    Only player who might care this weekend is Mbappe as he can still win the golden boot.
    England and France should play out a 10-10 draw, so that one of England or France's players can beat Messi to the golden boot.

    I cant remember the score or who they played but I recall Croatia coming third in 1998, after being a somewhat surprise package. The rest of the 3rd place play offs I do not recall at all, I've never actually watched one.

    Netherlands beating Brazil in the 3rd place match in 2014 was a good one, it rubbed salt in the wounds after Brazils 7-1 nightmare.

    I was too young for that, I vaguely remember the fuss about Gazza crying etc and that's it, USA 94 is the first World Cup I remember properly.

    I read a story that Bobby Robson planned to play Chris Woods which would have been his first and likely last opportunity to play in a World Cup  tournament, but Shilton asked for/demanded one final cap and Robson backed down

    I watched most of the Italia 90 one, in the kitchen at my second cousin's wedding reception - I say most of, as we did have the decency to wait for the speeches to be done first. To the best of my recollection there was me, my sister, my Dad, the best man and the bride's father (although Dad reckons it might have been the groom's father as he was also a big football fan) in there, trying not to make too much noise, so as not to attract attention.

    Only in the Olympics should you have a Bronze match as FIFA are trying to call it.

    The 3rd and 4th place match has always been a downer of a game.

    I would play Trafford and Henderson 45 minutes each but don't be surprised if Tuchel picks all 3 keepers 🤦🏻‍♂️

    In L’equipe it says that Zaire-Emery and Kanté are going to play centre midfield. 

    Let’s hope both teams play 2nd string teams and then maybe FIFA will stop this pointless fixture.

    I reckon both teams should agree to letting Mbappé and Kane score 5 goals each in the first ten minutes so that one wins the ’golden boot’. That should do it.

    Hopefully players from both sides who have not been involved in the tournament will feature.  At least there will be 'some' benefit of this game.
    From both sides I would imagine that training has been at a minimum.
    A crazy bloody fixture where both teams will always want to be on the first flight home after being knocked out of the semis.
