  • Our game still stands out

Buxton vs Morecambe is in some ways the tie of the round in terms of the gap, but Morecambe are L1 minnows, up for the first time. The Buxton players will be excited to play a L1 side, but not to play Morecambe, if that makes sense.

By contrast we are a "fallen giant" L1 side, former winners and ex PL. We even have the player who's goal beat Man City!
BBC already have Buxton v Morecambe as their headline on the website.

Am pretty sure they did the same for Sudbury vs Colchester so that'll be their pick of the bunch.
  • Good news = Our will surely be on TV.
Bad news = This usually means a silly KO time

We're the second game mentioned in the BBC story

Already been to Gateshead, so wanting Altrincham.

Gateshead's stadium of being so open to the wind and rain with a racetrack around it, zero atmosphere just doesn't appeal to me.

And that we’ll most likely lose!
  • So who else did a disappointed oooh thinking we were being called with Leyton Orient away, and then a relieved oooh when you thought we were getting Rotherham away?
I thought when Wimbledon got pulled out at home I thought we was next.

Spookily J Davidson is not the only similarity between the clubs, Altrincham’s nickname is the Robins and their manager is Phil Parkinson (not our former manager though who’s at Wrexham) 😯.

  • More gutted the Crewe game will be probably be called off.

  • Jim Davidson gets bloody everywhere!!
Are you sure they're not thinking of Josh Davidson as sometimes called on here? ;)
  • Superb tie, just what the cup is about.

Would prefer Altrincham as that Gateshead stadium looks shite for football.

Jesus, Gateshead have a reasonably good sized ground so I’d imagine a fair few tickets would be on offer eg 1,500-2,500 if they make it

Not a knock against our support, but we would never sell that many.

Don't tell the H&W boss.......he'll expect us to fill the whole ground.

    When is it?
    Fri 3 Dec - Mon 6 Dec

    Replay if needed:
    14/15 Dec
  • Well based on the first round their live tv slots are:

    Friday 7.45pm
    Saturday 5.15pm
    Sunday 12.15, 3 and 5.15pm
    Monday 7.45pm

Given the distance only the saturday and the 2 later sunday ones are that appealing.

Sunday 12.15 in that wide open Gateshead stadium, freezing cold with at least 50% of our support nursing hangovers from a night out in Newcastle would be soul destroying.

TV games for the first round were picked on the Thursday following the draw so will probably be a couple of days before we find out if we are one of the “lucky” ones.

Any thoughts on playing Plymouth Argyle 3 times in a month? 2x in league and if they beat SheffWeds and we draw them
As usual, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 and they won’t be playing tennis. (You need to be of a certain age for that one)
  • Been to both of these with Dartford. Gateshead looked impressive but a lack of atmousphere  poir playing surface  and strong wind made it a dull day. Altrincham was very 'old school' non league. We won' t have a big share of tickets there and we'll need some character. Be nice if the FA would let us stream this one.
  • Jacko will be delighted. His view before the draw.....“A home tie would be what we’re looking for,” said Charlton caretaker manager Jackson. “At this stage I haven’t got a preference who we play. In an ideal scenario we don’t travel.

“We have got some travelling ones where we go to Morecambe and Shrewsbury [on successive weekends]. We want to avoid any unnecessary travel, if we can.”

    Evening game, please.
Then us followers in NZ don't have to get up a shit-o-clock to watch the game.
Ideally Friday 7.45pm = 8.15am Saturday, so Aotearoa Addicks can meet up for bacon, eggs and football...if we're out of lockdown.

Is there a No Sausages rule before 9 am rule?
