Wonder how Burns feels sitting there watching Dan Worrall (highest career score 50) outscoring him in this innings.

609 was the old record, set by Namibia against Uganda in 2010
This might also be the highest number of batsmen hitting 50s without going on to make a ton - 7 so far and Worrall is on 43

Curran is opening the bowling but only allowed to bowl 15 overs in the game. He might as well bowl them straight off and then put his feet up for two days.

Is that at the ecb's request?

is that why Crawley always gets out for 5? The ecb don't want him to bat for more than 5 overs 😂

edit: or less than 20 🤬

Out for 17 which is his average for the season. He is having an absolute nightmare - he has 121 runs in total as opposed to Compton's 564. All batsmen go through runs like this but he on tracks that are so friendly he should have been able to put a couple of scores together.

I see Kent have set another unwanted record - conceding 500 plus in the first innings of six consecutive First Class matches.

Does anyone know how many runs Kent have conceded in matches so far, is it over 5000?

Are we picking any bowlers for the team selection as it seems totally non existent so far!

Not quite as many as that! In 6 games this season the opposition are 3,686-55 or 67 per wicket.

As for bowlers, Bird went home injured, Stewart and Klaassen (white ball anyway) are injured too, Qadri won't get in as a second spinner, Logan and O'Riordan hardly have a wicket to their name in the 2s, Jas Singh isn't ready yet so that leaves just Podmore who is 12th man and will probably be given a chance in the next game.

Thank for the info. I was hopeful of a good season, though the early signs are not encouraging.

I proclaimed and backed us accordingly to win the CC. What I didn't bargain for was that the pitches that were ordered to be produced would negate the effectiveness of our seam friendly reliant bowling attack. Or the fact that our batsmen haven't been able to consistently take advantage of these conditions either.

We should still be a force in The Blast because of the numerous options available to us especially with the return of Qais Ahmad but that shouldn't disguise the fact that we have been lacking so much with both bat and ball.

A dismal start of the season. I had been thinking about doing down to Beckenham today, but couldn't be bothered.

Either we'll struggle, or the pitch is so flat that it's no contest

109 - 5 Cox out for 12. All out 200 odd around or just after tea? I was there Thursday and it looked such a good batting track I thought our bowlers contained them quite well. Yet Surrey scored 100 or so more than they should have done because we couldn't shift the tail. Yet our batters appear to be struggling. Why?

I still think it will be a draw.
Kent won't bat as badly 2nd innings
    Unfortunately.

They look beaten already mate. Seven down now. I'm having a lovely day here in the sunshine. Super Surrey.

Robinson justifying his selection by top scoring, admittedly against the old ball.

Wasn't wrong was I? 68-0 following on as I post. Let's hope we can bat it out for the rest of today and tomorrow and get the draw.

    82-1 at the close.

Crawley b Jacks 35. Tosser. It's annoying because I think he is a class batsman but he really is not delivering the runs he should.
