If Stockley is injured or banned we will need a striker for 90 minutes not a part-timer
Ideally but given Stockley is expected to start most games it makes it harder to bring in someone good enough who will be happy spending a lot of time on the bench.
I'd like to see us bring in someone different to Stockley and Washington. We have a pacey striker and a target man (plus whatever Davison is) but we don't have anyone with real quality. We're a bit workmanlike up front. Ideally we'd have someone more technical who could make things happen in those games where teams are sitting back.
  • Aneke back on loan? Apparently Bowyer, Gallen and Jacko were at the QPR game last night.
We asked for him before we got Leko .. but Aneke did not want to come back
We asked aneke to come back 5 games o to the season!!!!   I smell another made up story here
    DFTT
  • Gallen has QPR connections. He was probably able to snaffle a couple of comps.

I don’t think this ones too wide of the mark.

I'm weak and cave in. I'll try harder in 2022

We also asked Ben Amos to come back as the ink was drying on his Wigan contract.
  • Serious injury last season surely ticks a lot of boxes for us

  • Oh yes we need more wingers!
Especially not right footed left wingers . If people don't think Kirk fits our system then pulling in another similar player would be madness and the waste of a squad place .

But you’d be fine if they were left footed?

We are interested in an Aneke loan from what I’ve heard.  Think he’s pissed off with the lack of minutes.

id be surprised if we kept Arter unless we have to. If there is an option to return I’d expect us to take it
I heard similar. No idea if Chuks or Bowyer are keen though.

A Karlan Grant style player would be handy although that might be Burstow.

Arter going back and a few others out on loan or just left out of the squad to make room for the 2 or 3 incoming.

Fitness on Lavelle, Innis and JFC will be a big factor.
  • Charlton are interested in Kieran Sadlier

Probably. Especially if he can play left wing back.

We lack genuinely left footed players. This has made our dead ball scenarios predictable. This becomes more acute if Arter returns to Forest until JFC returns.

Well that cat got let out rather easily.

I had spoken to a few people about the Aneke interest and anticipated the club wanted it kept quiet as a number of other clubs (near the top of the league) have also kept tabs. We have the links, of course, and I hope it’s one we manage to pull off.
If it was to happen would you bring him in as our only striker this window, or would you be looking at someone else as well? And in a world where he could play more minutes would you want him as first choice?

I imagine he must have a decent relationship with JJ, so would feel *if* there was to be a loan we would be in the driving seat.

Love to see him back. Much better option off the bench than Davison.

However, we could get Harry Kane AND Mo Salah in & we still wouldnt make the play offs.

This season is a write off.  Adkins not being fired soon enough & very poor recruitment has meant a wasted season & yet another season in this god forsaken League for 22/23.

  • I’d take Aneke back on loan.  He’d make more of an impact than Arter, and imo, if we’re speaking frankly, Leko has hardly set the world alight despite what many probably considered a good (re)signing in the summer.

He has the potential to come good of course, but he does need to show more.  I know he has been injured as well, so of course that should be factored in

Apart from Kirk (who at the time most people thought was a great signing) and Arter who else did we sign in the summer that was very poor recruitment?

Stockley, Craig Mac, Famewo, Clare, Dobson, Lavelle and Lee have all been good. CBT has done ok. Souare average but hasn't really played much. Leko hasn't really got going but again most people were happy with him signing.

So that's 2 duds out of 12, which isn't bad going really and certainly not what i'd call 'very poor'. Even Man City sign players who don't perform as expected.
Our recruitment in the summer was both good to very good and a fucking disaster.

We signed some very good, some good, some alright and some ordinary players.

We started with 4 really hard games, if you look at the players we had available I don't think any formation or manager would have got more than 3 or 4 points out if that.   Then you bring in 4 or 5 players that aren't match fit, you have to change something, then you have to change it again because they aren't match fit and your playing Tuesday Saturday.  Rinse and repeat.  It's the same mess Bowyer got in last season.

We got it quite alright in the end but by the time we got it right it was too late and it was wrong for what we then needed.

I think, in hindsight, last January was the same as well.

I can’t believe Bolton are looking likely to get Dion Charles for £300k! Come on Washington get in her ear being a fellow NI lad!
  • I don't know why we didn't move quickly to secure Scott Twine last summer, I hope we're a bit more on it in the next couple of windows.

Did think he would stay in the North West… never mind.

I'm sure Cawley confirmed Twine wasn't a target of ours.

Unfortunately it seems whomever we  had signed it wasn’t destined to work under Adkins. Which I for one will admit I was surprised about as I thought he’d be ok.I’ll also admit things have gone better than expected under Jacko, although he needs to now prove he can work with new players coming in, and maybe get a tune out of Kirk because he has been desperately disappointing considering the charltonlife scouting network were  jizzing all over the signing.

He should've been, he's having another good season.
