I thought I read somewhere he just didn't fit into the new shape and system their new manager brought in.
The old manager played him in a number of different poistions/roles. Not if which were identical to the one he played at Burton and MKD.
I believe that was the problem though - I read that in 20 appearances, Fraser only played his own specialist position 3 times. The other times he was shunted out to LW, etc
That's exactly my point, even if he played in exactly the same position but was asked to do different things.
You need very square pegs in very square holes, well at least 8 or 9 of them. Very few league 1 plays are very good in more than 1 hole.
We've been crying out for a playmaker like him and everyone would love it for him to become the 'main man' in the spine of the team.
It appears that he is massively motivated to help us get promotion as getting to the Championship will mean that he will likely get the chance to play for his country which is his main ambition; fair play to him....hopefully he'll be wowing the Tartan Army before long and we'll be in the second tier. Win-win!
I've got a good feeling about this; he could end up being a crucial piece of the jigsaw when it comes to getting us back where we belong.
I like this kind of signing. Young enough with some pedigree, but with the potential to improve.
One word of warning ... my Dundee United mate (and, yes, I have one) thinks that Fraser is a good technical player, but can get bullied out of games. He is not a physical player.
It would explain why Pratley snuffed him out that time.
So, Fraser will need a 'minder' alongside him. I'm not sure we have someone like that.
I don't think necessary, he will need a minder, more like available options around him. He moves the ball on quickly so if he has players finding space and making themselves available he's less likely to get clobbered.

To be fair, it just says he wasn’t really picked after refusing to sign a new contract. Bowyer did the same with Philips and I’d be happy to do that with Burstow for the rest of this season. They could have just been planning for the year ahead. Doesn’t mean he stopped trying.

Fraser was played wide left at Ipswich which would be like playing Conor Washington wide left and expecting him to score 1 goal in 3 games. At least we have a manager now that reads my emails 🤦🏻♂️
That definitely has a lot to do with the way MK Dons were playing at the time. There was this crazy stat during that season.
Probably more down to the fact their keeper hangs onto the ball so much. Remember the game at the valley last year and he must've had more touches than any other player! We just sat off and let him dribble it around! Crazy stat though, and they do play some nice football tbf

Might be one slight concern going forwards, we cross the ball so much, and win so many corners as a result.
Morgan ultimately seems the only player in the team who is capable of supplying a decent dead ball.
I have been complaining most of the season that we needed a left footed set play specialist since JFC was injured tbf Arter wasn't too bad at this aspect but other areas of his game meant that he couldn't hold down a regular place.
Yesterday I noticed that Fraser consulted with Gilbey a couple of times at set plays but the position better suited a right footed player.
This is an area where Scott's signing really excited me so I am looking forward to seeing what he can do.

The argument is really between Albie and Gilbey. Albie is better in a slower possession oriented style but is poor defensively. Gilbey covers more ground and is better in a high tempo style. Neither can finish. My guess is having Fraser in the squad lessens the likelihood of Albie starting eventually since Albie’s best attribute is set pieces but it might come down to who is in the best form. Either way it is nice to have options and different styles available between Fraser/Lee/Gilbey/Albie. That is a very good group for midfield. Bigger concern is if Dobson goes down we are stuck either playing Watson or playing another midfielder out of position.

Yes, they had a good system which meant that to press them you needed an extra player, because the keeper was so comfortable on the ball.
General opinion on his performance today? Clearly not match fit, but thought he showed some nice touches in the final third. Could see moment of quality but overall had a quiet day.
