Lyle would have to find somewhere to park in Eltham (nightmare) and then walk all the way to McDonald’s.

Knowing Lyle, he’d carry on driving for 2 minutes and utilise the Yorkshire Grey drive thru. Luke’s mate is a liar.
You mean the one who’s drive in/car park entrance is inside the emission control zone and who’s exit is outside the emission control zone!
    Yes, it’s true…….I kid you not.🧐

Wouldnt have a problem with a player/coach role, even if the coaching one is with the U23 for the time being. Then if he trains with the first team and JJ thinks he can still do it, then put him in the matchday squad.
He's still take a squad place though, and I don't think we can afford giving one to an occasional player
FWIW i think he's got the ability to do a bit of damage in this league. He made 20 appearances for Rangers last season.
But for how long? If he's looking to continue playing until the end of next season there could be some value. If it's just this season I don't see any point in signing him.
I dont know, i'll have to trust Jackson and Sangaard to make the correct decision from those discussions.

I think Defoe can still do a job in League One, plus, I imagine he'll have a positive impact on Burstow, Kanu et al. It's a yes from me.

My daughter told me that the other day.  I said, " Don't be silly,  no one would cock that up, would they?"

    No answer.
  • A strike duo of Lyle Taylor and Defoe would be interesting wouldn't it

I would not be surprised to see Defoe heading back towards London if nothing more than to be a Sky Sports / TalkSport pundit as it seems to be the done thing now.  Playing at Charlton as a player/coach/broadcaster

have a feeling there could be an incoming announced tomorrow - bit of a Leftfield feeling
There should have been a witch-hunt by now! Has the transfer thread lost its magic?

Haven't we got to go through the routine of pretending the announcement will be at 4pm, if not then 5pm, if not then 6pm etc etc...?

  • Three weeks into the window and not a realistic rumour to be seen, oh well, another slow limp towards the finishing line it is, any league two freebies on the horizon anybody...
  • If we do sign him can we continue to boo him please, worked wonders whenever he was at the valley previously.
With Defoe upfront with Taylor, Watson anchoring midfield and Gunter at right back there will be quite a few with very sore throats.

I am sure this has been asked before but there is something that has always bugged me about the Lyle Taylor situation. Firstly, I am exactly in the same camp as the majority on here, he should have played to his contract, the thing I have always wondered is, was the reason he ducked due to the people we had in charge at the time, quite simply the biggest bag of shitbags to darken ours or anyone else's door. I have asked myself if I was in his shoes what would I have done, would I go out and play for those people?
It was so he didn’t get an injury which could have impacted how much money he was offered in the summer.

    no.
  • I assume you wouldn't have played Dave, and Elliot yes that's exactly what he did but, and we can never second guess, what if TS was in charge then ? also we weren't relegated when he made that decision, in fact we could have had a very good chance of getting out of it if he had played, as I say we will never know.

sorry Bailey, i was saying no to the question "was the reason he ducked due to the people we had in charge at the time"

i would have played as should he have

I know he wasn't the only one in the same situation but if you did your ACL would you expect Elllliiioooooottttttttt to look after you and do the right thing?

He was wrong, it was handled badly, he shouldn't have done it and not playing those 3 games was wrong.

But whilst I don't agree with it I can see why he did it.

  • Unless I've missed something, are these rumours around Defoe & Lyle due to Stockley's injury being worse than we'd hoped ?

Even if that were the case, it still doesn't excuse him not honouring his contracted commitments to the Club, imo

    No.

Defoe - plugged by talksport and wants to be in close to Bond street
Taylor - spotted in a Mcdonalds in Eltham or so, probably before seeing his onlyfans clients

We signed someone only 5 days ago and Cawley has said another is close.
Ok, so the "somebody", you advised me about I assume you mean Chuks, not a rumour on here and appeared a day after first appearing as a possible, and as for Cawleys revelation that "is close", please advise who that is?...as I said nothing of any substance if those are the two best examples you can come up with.. B)

Chuks signed within 24 hours of the rumour gaining legs and Crawley hasn't named any names.

Seems to me that work is being done, just fairly low key.
