  • Gallen expects at least two players, maybe one more before the end of the window... Has mentioned a couple might go out too

Feels that signing Aneke means we now have the spine of the team for the next year, next couple of years potentially.
A spine forged from Papier-mâchéd dog turds

We should be picking over Derby squad and under 23’s. Top bid will be excepted until they are left with a squad that can complete fixtures.

Surely Davison will be one to go and create a squad place?

I’d love those two signings to be a proper right wing back (I can’t handle anymore DJ) and an attacking midfielder.

The icing on the cake would be another CM ideally Kyle Dempsey but seems he’s on his way to Bolton for £100k.. why are we not in for him!

He was mentioned earlier in the window and a move would seem unlikely now we have Chuks back on the books but getting Uche Ikpeazu on loan would be huge - especially with Jayden’s hip doubts.

League One defences wouldn’t stand a chance against both of them lining up together

It seems like they are good mates outside of the game too… I bet they’d have fun playing together.

  • I wonder if Gunter might want to move on, as not playing will be damaging his chances of staying in the Wales squad.

As far as this window goes, there is no urgency for me.
We need a SCP style 17 man recruitment drive for next season and offload the passengers that we are carrying now.

Forget this season - it was over when we kept soppy bollox in charge for 4 games too many, everything since is just window dressing.
Beat Pompey and the Gills, then let that be an end to our expectations.
Cannot believe this level of blame is still being thrown at Adkins.

    a) he doesn't deserve to be insulted
    b) IT'S THE FUCKING PLAYERS!!!
i'm not so sure - i think we should judge the difference once Stockley and Washington are back in tandem up front because i think Stockley's absence is what is crippling us at the moment
Nobody else in the squad can play the Stockley role, that's a major issue for us in his absence.
Any news of when Stockley is likely to return?

Clare and Inniss are mixed race. You did a big list of white and mixed race players who aren't lazy and two black ones who apparently are. Don't you see how bad that looks?
So what is he supposed to do…..not give his considered opinion because they happen to be black.
You are seeing something that isn’t there, talk about being stupid.
Stop making a prat of yourself man.

If we had leaburn, grant, and nelson as 3 of our 4 forwards this season we would be bang in trouble!   David whyte on the other hand yes please.
    Are you serious?

Another big rebuild needed this summer but as Steve Brown said you can’t sort it out in one or two transfer windows. If we change ten players in the summer I think the best we can hope for next season is a play off spot.

Well we've had 3 windows since relegation from the Championship and are now in our 4th.

You can take 50 windows and still not have the right squad.

Not playing hasn't done him any harm this far in his Charlton career.

Everton and Spurs are a great example of this.
  • If Jackson is going to persist with this formation then the priority simply has to be two wing backs.

Playing DJ and CBT there is pathetic, they'd look out of place playing that position in non-league.

Two new wing backs to come in, with Purrington and Matthews as the back up.

DJ is lightyears better than Matthews in that role, who barely crosses the halfway line for fear of a nosebleed. Definition of old school, hold your shape full back.

On the other side, Purrington has at least got something to contribute in the final third.

  • To be honest i don't think Matthews is much use either but as least he offers some versatility if we wanted to play a back 4 and can in extreme circumstances cover the other full back role.

Personally I don't think DJ offers much at all in any role, he goes missing far too often and definitely isn't good enough for a side who hope to get promotion.

Wide players tend to be the most inconsistent at every football club.

In Leko & DJ we have two right sided players who we can rotate when out of form (that IMO are easily good enough for this level but just lacking confidence at present).

It’s more another left sided player we need. We have no-one to compete with, put any pressure on or replace Purrington….as was very evident yesterday.

I would off load Soaure, CBT & Kirk (freeing up lots of squad places) & bring in an LWB. Someone like Danny Andrew at Fleetwood would be ideal. He’s arguably the best in the LWB position in this league and takes a great free kick…which we very much lack in the current squad (whilst JFC is out).

You want proper wing backs and then want to keep Matthews. He offers nothing going forward, we’re better off playing DJ, Leko or CBT there so we at least get some crosses in. It’s not as if their lack of defensive ability has been a big problem.

Players like Matthews need to go in the summer, assuming they haven’t moved on this month.
  • Squad needs a big shake up this month if possible, too many players going through the motions yesterday.

Matthews is an out and out full back not a wing back big diff …… but keep saying this squad was built to play 4231 and not 352

There is a saying that a camel is a horse designed by a committee.

So while I still think we signed mostly good players it was haphazard in places and the balance wasn't right, in part because we didn't retain the players we wanted to, such as Aneke.

We also built a squad to play 433, not 352 so the squad is even less fit for purpose eg too many wide players and not enough strikers, especially when our two first choice forwards are injured.

With a full squad and the right mentality the players have shown they can win games.

We currently lack both, it seems.

Gallen and previously Sandgaard said two or maybe three coming in, one experienced (I assume that is Chuks) which leaves one or two younger players.

A wing back and a creative, goal scoring midfielder would be nice but neither will come easy or cheap.

Of course I rate Chuks, but for lots of others, haven’t got the fight, desire and ability to get where we want to go, I think they think they think they’re  doing us a favour.

It wasn't directed at you, it was directed at @RonnieMoore who claimed players are not available in January
