Clare and Inniss are mixed race. You did a big list of white and mixed race players who aren't lazy and two black ones who apparently are. Don't you see how bad that looks?
From what I recall DJ & Leko came in for the most stick on the match thread the other night and nobody was being accused of being racist then. Where does all this stop, if Doucher's list had mentioned 8 or 9 English players and said 2 Scottish, Irish or Welsh players looked lazy would it have registered on the radar then?

As far as this window goes, there is no urgency for me.
We need a SCP style 17 man recruitment drive for next season and offload the passengers that we are carrying now.

Forget this season - it was over when we kept soppy bollox in charge for 4 games too many, everything since is just window dressing.
Beat Pompey and the Gills, then let that be an end to our expectations.
Cannot believe this level of blame is still being thrown at Adkins.

    a) he doesn't deserve to be insulted
    b) IT'S THE FUCKING PLAYERS!!!
i'm not so sure - i think we should judge the difference once Stockley and Washington are back in tandem up front because i think Stockley's absence is what is crippling us at the moment
    Yes miss Stockley but...

Against Plymouth away it was "they must all have Covid" to explain utter dross, now it's Stockley is missing.  With Bowyer for 4 months all we heard was "center backs".

Adkins went into the season with no left back, a half fit center half with no replacement, only 3 fit center midfielders and no left winger.  We got beat by 3 of the current top 6.  The team were booed off the pitch.

Now I am not excusing what happened next but getting 1 point from the 1st 4 games puts you right behind the 8 ball and already the manager is in a very difficult position.

Over the last 18 months it's been utter dross apart from a 10 or so game spell under each of the 3 managers.  I was a massive critic of Bowyer but I also said just sacking Adkins won't solve everything.  It hasn't. And was never going to.
not sure what the answer is then? Is it the recruitment? are we not doing our due dilligence on the players characters? i look at the likes of dobson, clare, Lavelle, Lee, Gilby, Washington, Stockley, Innis, the keeper, pearce, purrington and i don't see anything but 100% effort - albeit i don't see many away games at the moment - Leko and DJ appear to have lazy / disengaged moments - i don't think gunter and davison can be accused of not putting it in, i just think their  not much good - watson and matthews, not sure.
It's the diffence between running around a bit and showing the desire to get that tap in, put that tackle in, close the player down, make sure you pick your man up at a set piece and all those other bits.   All of those little things turn 2-1 defeats into 2-1 victories.

That's why they looked unfit under Adkins and Bowyer and suddenly got fit within 48 hours of them both leaving.   They look unfit again, to me.

I would urge everyone to read the 1st 2 pages of the post match threads of Sunderland away, for the last two seasons.  It's the same with the post match interviews.  They were only 5 months apart.

I can't remember if it was the Accrington or Bolton home game but one of the goals came from down our right where 5 times our players either missed challenges or went in half hearted.  Anyone of them could have stopped that happening.   The same thing, exactly the same thing happened under Bowyer this time last year.

The same 3 players were dropped, or should have been, by Bowyer and then Adkins and were at worst very good as soon as the manager changed.

One was even a strong candidate for Bowyer's "he will never play for me again".  Adkins then picked him for almost every game last season.  Adkins dropped him, Jackson brought him back. People were saying it was an example of Adkins not knowing what he is doing.  Weeks later half the rumours thread is he isn't good enough. The players, some of them, are more fickle than the fans.

Confirmation again we’re looking for attacking midfielders and strikers. JJ said:

What we need is someone with that final pass or cross, and someone to put it in the net.
For me, or maybe many people, that person was expected to be Elliot Lee.

I can see how he couldn't hold a role down at a level higher than L1. A good player but at that height, as an attacking player, you need real deliverables in terms of goals and assists......and/or a good set piece.

Might be an argument that not having a forward that the ball can stick to impacts his productivity.
It'd help if he had people around him on a similar wavelength rather than a wing-back who doesn't do winger, a bunch of misfiring strikers and a headless chicken that all our fans think is our best player for some reason. Agree that his set-pieces are poor
  • who are the 3?  I genuinely don't know who they are - i'm guessing one is DJ (sorry if that upsets you Leuth) Matthews? Morgan?

