Looking at those clips he looks to love a ball inside the fullback, we need to get pacey attacks down the flanks. If he signs the lad from Chelsea will enjoy his service.
I’ve been through enough transfer windows on Charlton Life now not to place too much stock in these clips, but I would say those two packages just make him look like a taller Elliot Lee who is better at penalties.

Problem with highlights like this is that all those clips were playing for an MK Dons team whose fluid attacking football couldn’t be further from the brand we play at the moment.
When he is on the ball he is going to need runners and movement in front of him from players who are willing to receive the ball to feet, which is something we completely lack unless Washington is on the pitch. Even then his movement is more for a ball over the top and into the channels (which he is incredible good at controlling, just a shame his conversation rate is lacking).

Would that be the Elliott Lee that did not score a penalty that saw us knocked out of the Papa cup and has only scored two goals this season? Just checking
I would use him in a double 8 with Gilbey. If you had those 2 and JFC you would have something to work with.
What is a double 8 other than 16,two large ladies or a finish at Darts ?
Attended lots of football managers meetings back in the day and watched and listened to lots of young professional coaches at work in the last year but have never heard double 8 mentioned or seen it written on a board ?
Number 10's are well known talking in football vernacular but I can only imagine double 8's are part of 4-2-2-2 ?

I think he means a midfield triangle with Dobson at the rear point and Fraser and Gilbey ahead of him.

Errrr.... yes it would be - hence me highlighting the "better at penalties" bit. I kind thought that was obvious.
Fraser scored 5 that weren't penalties in his last season for MK Dons and has one so far this season for Ipswich so pretty comparable with Lee purely in numbers, wouldn't you say?

The only way to describe it would be you would have a number 4 sitting in front of the defence, mopping up danger, break up play, being the ball winner. A number 8 would be someone who is more box to box, they don’t have to be immensely athletic but they are a bit more creative and can really pick a pass and chip in with a few goals a season. A number 10 would be someone who gets in between the lines, supports the striker, supporters the wingers, is tricky and agile and will often have a good relationship with the main man up front.
An example really is that when Robinson was in charge, Kashi would have been the 4, Forster-Caskey the 8, and Clarke the 10.
It can work with a back 3 and by having the extra central defender, if you had two players like Forster-Caskey in midfield in front of the sitter, one of them would need to be more athletic and be the player who really gets up and scores more than the other.
Ultimately, it’s just a midfielder who brings different things to the team. Putting a number on it helps people to identify, it doesn’t always have to be the right or most commonly used terminology.

Or a 3422 all the cool kids are playing it. Including Accrington and Cheltenham. Manchester United and their new "wonder coach" play the 4222.

The cool kids can't count !
3322 then . It doesn't really matter how you write it down, it's how you get 3 or 4 in the middle of the park and 5 or 6 in attack when you have the ball and 7 or 8 behind it when you don't. In the right place.

Errr….not for me. 14 goals and six assists. Better at penalties is an understatement. 100% record and not in the Papa Cup. It says he is comfortable sticking the ball away. Lee has been given a free role in midfield and two goals to show for it is pitiful IMO, and why JJ is looking so hard for an attacking midfielder.
Having read that and the other links posted it seems the question marks are over his fitness, work rate, athleticism etc. However any creative CM at this level is going to lack something in their game, perhaps alongside two mobile energetic players in Dobson and Gilbey (or John?) we'll have a good balance and will be able to support a player like Fraser. The player in that role needs to produce more than Lee has been.
If Castillo settles in well having pace and more of a threat (other than attacking the far post) than Purrington will make a difference too. As will having Chuks up front over Davison or Leko.
Darragh with his public "honest" dishonest talk - soo boring!
The guy who said southall was a gd guy would be great for charlton and a close friend of his
NOT to be trusted
No that's not what he said. He met him once and had no more knowledge of him than all those who cheered when he walked through the CAFC supporters lounge for the first time. He def never said he was a good friend of his. Darragh comes across as a bit of a knob but lets not be economical with the facts. Mouthall deceived a lot of us as well.

Do you know they only met once then ? im pretty sure they both said at the time they was friends in the football world and they went for a meal or cuppa i cant exactly remember that day to discuss the transfers as friends
TBF to Lee his weakness are amplified by others as much as himself.
If someone else could take free kicks and corners that fact he can't wouldn't matter. If our strikers finished more of the chances he did given them it would be enough.
It's endemic in the club no one person, or thing, is either THE problem nor THE solution.

Lee’s form mirrors the teams since JJ became permanent, it feels like teams have worked him out like our formation. Things he was trying were coming off, now they are not. He and Washington work better when stockley is around, so there is definitely a disconnect up top.
Comments
Also integrating players for next season makes sense.
I notice he hasn't played a single minute for them since being subbed off against us at the Valley.
Just checking

Created 31 chances for Ipswich, more than any other player, though it probably includes set pieces https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/ipswich-town/top-scorers/assists

I don't know Jeff.
