite strolling, meandering and watching and Listening to the birds being brilliant and good for mindfulness, in a football contexts, running is the new walking at Cafc !

in all seriousness, i just hope we play a full strength side and we havea proper go at the cup this year - the signs are good based on Jacko's team against Havant but way from home will be a different matter and we need to go full strength - the club and fans need a cup run

Depends what you want to prioritise though. Surely it has to be the league and with the cup game following 3 games in a week v Plymouth, Morecambe and Shrewsbury, and then a game v Ipswich the following midweek i wouldn't expect us to be full strength at all.
We have a big enough squad to rotate some players against a non-league side and still win.

There's always some reason why we have to prioritise the league - trying to go up, trying to stay up or whatever - i genuinely do not understand why players cannot play 2 90 minute football matches a week - just don't train - it really is ridiculous - thats 180 minutes of football per week for a professional athlete
use the papa johns and even the carabao as the missing reserve matches but not the fa cup - the fans deserve better and will respond if they get it and no, i don't think we are good enough to rest our best players and get away with it at a northern outpost
Went out with a girl from Urmston decades ago. Went to Altrincham Ice Rink one night. Went to the bar and ordered a pint of lager please mate. Had the beer firmly slammed in front of me to be told by the barman ‘I’m not your mate’.

Friendly and welcoming oop north they say….
My daughter used to have ice skating lessons in Alty ice rink, she had to be there by 7am on a bloody Sunday. I've lost count how many times I sat in there, hungover and freezing cold.

I went out with a girl from Burnley and they used to (may still have) oversized pint glasses in the pubs up there with a pint marker about an inch down from the top of the glass - the locals got it filled up to the top, i didn't.

"Recall seeing them play City at the Etihad on the opening day about 15 years ago and they only brought about 800, don’t think they have a historically large away support."
I hope it Altrincham. Looks a proper old school tight little ground, with a decent surface. Would be a good atmosphere. Gateshead's ground looks horrible.

Unless you have a London accent, my sister married a Northerner and got slaughtered with her accent because they moved up to Warrington.

For the last home league game I arrived at London Bridge from Altrincham at 2.30. As it was a brilliant day and the birds were singing I decided to walk from London Bridge to North Greenwich along the Thames Path. Did it in 2.5 hours, 14.1 km at an average of 5.4 km/hr, where I met up with my daughter for a meal in Waggamumas.
Looking to go and see the Altrincham vs Gateshead replay next Tuesday, but tickets are not on sale yet. The Altrincham ground is pretty delapidated and they have some big fixtures coming up before Christmas. Possibly Charlton, but also Stockport and Wrexham. Various parts of the ground have failed Trafford's safety certificate, so for the next few games, including the replay there will be restricted numbers allowed in the ground while they do remedial work to get the ground safe.

Seem to fancy their chances based on them looking at the L1 table, they clearly dont know about the Jacko factor!
Strange thing to make up.
Honestly thought that Gateshead were still in the Conference and Altrincham were back in the North
Apologies to any of their fans spying on here