It looks like DOUCHER thinks that Leko and DJ are a bit lazy.  I can't say I disagree.
  • None so blind as those who will not see
  • So no real rumours then it seems  :)

I think you're the only one that does. I think Doucher has a point about Leko. I don't think he is lazy, and I think he actually wants to be here but it certainly doesn't come across like at times. DJ I probably wouldn't agree with Ajose was lazy. The fact Ajose is black? Pure coincidence. We've had some lazy white players too.
I dont think anyone can accused DJ of being lazy, not very good maybe, but he's up and down that wing like nobody's business! Jacko even said he's told him to run himself into the ground for 70mins before being replaced  just to give us that energy. Maybe he needs to be fitter, I dunno?

I wouldn't describe Leko as lazy either, but he does drift in and out of games. He also has that languid style to him, a bit like BWP, where he tends to stroll/lurk around waiting for something to happen. BWP would get pelters for not tracking back etc but that wasn't his game. His job was to put the ball in the net which he did. I like Leko, but we need to work out where we're gonna play him, rather than chopping and changing every week.
  • Leko was daydreaming / on his heels, quite a bit against Norwich and was really frustrating me - DJ can't last 90 minutes which isn't great for a pro player and should shed some weight - he also has moments when he seems elsewhere. He's electric one game in 5 and then anonymous / poor.
  • Leko's biggest problem is that he likes dropping deep to receive the ball, where he's more comfortable, which means he's not often in a position to be on the last man. He frankly looks a bit lost when it comes to getting on the end of chances, and his uncertainty of where to be means that he isn't always in a good position to receive the ball and the game passes him by
  • Luton chief Nathan Jones would be unlikely to stand in the way of Elliot Lee' s switch to Charlton Athletic if the League One side want to turn the attacker's loan move into permanent one...
As reported in Luton Today, so could be a move is being discussed..rumour?? B)
  • Even in DJ's 'anonymous' games where he's not gotten good crosses away (and let's recall that even in the last game there was a peach that Washington should have stuck away) he's been industrious and defensively solid (yeah, he didn't have the defender's instinct get to a rebound in the last game, but that's hardly part of his remit)
  • Yeah, I can see where you're coming from @DOUCHER. Im not sure it's laziness, maybe just a the fact they're third division players! Either way Jacko needs to get a tune out of them as they have both shown glimpses of what they can do and have some ability.
  • I have just looked on here as there's lots of new posts as I thought we had some transfer rumours. No, it's just two of you having an argument. Ffs

Absolutely, whereas Kirk must have some ability but i've yet to see it and think he is suffering from a lack of confidence, nota  lack of motivation. DJ has upped his game since jacko came in but some of his performances under Adkins wee shockingly lazy. Leko isn't as prone to it and there may be something in the fact that he has been playing out of position but there again, what is his position?

I had to read douches post 5 times before I got the link. Doucher didn't mention race once in the post. Out of 100 on the racism scale, the post scored 0.

is it racist to say Dobson had a better game on Wednesday than dj or Leko? No!! Non story, time to move on
Dobson did indeed. But he literally called them lazy. I don't think DOUCHER is intentionally racist but there's a clear history of calling black players lazy and I don't think it remotely holds true in this case.
Shut up fella, this is embarrassing

Just let him talk to himself, he will go away eventually..

Why didn't we just bung him an extra 200k to sign in the summer.  Would of saved 100s of pages of moaning!

Brilliant news though although this has taken about six weeks to do, god knows why.

It's exactly the same situation as with Shinnie a year ago, where the player only has 6 months left on his contact and Luton are happy to move him on

Chuks on his way back for £300k 👏🏻👏🏻
If true, we lost him on a free and sign him back for £300k?

    Ouch.
  • agreed - this is a good move but sadly a few weeks too late
  • Getting Chuks back a good signing. Proven operator at this level. Just need to get him on the pitch for as many mins as possible
  • Chuks back is great news. If we'd been able to chuck him on at 60 mins we'd have got a point on Wednesday.
