Perhaps it was the first poster to use the word racist, or maybe the first poster to use the word 'woke' on this thread.

Implore all.
Is there not a single thread that you cannot impose your utter bollox on. Please just go away.
You are wrong. There has been no imposition by me on this thread. Read it if you want to understand why I say this, then perhaps you can give examples of what you mean. If you are that energised maybe you could give further examples from every other thread I contribute to. What you and some others appear to be objecting to is my existence, which is fair enough as haters gotta hate, but if what you object to is what I write (the utter bollocks on every thread) may I suggest you read what I write and explain what you object to. If you wish to go further maybe you could find the personals you might think I direct at other individuals as they're directed at me.
The thing is Seth It makes no difference what the thread is about. You just have to put in a political comment. You have been banned from the political threads for calling all Tories evil and all Brexit voters racist. So now you spout your pathetic views on the main board. You have been responsible for having several threads closed because of what you have posted. I have come to the conclusion that you are a bitter and twisted old man.
Michael Holding has given a couple of powerful interviews about racism, and racism in Cricket. As woke simply means anti racist, some would describe him as woke. His interview indicated racism is still a problem. Some on here have mentioned liking Michael Holding when he is broadcasting during games, similar to some mentioning liking David Lloyd broadcasting during games.
How on earth does 'woke simply means anti-racist'?
Extremists only see things in black and white, both left and right. You don’t like daft wokeism? Then you’re a racist to the far left. You don’t like racism? Then you’re a woke, libtard lefty to the far right.
There’s no nuance. You’re either with them or against them.

Right, can we draw a line under this discussion please and bring it back to Bumble rather than another terminally boring "who said what" thread.
Seth is clearly swimming against the tide again, but he's had his say on the original topic. For those who see him as their bete noir, and feel compelled to jump on him every time, you might find that these tedius distractions might be a little shorter if you didn't all feel the need to react.

No LL, I remember the gravelly voice of John Arlott as if it was yesterday. Apparently, co-commentators knew when JL was arriving before play by the sound of chinking bottles in his carry bag. As for my age I passed a medical for my 80th yesterday - coming up April - should have put that on the “nice thing happened today” thread.
I remember laying on the settee, closing my eyes and listening to the pleasing thud of leather on willow, gentle applause and John Arlott describing the position of the Sun and the size of the gas holders at the Oval. Pure poetry.
In the space of a couple of lines you bring back pleasant memories Raith.
‘Bumble’ is a commentary great – and an even better friend
When I was having a tricky time as England captain in 1994, I had taken myself off to the Lake District for a few days to escape scrutiny. I found a pub in Cartmel, told no one, and bunkered down for a few days.
There was a knock on the door. Bumble. Of course it was. He was worried, found out where I was staying, and drove up to make sure I was OK. The mark of a man, of a friend, and a particular moment in time I’ve not forgotten.
I’ve known David Lloyd since I was 12 years old. He was one of the Lancashire names I would first note down in the game Howzat I played as a young boy; I watched him as a player; I played while he was umpiring; I played under him at Lancashire; I captained alongside him when he was England coach, and I have had the great honour of commentating alongside him for the last decade or so with Sky.
Cricket is a long game, with lengthy pauses, both of which allow cricket commentators greater scope than in some other sports. Bumble knew when to concentrate on the cricket but also had the breadth of experience, hinterland and intelligence to wander off-piste, when appropriate.
He has the gift of comic timing, is funny without trying too hard to be funny and has a wonderfully rich Accrington accent, which, when combined with a deep love and knowledge of the game, are ingredients that have made him, in my view, one of the great commentators on the sport.
There has not been a moment in all the years I’ve known him that my mood has not been lifted by his company and I imagine, as he takes his leave of the commentary box with Sky, that the vast majority of viewers will feel the same way.
Oh, bumble is the sound of cricket for me. This is a shame if not entirely surprising. @seth plum not met you and don’t know you, I agree with most of what you say but you do push it a bit. We won’t all agree on anything.
For what it's worth my favourite ever was Brian Johnson, I liked the eccentricity of Henry Bloefeld, and would like hear more of the bloke (sorry forgotten his name) who answers the Laws questions in the occasional lunch interval.

A real shame to see David Lloyd end his broadcasting career like this after bringing joy to millions of people with his brilliant commentary over the years.
If I understand it correctly the comments about the Asian community that precipitated his apology were made in a private text message that was then leaked to the media.
As we saw from the Azeem Rafiq case, where in private messages he and a friend mocked Jews for supposedly being mean, the contents of private messages often contain material that is highly offensive….no shit Sherlock, that’s why they are a private message in the first place.
As an old journalism colleague used to say, “Everything looks ******* bad when you put it on page one in 36pt Times New Roman.”
We are in a strange place now where our personal private conversations can be digitally stored for years and suddenly resurface at very inconvenient times, there will be plenty more folks down the years that fall victim to this, and some of them will be those that happily condemned those that had met the same fate before them.
That’s such a hard read. Such a loss. Watched finals day yesterday & as much as they tried, it just isn’t the same without Bumble. Fecking rubbish decision all round & nothing anyone can say will convince me otherwise.
