All these business experts, great to see the minds of Harvard Business school here
Your sarcasm actually makes the underlining point though.
Most on here don't have the requisite insight, acumen and expertise to run a business in the manner of a Harvard Business School grad without expert assistance and guidance and would likely bumble through making material mistakes at the expense of the business' potential for success.
Similar to owning a football club with absolutely no experience or acumen for doing so without getting a good level of knowledge and experience on board to advise.
Maybe, but all the Pseudo psychology about Sandgaard or the 2,500 word wannabe James O’Brien polemics about this that and the other aren’t changing where we are, or peoples views.
Just bumped into Thomas in Erith Market. Looked like he was buying a new leather jacket. Once he recognised me and gave me one of those pointed gun greetings with his thumb and two fingers, we had a good laugh about the spontaneous singing of GSTQ yesterday.
Asked him if he was going to announce the new manager today, he said he was going to but there is a street party organised for Harvey Gardens today and he didn’t think it was fair to the local residents to disrupt it with all the national press descending on The Valley. Only fair i suppose, there’s no doubting this is a man who cares.

I find it difficult to understand why the Swindon Chairman cannot shed any light on his own manager’s position for legal reason. He either employs the man or he does not. What legal reasons can hinder his own football club from making a comment on their own employees. Looking forward to any explanations!
Could be Swindon are set to lose more than just Garner. The DoF has already resigned and rumours are that if Garner moves to Charlton or anywhere else he will bring two coaching staff with him. If negotiations re compensation are ongoing there might well be a non disclosure agreement in place. Who knows, it could be Swindon are sueing Charlton for an illegal approach. It could be for many reasons.
More likely the compensation has been agreed but he hasn’t got it yet.
Money issues our end you mean ??
No, just that the compo won’t have been paid before it’s even been announced and it’s not for them to announce it.
How long can they sit on it for? It has been a week already.
Thomas Sandgaard wanted applications for the job which is his right as the owner where possibly QPR headhunted Michael Beale when they knew Mark Warburton was leaving towards the end of last season so a smoother transition took place. If anyone knows different please inform.
I said by June 1st we would hear the announcement of Cafc new manager so there was a two week window before Training starts at Sparrows Lane and the new guy can get familiar with his new work place and build a relationship with Steve Gallen and Martin Sandgaard. Also Thomas Sandgaard obviously, in person or on Zoom.
I'm surprised it has taken this long for this comment to appear.
In football you are more likely get the right person if you do your homework and go get the manager you believe is right.
I remember RM deciding to interview for Curbs replacement and got impressed with Dowie, didn't he do a great presentation.
Tommy gets impressed with presentations, lets hope this doesn't go the same way.
If it's about presentations I'm managing Charlton next season.
If your the only one willing to sign this sacked in the morning for nought compensation contract you might well be.

Is football the only business where people can expect compensation if they are sacked for failing ?
No because they aren't actually sacked are they?
It quite simple really. It's a contract for x amount of years and it has exit clauses on both sides. If I "sack" you it costs me y and if you leave it will cost you z.
Is football the only business where people can expect compensation if they are sacked for failing ?
Senior management in local government, outsourced ICT providers and housing assocations all get compensation when they leave after ****ing up royally from my experience. I imagine if you're high enough up in most industries this happens

Wow, who got sacked without compensation?
Humorous take on a contract, As per discussions on here, Tommy might want our new manager to sign. Don't take everything so literally.

If you want a business analogy, I own a very famous film distribution company.
It has previously been owned by
a) An A lister who used it to release his own films when he was the world's biggest actor;
b) before Jeff Bezos and Elan Musk and Bill Gates, the wealthiest businessman in the world; and
c) a very wealthy economist
None of them sadly had any actual film sales and distribution experience. The company went "bust" 3 times in 17 years. A bank gave it to me to stop it going bust a fourth time.
I have a good sales and distribution reputation. I understand the economics of film distribution - like the football world, you can spend masses of money and spunk it up the wall.
After 2 1/2 years the bank were fully repaid and the business was owned fully by me. 2 years further on, it has a positive balance sheet for the first time in 21 years.
The bank asked me to help them.
Thomas is the bank. He needs experienced football people he can trust to run the club. The right people in the right jobs.
With the freedom to operate.
I can tell you from my own personal experience, that until he does that. It won't work. Ever.

Interesting. But if we fully follow your analogy he ends by giving the club to others and only escaping with what he put in.
What he seems to want now however is a club to run and see what ‘he’ can achieve. I don’t think he is in it for monetary gain as his primary motive.
Costly mistakes will however lead him to engage others who can input and help I assume is the main point of your analogy.
But for now he wants to see if he can find a way of doing it better than others. I can’t really see that as a bad thing as long as he gradually learns and adapts unless or until someone else steps up to fund it all. And despite suggestions by some I didn’t see a lengthy queue ahead of him when he took on ESI.

That's more informative and relaxing than 96.2% of this thread.
But the other 3.8%, which is the bits YOU wrote are great.
