The Addicks book the place in the last 16 of the @PapaJohnsTrophy
If we win this, will The Valley crowd in 70 years be singing about Johnny Jackson us winning the Papa Johns Trophy in the same way we do about Jimmy Seed and the FA Cup?
No but seriously, this was a fun match. Villa have some decent young players. Good to get minutes for the yoot. Good to see the like of Burstow, Deji, and Bakrin up against players of similar (if not slightly older) ages who are at a tier 1 academy.
Great bit of experience for Villa... Nice bit of competitive football for the fringe players.
The competition is doing its job for once.
Three wins from Wembley, the 3rd Round stays regionalised - Draw is on Saturday thanks to Mr Mendez
Villa's kids will certainly have benefited from playing against experienced pros like Stockley and Watson. They've got some really talented attacking players, but they overplayed it tonight, trying to get the perfect goal
Cambridge 2-0 Walsall FT Leyton Orient 0-0 MK Dons FT (pens) Forest Green 1-1 Chelsea U21 FT (pens)
Sutton 0-0 Stevenage (53 mins played) Swindon 1-2 Colchester (52 mins played)
Ipswich v Arsenal played tomorrow Exeter v Portsmouth played in two weeks
Chelsea U21 win 4-1 on penalties.
Have to laugh - I was curious to see the Chelsea line up tonight see if I recognise any names coming through.
Neither they nor Aston Villa bothered to even mention the game on their twitter accounts.
I know the whole reason for the kids to be in the competition is for THEM to gain experience in the Senior Game - But given how the clubs have demanded B team access to the EFL, it would be nice if they made an effort to actually advertise these games.

And @aliwibble also.
Every time I’ve seen him, he’s been very good.
