Decent player especially at this level, I also think he left not because we wouldn't offer what he wanted but because Bowyer and others tempted him with Championship football. Still a shame that we are paying a decent fee for him.
Anekes early career was thrown up in the air when Birmingham signed Troy Deeney.
Also, due to people like Tracey Leaburn, people like coming back here i.e Cullen & Leko
all very cosy, BUT we want players who still have the will to succeed and want to play for us, not ones who come back for a cuddle and a chat with Tracey, however nice that might be ((:>)
Forget about galacticos, maybe Man U can solve their problems by signing Tracey in the window
My question is, " why his Bowyer selling him and why , when he refused to sign for us in the Summer us he now returned or returning "? It matters really because something isn't right. He apparently had lots of options in the summer. Now he has only us. Perhaps he hasn't got to do a medical with us ?
We don’t do medicals as such. All the player needs to do is be able to walk from his car to the door of the training ground in a straight line, and that’s him passed.

God knows how Roger Johnson managed that
He was fortunate that Sue Parkes was overseeing his walk in on both occasions.
The return of Chuks makes me think there is more to Stockley's hip injury than first we thought
No, we’ve been working on Aneke for a while now. Stockley’s injury is just coincidental.
I even cheered @golfaddick up last year letting him know about the Aneke interest.
Any idea why it took so long, I knew this was a possibility in early December.
Things take time. I believe we initially went thinking we could get him on loan. Things change and then when it becomes a permanent deal, you’ve got the fee, wages, and length of contract to sort. It’s a completely different negotiation process.

Either way, it’s great he’s coming back.
I know it's not like championship manager and there are lots of moving parts but 6 weeks for some you already know is a bit on the long side. We could even have signed him on loan 2 weeks ago then sorted out the details.
We didn't even have DJ on our radar until tea time and got that done by 11pm.
With all due respect to who ever did the negotiations it can't be that complex deal unless there are sellons, England caps, Balloon D'Ors and image rights to consider.
Glad he's on his way back, but why didn't we use that budget in the summer? Not to keep him, but on anyone else? Feels like this season has just been wasted for no reason

We did. Quite a lot of money ended up spent in the end, you can debate how wisely but it was spent. At the end of the transfer window we literally could not sign anyone else and fit them into the squad.
Now that things have changed, we have a new, different budget for the January window.
Chuks is just what we need even if he has the odd injury,I back him to score 10 goals between now and the end of the season, also his presence will make chances for the rest of the lads.

Fair enough. Whoever it was that decided we didn't need to replace Aneke, or at least try, needs sacking.

I think we recruited to fit Adkins's preferred system and like I say, in terms of numbers and money actually spent quite a lot. That system would probably feature goals coming in from the likes of DJ and Leko and probably Gilbey and Lee, so it wasn't a case of directly replacing Aneke at the time.
Of course, with hindsight we end up quoting that great manager, Mr E. Blackadder: "There was a tiny flaw in the plan: it was bollocks."
So the Aneke rumor true, bloody hell ! I cannot believe we have spent money on a player who I admit is a whole hearted player when on the pitch. But that is the point when on the pitch. He plays 30 to 40mins in a game and is shot. Then lucky to see him in the next game.

There’s 300 posts worth of discussion on this if you’re interested
When was the last time we wasn’t light on strikers? I genuinely can’t remember, I think the first half of 2018/19 about it, but even then we had Vetokele who was very injury prone.
Next season if we are continuing with two up top there has got to be cover for both, the legs and energy of Washington along with Presence and hold up play of Stockley. So poor watching a side toothless up top.

Agreed, if we can bring one more in now or in the summer then we'll be in a strong place for next season.

2019/20?
Taylor, Bonne, Aneke and Hemed was decent enough quantity, even if Hemed turned out to be a massive disappointment

Less said about Hemed the better.
I’m just about old enough to remember when we had Leaburn, Nelson, Grant and Whyte on the books, imagine that quartet in this league!

Brum fans reaction. Or rather, lack thereof.

Therefore unless we sign U21s, we have to move players on (or deregister them as with Ben Dempsey)
