Something that really does my head in with test bowlers but that I understand to a degree is why they spend so long hunting for edges rather than bowling, fast and hard at the stumps, not every ball but certainly more than we did today. Maybe I'm seeing the game too simply which I'm guilty of doing especially when we vomit out weird performances like today.

Besides that I've watched Buttlers second dropped catch so many times hoping that like Gazza in 1996, if I watch it enough times he gets there
  • single and the score will be 222-2 …
  • 4 balls in.

    Bored.

100 up for Labuschagne. Smith looks very good too. This could be ugly.

    236-2

Robinson into the attack. And gets Labuschagne caught behind for 102 with his first ball of the day.

It’s a no ball. Labuschagne survives.
  • Labuschagne 102-3.
  • Chump ffs waste of time
yea fine lines but he’s never gonna get a wicket with a no ball

  • Everything has to be perfect to win in Australia.

From the preperation to the dropped catches, from the injury to Archer to the no-balls and from the batting display to the undercooked bowling attack ... I don't think anything could have gone worse.

  • Tough chance for Robinson missed/dropped and Labuschagne gets another life

    Labuschagne out lbw to Robinson.

I was about to kick the cat if that was overturned on review.
  • And finally Labuschagne goes for 103 at the fifth time of asking.

Already enough to win by an innings I suspect
  • Didn’t they have a drinks break 20mins ago. Why are aus now having another drink break. No wonder the over rate is awful.

One more wicket before the break in 15 minutes and this gets interesting.
  • Bowl em out for 320ish and we have a very small chance.

They are more likely to get 520 than 320! :-)

    Afternoon break. 302-5

    Smith 55 (146)
    Carey 5 (18)

A better session for England in the end. 81-3 from 27 overs.

It’s been a long night. I was perhaps a touch optimistic.
  • Does anybody know who the black armbands that Australia are wearing are for?

Australia's players are wearing black armbands today, as a mark of respect for the five children tragically killed in a freak bouncy castle accident in Devonport, Tasmania on Thursday.

"The Australian men’s cricket team pay their pay their respects and show their love and support of the grief-stricken Devonport families who must be in unimaginable pain following yesterday’s tragic events" Cricket Australia said in a statement. "It was deeply saddening for all.

"Today, Australia and the match officials will wear black armbands today to honour those lost."

  • Only just caught up on what has happened today but it looks like they've bowled a better length today

    Still bowling no balls though.
    I find that very annoying.

Totally agree - if the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result then Messrs Stokes, Robinson and Woakes are insane. And if they aren't, then them doing so is definitely making me mad!
